Just read through your thread the car is looking awesome can't wait to see the finished project. Had to read the whole thing. i have found even more motivation for my project ke35. I'm also at uni (currently on break) and finding the budget things a bit tough but getting there. Cheers for the motivation.

Update on the project. started to pull apart the rolla and getting prepared for spraying here are some of the photos. I was originally going to do a respray but only really go over what was already there. instead after closer inspection i decided the base paint wont be good enough so its all coming of and I'm going to strip it back to bare metal. hoping to have the car striped back and undercoated by late next week (fingers crossed). should be some photos of progress appearing in the next few days. first time ive ever taken on such a big project but will be fun. anyway here's what been done so far. A Bit over 33 years of dirt build up. Had some fun getting the bolts of the front guards next to the jack point. they were very stubburn one even needed to be ground of. ROLLA STORAGE. Cleaned out the shed at made some space luckily don't need much. Bonnet, boot lid and doors coming of 2moz. probably some more chrome aswell.

Hi there just changed the name of thread to something a little more appropriate " crispys project. 1975 ke35". I figured this will be an ongoing project which will hopefully get better and better everytime my bank account has a rise (uni budgets suck sometimes). also finally started to smooth out some dents.

Thought id upload some picks. First two are the before and after shots of my efforts to clean up the very tatty engine bay. I basically just cleaned it as much as i could then removed all the instruments from the sides and prepared it for some black touch up paint. then put it all back together. Also there is a pick of the hubcaps. thinking about going with something similar in mags what do you think? might be to dark but i reckon it will look tuff. anyway tell us what you reckon. BEFORE AFTER

Nah there are definately not chrome just plain black just to cover the rusty wheels. sort of thinking black mags after i finish the respray but not sure if they will disapear into the car to much. also i'll get some pics soon. Just been putting a new clutch into a v6 magna (crap job i hate pull type clutches) which is front wheel drive which involves dismantiling most of the bloody engine bay. so hasn't been to much action over the last few days on the corolla but have been cleaning up the engine bay as much as possible. Soon though as in hopefully this week the long process of smoothing out some dings and sanding back the car for a full respray will commence. then after that the suspension will ready for a overhaul cause by then i should have some more cash.

thanks, that will be interesting to see how it all comes together. hopefully my ke35 is going a bit better soon as more money comes in. Cheers Jacob

Hey mate just read your thread. car looks sweet don't know why so many people slaggin it off. i reckon thats a good effort doing it yourself. it would be pretty boring if every corolla was a clean looking stocker. if your going for a drift look i reckon it looks pretty schmick. interested to know how much you spent on your suspension set up and how it performs.

havn't been doing to much lately. but have just given the car a service. changed the oil, cleaned the points, new fuel filter (it was blocked causing power loss when putting the foot down.) Some new front tyres. just keeping it running until i fix my other car. then some serious work can start. put some hubcaps on that were on special at autobarn for 10 bucks. they look pretty amusing. still looking for an alternator bracket if any one has one and could post it or pick up if close. pm me if you can help out.

Today has been the start of painting and body work for the corolla. Firstly the front of the car was pulled of so that a respray of this area could be done. The car was then prepared and some new black paint was applied. it looks so much cleaner now. Whilst doing this i also cleaned some surface rust out from were the battery had leaked and coroded the metal. i then sprayed this as well. Looking to complete the engine bay soon. Here's some pic's of what went on.

HI all After a few hours mucking around in the shed the KE35 has had its first engine upgrade in the form of extractors. IT now goes a bit more (as much as 4k 'goes') sounds great and looks pretty cool hangin from the motor. Also replaced air filters and cleaned the carbie which seems to have made a difference. had i a minor set back though. the alternator bracket is badly cracked and need a new one. wont be driven until i fix it. any one that has a spare bracket can email me at [email protected].

HI ronnie .like your ideas on a 4age transplant. the colour is actually a really dark purple its a bit deceiving in the photo. I'm just about to start stripping back though for a new respray in the same colour . the paint when i bought it was poorly done and cracking. Dark blue will look pretty cool on the KE 30. also i like the little bonnet scoop (assuming that's your car in the pic). you'll have to post some pics when its finished. cheers

like your car. also got similar car a ke35. in the same sort of stage of getting things going alot smoother. would like to know how you get on with the head gasket.
-
cheers i'll keep lookin.
-
also should be able to do most things myself and have the help of mechanic mates. i would probs like to keep with the 4k until things get more serious later down the track.
-
fair enough that might be a bit further down the track but definately on the cards also looked at your project and interested to know where you find panels if you find them. namely a front right guard.

Hi there . just got my first corolla a 1975 KE35 hardtop. picked it up for $650 and drove it for 8 hours straight to get it home. shes got the 4k engine. but a four speed manual. the pics are attached if you want to comment.[ needing some advise on where to start in getting the little beast going a bit better. got some extracters and exhaust but thats about it. also would like to improve handling. what sort of price range is a 4age coversion worth?. is there any thing else could possibly look at? also what are some parts that are same as other models as this isn't the easiest thing to get parts for. any places that are best to look.
