pretty sure ke30 leaf springs wont fit a ke70 wagon. ke30/55 and ke20 are the same size though..

Been there done that. Next stop K.I. And don't follow me, I'm going fishing :P

yeah my bad fellas, would have been cool to see some rollas and meet you all, but that would have required organisation and planning both of which pretty much went out the window on this spontaneous 'follow your nose' type adventure  haha for example we had actually planned on doing the GOR on the way BACK because apparently you get a better view. But then when we reached the turn off we got a little excited and couldn't help ourselves :rolls:

So.. a while back me and the missus decided to do a road trip along the great ocean road to melbourne. We hit the road last monday... Stopping at various landmarks along the way, we saw some amazing coastline and had an awesome time. This drive is a must do! The old beast purred along and did not miss a beat.. The Twelve Apostles was one highlight amongst many countless incredible places. We loved all the little coastal towns along the way.. In melbourne we did heaps of walking around and catching trams etc. as the traffic is horrendous... Can't be bothered uploading heaps of pics (we took like 500 altogether) so heres a couple from Eureka tower at sunset and also at the MCG on Friday night for Collingwood vs Carlton with 88 000 people... Had a great time, saw some cool shit, but by the end of the week I was fair over it and missed Adelaide so we took the inland route home on Saturday. It all went quite quickly really.. Our next destination is hopefully going to be Kangaroo Island! Cheers Chris

A styler such as yourself should be able to sort this out ! :P haha nah it looks really good. the only thing that looks strange to me is the font of the 'automotive styling' part. It's just not stylin'... Heres my 1 min effort.. The crown's a bit bulky for my liking too but hey what do I know I'm only a qualified artist :)

that sucks man... maybe throw the old motor back in and its time to rebuild it? although if u can't even afford export matt black to touch up your paint with then maybe thats not an option :P

Hey mate, welcome. Really nice looking wagon you have there... Heres my opinion.. Don't drift it. It's too clean. Don't buy an air filter, they are a waste of money. Save your cash and get some nice rims and lower it a bit, and just enjoy the great reliability, fuel economy and practicality that these little beauties were designed for... In the meantime have a look around the site. Most of what you want to know is already on here it's just a matter of finding it. Cheers Chris

Car looks great dude, must not be too far away from being on the road??
-
yeah man they would definitely look the goods with a bit of a tidy up.. any reason why you want 15s over 14s? or is it just that you like that style of rim? pozman they are 15x6.5 +7 and 15x7 +2

Hey mate, try and get the one piece gasket rather than the 2 piece. I think I payed 20 bucks for one. Do you know the condition of the 5k? How many ks on it? I'm hoping for your sake its not a smokey old bugger or something.. Anyway good work. Keep it up. Cheers ps. how did the bonnet go has it rusted in a cool way yet?

How To Fix Your Brand-New Ke Motorsport Electronic Distributor
Oh-KE replied to altezzaclub's topic in Car Electrical
Very interesting... So do you think this lack of advance would also be happening in standard points type dizzys? Because i went to test my vac advance the other day and it worked when I sucked on it but I had to suck pretty damn hard to get it to move... maybe if i gave the springs a little tweak it would help?? Great write up... Cheers -
Gday mate, I only JUST fixed an issue very similar to this in my ke38.. Turned out to be the brake pads but in my research i found that a brake pull can also be caused by issues with the front calipers. If the front pulls left it might mean the right hand caliper might be not doing its job. Maybe try swapping in another caliper, only takes a few minutes..

Found some interesting info on performance forums regarding cheap ke30 suspension mods. Posted by cheapracer. Some of it sounds a little dodgy to me lol...

I think it's actually called a Bailey Channel... ? Might help.. I just got some from a wrecker. Paid nothing.

I think he wants to know if it will fit with the ke55 mounts etc that he already has.. The ke55 rear bar is pretty damn thin... I too am interested to know of any alternative swaybars that would fit. Edit : oops too slow...

today at upi lonsdale yard spotted a ke36 van (saw it on ebay not long ago), pretty rusty not many good parts..., a flat front ke70 wagon and a few other 70s..

Haha thanks guys! I'm glad you like it as much as I do  The wheels definitely set it off.. But unfortunately it wont be getting painted just yet. I have started doing a few repairs to the body though.. Most recently was the passenger side rear wheel arch. Another few patches welded in.. Doubtfully the last of it either.. :bash: It came out pretty sweet though. Spray can touch up ftw This was the only process shot i took was already almost done.. Not totally finished but it will do for now..

Put my reverse eye leaf packs back in after adding another leaf, theres now 6, the bolts holding the spring pack together were only just long enough. Also put some fresh bushes there... nice and firm now, just right, and now I can actually put stuff in the back and not hit bump stops. With the old shagged standard height ke30 sedan ones in there, with worn bushes, it was a pretty bad. I was hitting bump stops with the weight of a full tank of fuel! Next thing for the rear end has to be shocks because the ones in there now look like they've been there since 1979.. I also picked up a rebuilt 3k carb off jono1986, cheers mate, its now running sweet as. It had idle set really really high though when I first started which I thought was strange but now I have adjusted it it idles super quiet and smooth. Heres a couple of pics...

Great score! How did you end up with this?! And why did nickyboy sell it?! Ah well.. .. I like what you have done already, looks super clean! Not massively keen on the wheel arch chrome.. :hmm: But I say KEEP THE VISOR!!! Interior pics?? Such a nice Toyota...

Hey mate, heres where the photos were from.. not very long ago really! Pity you didn't get to it when it was like because it looks like your going to do this car a huge favour. Look forward to more progress... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/showthread.php/4435-SA-KE70-panelvan-Chrome-manual-rego-fresh!! A very similar thing happened to my wagon before I got it. Was overrated, then all it takes is one person and its an absolute sh!tter... Still a decent base for a project, you should be able to get it looking good again, Good luck! Cheers, Chris

nice white ke55 coupe, square headlights, rims on anzacs this evening

Hey man, it was a pretty annoying process actually. First become a member of a club. I have family membership with fiat and lancia club of sa thanks to my dad. Maybe try sporting car club sa. Then I had to get the car inspected for originality. Then bought rego. Then had to get log book assigned and away you go... Took me a couple weeks of tracking down the right people to get it all sorted. Cheers

Standard interior, all i did was paint it black. So the wheel arches used to be cream vinyl like the seats. Panel vans must not have this? Maybe you could pick some up from a 4 dr wagon? They don't look very complicated though, so you probably could make some... Got my log book. Car is officially a historic motor vehicle! Registered till 12/02/12 for $131, during which you can only drive the car 90 days and you have to record it in the log before you drive it. So cheap! Now i can save for another two 30+ yr old corollas :P and get them both on historic reg too, thats 6 days a week driving for $393 a year instead of 700 for normal rego haha but then there's the problem where do I put them..... :hmm:
-
Thanks, I'm very happy with it although its not THAT clean and more will be done to really clean it up in the future. Some body work and fresh paint would really make a big difference.. Chillin- I ended up going with 175/65 all round. No clearance issues so far but I haven't really driven it much yet because its out of rego.. Tonight actually I'm going to get my log book for historic registration. It will be good to drive it again with the new rims
