  1. Thanks guy's for your comments :y: My other plans are to get rid of the stock 13inch steelies and put on some bigger mags, which should set it off nicely. I will also be getting the front drivers guard straightened out and also put a straight front bumper on her. There will most likely be more things happening to her once I get her registered, and then it will be no stopping me.  It will be used as my daily, so I won't be going all out. :P Cheers, Mark.
  2. Just a bit of an update on my ke55 project. I have found another 5-speed from a ke70 which I needed for the extension housing to bolt onto my ke55 5-speed as it has the shifter position a little further back and it lines up with the original hole in the floor where the auto selector came through. Everthing is bolted up except for the tailishaft and the gearbox cross-member, as I will be getting the manual and auto cross-member welded together as there is no holes in the floor to bolt in a manual one. Oh and once that is done all I have to do is wire up the reverse switch and put the centre console back in, fill the box up with oil and all should be good. :( :( :y: It's been a while, but the 5-speed manual should be better then the slug-o-matic auto that was in her. :y: I also gave the engine bay a degrease, and now you have to put on your sunnies when ever you lift the bonnet. ;)
  3. Have come across this pulley issue myself. The 5k motor actually has a much larger crank pulley about 25mm difference and narrower belt groove than the 3k and the 5k has rubber sandwiched inside it to flex where as the 3k is solid. :y:
  4. Oh no what have you done to my old ke55 coupe :lmao: :wtf: :)
  5. I decided to install a tacho in place of where the clock was, while I am waiting to sort out my 5-speed gearbox. :y: ;)
  6. I had the same problem, I just undid them out of the door frame and cleaned them up and squirted them with WD-40 to free them up so that it made good contact in the switch. ;) :y: Worked wonders. :bash:
  7. Hey mate nice ke70 you have there. In your profile you need to put a location, so we know where you are from. Cheers, mate. ;) :)
  8. I'll have to look out for her in the hood. :)
  9. Thanks mate for the pics, she's fairly well looked after. :)
  10. not bad, gotta love the panelvans. ;) :) engine bay and interior pics would be great. :D
  11. Yeah I've already got a manual crossmember, but the floor in the ke55 auto's are different to a manual ke55. I'll sought it out though, this won't stop me from putting in the 5-speed. :bash: Thanks for your help guy's. :y:
  12. Hi all, I am in the market for a ke70 5-speed and would like to know how much roughly are they worth, and are they in plentiful supply. :lmao:
  13. Yeah I will try and find a ke70 5 speed than. Also got a speedo cable the other day out of a manual car because the auto one is different length, went to put it in the back of the instrument cluster and it wouldn't fit. :lmao: Is there a difference between a ke30 and ke55 manual speedo cable. :P or are the back part of the speedo's between auto's and manual's different. cheers.
  14. Hi all, I have a 1980 ke55 auto, and am changing it to a ke55 5-speed manual. I started the conversion today but when I went to bolt in the 5-speed, the shifter and gearbox crossmember didn't line up. :lmao: So I am just wondering is it as simple as changing it to the ke70 5-speed extension housing which has the shifter in the further back position. This should hopefully line up the gearstick with the original selector hole, but do I need a ke70 5-speed rear crossmember, as I currently have a ke55 manual crossmember and it won't line up with the mounting holes in the floor. Remember this ke55 was a auto. Please any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Mark. :P :P
  15. Hi all I just finished putting in the manual pedal box without any problems. :lmao: :P At least something went as planned. :P :sob:
  16. Well things haven't gone all that smoothly when I went to put in the ke55 5-speed. :sob: First off I tried the manual gearbox crossmember up against the floor and it doesn't quite reach the holes. :P So then I slid the 5-speed under the car to see if everything else matched up, but you guessed it, the 5-speed shifter position didn't match the hole in the floor, and the rear mount was way out. :P :sob: (to far forward) The car is a 1980 ke55 auto and the 5-speed I have came out of a 1980 ke55xx manual coupe, so I thought all I'd need was a manual crossmember which I bought and it would bolt straight up to the floor, but it didn't. :sob: So now I decided that I need a ke70 5-speed rear extension housing to bolt onto the ke55 5-speed box, which should solve these issues and all SHOULD be sweet. :hmm: Nothing runs acording to plan :bash: Anyway I will start pulling out the auto pedal box and putting in the manual one and HOPEFULLY that should be all smooth sailing. :y: :y: If there is any small issues that you guy's have struck when doing the same conversion, please I would like to know. :y: :lmao: Cheers, Mark.
  17. Have just removed the rolla GMH TRIMATIC auto :P So I should hopefully have the 5-speed in by the weekend. :P Here's some pics of today's progress. :lmao:
  18. Hi Simon, I will grab a calender off you :) cheers.
  19. OMG. Did you torture the other driver for doing that. :y: :) :y:
  20. A lot of our older cars are found sitting in sheds or in paddocks, but when the govt did that big scrap metal cleanup when the price of metal was high, a lot were crushed, so you don't find many older cars in wrecking yards nowdays. :y: :y: But I'm doing my bit to save them as I have 2 ke20's, a ke11, and a ke55. :) Long live the Rolla's. :y:
  21. Yeah, thanks guy's us tasmanian's tend to hang onto our old cars. I Will be removing the auto this weekend and getting it all setup to put the pedal box and 5-speed in. :) :y:
  22. Hi all, did anyone see the ad in saturday 13th's examiner autoguide for 3 early corolla's for $600 under the MOTOR WRECKING section. 1 has rego til 5/09 but they won't seperate. :jamie:
  23. Thanks guy's for your comment's, much appreciated. :jamie: I couldn't believe the condition when I first saw it and when I saw the price I said to myself, I have to grab this. I Will post some more pics when I get the 5-speed in. Cheers. :no2: Here's a pic of the seats.
  24. Started removing the centre console, auto selector mechanism and cooler lines today. Shame it's been raining most of the weekend :jamie: . Hopefully I should get a lot more done next weekend. :no2:
  25. G'day all, this is my new project which I have only had for a couple of days. It's a stock 1980 ke55 SE sedan 4k Auto (slug-o-matic) which I picked up for $350 unregistered. My plans are to put in a 5-speed box and fix a couple of minor issues, such as the drivers guard has had a small hit and the front bumper needs to be straightened slightly. Other then that it's quite a tidy example of this model. Anway I know your all dying to see some pics so here she is. :)
