  1. Not that I am trying to ram my opinion home (but let me know if you think I am) replacement with second hand or rebuild also would depend on how long you plan on keeping the car. If you plan on keeping the car forever then by all means rebuild, hell fix a whole heap of other things whilst it is off the road. If you plan on getting it back on the road and are going to get bored of it in a year's time and sell it, then do whatever for the cheapest cost you can to get it running again. You sure as hell won't pull a much higher sale price due to the rebuilt engine, people's mentality when buying second hand cars does not cater for this. Most want the cheapest they can get their hands on.
  2. Exactly, if you have no mechanical knowledge or skills to do it yourself you would probably be up for about $2500 including remove and refit etc. Which is why I suggested the option of a replacement second hand engine. You can get one of these without ECU and loom etc and all the things you don't need for prob $1K. Factor in about $500 for install and you have saved. Any importer worth their salt should offer a compression test prior to install and also some form of warranty especially if the engine is professionally installed.
  3. Well I do not think that way. I have noticed you getting more and more frustrated with things going on on this forum and I don't blame you. :)
  4. It would depend on what the motor needs done and why it needs a rebuild. But in reality Silvertop 20V's are going pretty cheap so you would be best to buy a second hand replacement from an importer.
  5. I doubt U Pull It are going to want it after you have finished with it. :) Their purpose is to buy cars that actually have some salvageable parts for people to buy and I doubt very much this car will fall into this category. Sims on the other hand will take it for the scrap metal.
  6. CAMRY - On a JZX100 Chaser in SA, well actually mine until I sold it That plate made everyone laugh, usually after they had had their ass handed to them. :)

  9. Red, if you re-read that it actually says that Kim has a respect for the Admin Team. I agree that the level of moderation on here has increased of late but so has the bad behaviour from members. Perhaps stop giving out friendly warnings in the Classifieds Section and start dishing out actual warnings. People will soon stop flouting the bumping rules if they realise they will get banned. Bit hard to sell something when you have been banned.... I agree that warnings should be dished out also for spamming but you have to display some leniency, there is deliberate spamming and there is also incidental spamming in my opinion. How many times have people hit the reply button to reply to a friend's topic and posted something without thinking. Then later thinking hey maybe I could have PM;d about that. I have been accused of spamming but in my opinion just over 100 posts in a 5 month period should not be considered spamming. New members perhaps need more information/education when they join about what is expected here, etc. Everyone has something to add to this forum but if all certain members have to add is posting in the off-topic section and they are not willing to share any technical information or offer to help other members with things actually related to cars (which is what this site is about at the end of the day) then they should join a Lifestyle Forum.
  10. They are from Kaizen Garage, $67 including post.
  11. Either Castle Hill or try CMI in the city, guy in spare parts there knows his shit if he is still there. Sean I think his name was, always easy to find parts for the Supra and the Chaser so worth a shot. Some of the other dealerships wouldn't deal in import parts too much so prob don't know what they are looking for. Anyway, just trying to help, good luck with it. :)
  12. Have you thought about trying Castle Hill Toyota? They specialise in import parts and promise to have stuff in within 10 business days from Japan. I bought some things from them for my JZA80 and they were awesome to deal with. www.chtoyota.com or something similar just google it.
  13. Yeah to me it looks fairly bright and could get annoying. Is it as bright in person as it is in the pics?
  14. They are wicked hey, I got mine in the post yesterday. I reckon I rang Anthony three days before, paid direct into his account and it was in the post in my post box within those three days. I have already fitted mine and if it wasn't all shiny and new you would think it was meant to be there all along. :) An absolute awesome guy to deal with, wish he sold more 20 valve specific parts tho :(
  15. Can anything be done about the abominable spelling that appears to be popping up of late. The amount of SMS type speak and missing letters in sentences is bordering on mental. It gives me a headache reading some of the stuff posted at times.
  16. I had chosen to ignore the issue actually and play nice. I have since respected what you asked me to do and not mentioned it again :D In my post above I actually said 'maybe' in my comment so you are jumping to conclusions.
  17. Chat in your own regional area seems to be forbidden, at least in SA and all topics are closed or deleted. Maybe that is why we let loose in other areas of the forum Or.... Maybe we have an overzealous/over-the-top Region Leader. I know on another forum that I used to frequent (name withheld) they have a SA Off Topic thread in the SA Section that is just useless chat. It keeps the rest of the forum off-topic area tidy and all you need do is delete a whole heap of pages once in a while. There is no need to have 144 pages of any topic really, noone looks at the last 140 pages anyhow. To me this forum seems a little over the top in terms of moderation but in saying that I respect what you are doing here providing a valuable resource of information etc. My question is... why provide an off-topic area at all if you are going to continually have to waste too much time and effort on it and complain about the topics and chat that goes on in there?
  18. If all else fails there was a 20 valve motor in the trading post in SA last week that required rebuild for $450. Rebuild was due to being smoky apparently. Purchase and sell off all the good bits and keep the plastic cover = win. The quad throttles alone would be worth $200. And the head would be good for someone for another $150 or so. The guy selling was a bit of an enchilada though but he might be getting desperate by now as it's been for sale for over a week. :D
  19. Find someone with a turbo KE70 with a decent amount of power and I mean somewhere around 160rwkw. Go for a ride in it, crap your daks and realise that they don't handle with that amount of power and no traction. Then come up with some interesting NA mods to make your 4AGE breathe better, sound more hardcore and make a little more power that you can actually use. I went for a 20 valve in my AE71, more revvy, quad throttles so the induction will be pure sex, and useable power Hell I had a JZX100 Chaser before this, so I know what it's like to be addicted to boost. :D
  20. Go see Buddy Parts he will probably have all the parts you are looking for and be able to do it for you if you are not able to or willing to. You probably need to find a cheap T28 off an S13 Silvia, get dump pipe and intercooler piping etc and off you go. Beware though you may not have the right size injectors and also the tune will not be right for turbo so some work may be needed there. Best thing to do is do all your research first, find out a rough cost and if you still like it then go for it. In my opinion you do not need a turbo to enjoy the KE70 chassis. I had a CA one and my mate has an SR one. We have both been in a NA 4AGE one and agree it is much more fun to drive, you CAN ACTUALLY drive it properly, and you can make use of ALL the power all the time, rather than being too scared to most of the time. You do not need big power to have fun in these things, but each to their own and maybe I am getting too old and grumpy.
  21. WGMG - a forum member agreeing to buy a part from you at an agreed price and then asking for a discount due to the need to pay for extra petrol to get to my place because it is apparently too far for them to drive. So when you go to a shop do you ask for a discount for petrol money then too coz the shop was too far away?? :D
  22. As for comfort zones, I think the idea was to make people comfortable as we do not need crashes and the like on Rollaclub cruises. Why don't you meet at ETSA Park or somewhere similar, it is central and then head up the freeway to a hills destination. To those whining about taking time to get to meet point, that's how the cookie crumbles I am afraid. Adelaide spreads far and wide and you can't possibly begin to cater for all in a meet point. Too far?? Don't come, simple!! To be honest, when my car is back on the road I would travel anywhere for a meet point to hang out with some fellow rolla fans  ######
  23. I always see this thing in my travels so I know what I am on the look out for. Will keep an eye out and your no. on me mate in case I see it
  24. I live on the main road so I sat on my porch while all the rotors went past, it was ummm..... awesome :D There are no traffic lights or interruptions for the group pretty much once you hit the freeway :|
  25. Up the top of screen, Knowledge Base/FAQ - click on this and search around it it will show you MOST of what you need. There will be little things to find out imho so either PM people or search other topics etc. It will take some time (I have spent countless hours) but the bulk of the information is here already. :|
