  1. Wow nice little collection there John! I like the pano Have you got bearings for the coilovers? Might be easier to put the hubs and brakes on with them out of the car. I reckon you can do it :blinks: . Even if you put up a thread, take it step by step, with photos, people will help you out. Then others will have a guide too  I think a rollaclub event is due soon... I'm thinking sunday 11th?
  2. Well, what I mean is you want a 50mm strut to base your front suspension on. If you go for coilovers you can get a full kit with springs shocks brakes etc, like BC's, AJPS, plus many others, not to mention the people that do custom coilovers. A good place to start is by reading through build threads, and see how other people set their cars up. Obviously you need to take it with a grain of salt, but its good for a general knowledge of how to go about things. Also, does your budget allow for coilovers? For decent new coilovers and brakes it will cost around $1500.
  3. True, I guess its refering to less spring 'sag' due to increased rate. But as you say, coilovers are adjustable
  4. AU? They are acceptable I guess, if you have decent shocks paired with them (short stroke as well). I have had falcons with commodore excel g's in my car. Nice, quite stiff but still comfy enough for me. BUT 1) they will be cut to fit, & 2) they don't sit properly on the spring seat. Proper springs like AJPS ones are what you should get ideally.
  5. OK. What are you confused about? First of all a good place to start is with a 50mm strut. Either a AE86 or Corona item, this allows you many options for shocks
  6. Yes but try getting good shocks to suit hard springs that will fit in the AE71 strut. S13 will cost roughly the same to set up correctly. Ae86 is easier, and virtually bolt in. You can also use Corona struts, which have a bigger stub axle apparently. Coilovers will not be legal anyway, unless you plan on engineering it. This makes no sense.
  7. Sounds like its set right. Probably isnt actually 30 degrees. Which notch are you using on the crank pulley? Theres one on the back, two on the front. That caught me out before, use the rear mark.
  8. Depends what rear housing it has, but if its a KE70 rear housing yeah its fine. Maybe check the plate thingy for what transmission the parts car originally had, so you can find out if it were originally auto
  9. KE70 stock clutch kit was $120 ish Do you have picatur of the rear of the flywheel? Pretty hawt looking
  10. I saw that red AE86 today Moses, looks pretty original except for the superlites! Seems like you'll have replaced everything on your wagon haha :( Faded is patina, and patina is cool seabiscuit  gosh havent you noticed how sam rolls hehe
  11. Which engine? 2wd? Also there was a good place for windscreens on gilmore rd in queanbehole, not sure if they moved though
  12. Hell no haha, although I spotted a red sprinter the other day on GDE My KE70 is my only toyota. Theres a baby blue 70 in bungendore too, pretty average condition but
  13. :) Yeah chrome bars should look pretty good on black. Newies should be about $400. Sussy first? Some would say stance is everything...
  14. Please do not. Hard to acheive a decent fender mirror look. Will not suit
  15. Again, thanks for the invite Jeremy :) I wont bother putting mine on the dyno haha but I can probably come along. Afternoon cruise / photo session? Or go harass Sam at fyshy go karts :)
  16. Yeah I like this penrite everyday oil as well, good bang for buck I think. Has performed better than other oils that I've tried.
  17. After the 18th? Becuase thats when I'm free woo time off :)
  18. Many people with sidedrafts use redline or K&N filters. Probably the easiest option Might be getting a bit close to the brake master though with the 4age/ae71 set up. Measure it up :)
  19. The starter motor solenoid is attached to the starter motor. Passenger side under the exhaust there is two cylinder sorta things. Wack the small one with previously said lump of wood and you might get lucky...
  20. Seconded, check the battery terminals too
  21. Cooool, orange is a colour that will grow on you. My KE70 is orange (same as that one featured by super street), and at first I wasnt too sure if I liked it but it doesnt always look dirty like red or black, and you don't see many other orange cars around! Can send you a photo if you like?
  22. Happy Birthday Chappo :D Do a fat skid to celebrate? Also, I wasnt game for the hilllclimb cos of the rain, did anyone else go?
  23. Sounds like your dizzy has a sloppy shaft or advance plate thingy. Check if theres play in the dizzy shaft
  24. Yes they can be swapped around, theres a few that have been done. Have to be careful about the cam timing though.
  25. Yeah I might be going. Would be good to catch up with you fellas. I recently put a strut brace in mine Sloth, it was definately worth it! Think I might buy / make up some fender braces too...
