Don't sell it, it looks like you have done so much hard work to come this far. Is all that time and effort (frustration) worth $2000? Keep going, you might have to put it on the back burner for abit but don't let this go.

Wow, don't sell it! Keep it, hide it and enjoy it until you can not drive anymore.

Hey just wondering if any of the KYB shockies compensate for a larger tyre? Otherwise ill be getting the angle grinder out and making these tyres fit. Currently got stock shockies and springs, had 195/60's on the front so I thought they would fit on the back. :( Cheers

I've done a few of these conversions before and currently doing one right now the 4age will bolt straight up with the mounts you have from the 4afc, the (4age's C52 gearbox) is the same set up and you can use the CV's boots and shafts from your (C50 gearbox 4afc) the only problem with this conversion is the electrical side. Going from carbie to EFI you need the fuel tank from an SX or GTI and getting the fuel pump to trigger when you turn the ignition on. If you come across any problembs or need some advice msg me on 0424 765 052 I'll be glad to help you out. Ian

I did all the work myself, so not much at all. Replaced the rings, water pump, gaskets, belts, bearings, top to bottom seals the only thing I didnt touch was the valves as they were still pretty good. Got a new clutch, cv boots and all fluids around. After I was done it had cost me about $1100.oo on all that the engine gearbox and loom/ecu was picked up off medicine man for $550. Had to change the fuel tank and add lines so got them cheap off a wrecking sx. If you were to take this to a shop and get it done I'm sure it would cost a bit in labour as well.

Hmmm another ae92 with a 4AG :)

Fuel issue by the sounds of it. Just do a basic diagnostic, check that nothing has blocked your air flow, check spark by arcing the plugs and check the fuel pressure at the rail. If its all fine then your pretty much f@$ked and you should take it to a mechanic before you break something.

Hey, efi is easier as in it already comes on the engine no messing around and the carby needs mods ect. Reliability i would go with the efi in my own opinion I have personally had dramas with carbies

You can't quad cam this engine, but if you were thinking of quad throttle bodies then yes it can be done.
-
Anything can be done, but the effort/money issue could be steep. Would be worth it if you were planing on putting a GZE in there or something alike.

That chainsaw was f@$ked, Damn Cressbrook Dam is a mission. Would come, if only my little putt putt was on the road :(

There was a 5 amp drain and it was my alternator so now I'm up for a rebuild or a newbie.

It sounds like its making boost, maybe you have the gauge hooked up wrong. I recently put a boost gauge on my gze and i was able to get vacumme but not boost, now that i have fixed the wrongly placed T piping it is fine and It also happily makes 10psi with a good rev in neutral. hope this helps mate. Also would blocking the ABV off cause problems?

4age 16v/smallport Throttle Body Mod Idea
930LLO replied to Kozmo's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
Run a cold air intake to the hole that is on the side the battery is on and have it poking through near the left handside bumper blinker. Other than that put a small scoop on the bonnet near the intake to cool it? -
How To Tell Diff Between Bigport And Small
930LLO replied to roladude's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
what crankshaft are you after? the better one out of the 2 is the smallport being stronger. -
Your timing might be out a tooth on the cam gears I had the same issue with my 4age and it was the timing, have you checked to see if you are 180 degrees out?

Yeah I don't know much about electrics but this sounds like the problem I had with a honda accord it ended up being the distributor was stuffed a second hand one fixed it up so maybe give that a go?
