sorry guys its been a while, and i have been lazy ( i blame the weather). anyway heres a little update. got the pepperpots put on and i reckon they do the job. they suit the car so well, I'm very happy with them. i took the car back to toyota cos the exhaust leak came back and it just wasnt running right. they reckon they fixed the leak but i'm still not happy - its real noticeable on start up. I'm contemplating just getting brand newies and be done with it. turns out when they rebuilt the carby they forgot to put a spring back on!!! there was a spring missing from the throttle bit, so it was making the throttle stick and run like crap. hopefully it also fixes the random stalling problem too. i'll take photos this weekend and post them up soon.

congrats on the engagement! i'm gettn married in january and my fiance and i are the same as you. we want very simple meals and a cheapish wedding. we found that the expensive weddings we've been to were crap and didnt eat the food cos it was too fancy and we didnt know what we were eating :-). we have booked st francis winery cos we found that they have proper meals like steak, chicken and seafood. simple stuff like that. they also do cocktail weddings where they serve finger food (even cheaper again) most places charge about $110 per head minimum, st francis is around $50 per head. hope this helps. cheers kate

have been thinkin bout the rims (and after my fiance saw the car) i reckon the pepperpots are the way to go. so hes letting me 'borrow' his spare set to see how they go. hopefully will have them on by next weekend.

neither can i !!! it has been painted, but needs to be rubbed back and done again cos there was a shite load of silicone on the orginal paint and it showed once the paint had been done. i would have had it back probs next weekend, but cos of this silicone shite will prob be the following weekend. the stupid exhaust leak has reared its ugly head again, so i am debating to take it back to toyota and make em fix it or just rip the whole thing off and start again. sounds like its coming from the extractors again, which they (toyota) machined and refaced, and i paid a few hundred for :D

my fiance and i painted the door trims this morning, ready for the rolla to return. they came up pretty good. the cream ones needed more coats than the brown ones, but still came good in the end. heres some pics :y:

yeh, i think that everyone thinks this car is going to be pink when i say pink pearl. but if it comes out right it should be a slight pink fleck in certain angles under sun light. i can't wait for it to be finished yeh ended up selling both rollas on the day after posting them.

three weeks down the track and its finally coming together. should hopefully be finished in about two weeks.

yeh black trim was the practice one. looks good close up. it looks likes its always been that way, I'm really happy with it. gonna do the the rest of the trims while the cars being painted. i could not get the last frikn bolt off the boot vent, so i had to get in to the boot to reach it.

heres some pics from the weekend, taking a few things off of it. had to leave most of it together so i could drive it out into the boondocks :-P (at least it was an awesum drive) will hopefully have progress shots as it comes along over the next few weeks.

regency is tough on old cars. i had a trx that got defected to regency because of a tiny drop of oil in the engine bay. regency went over it with a fine tooth comb. i had a tiny bit of surface rust on a door hinge and they were pulling the door towards the front of the car to try and make it snap. they took the stock engine to limiter til it pissed out smoke, and said that i wouldnt get it off defect cos of that. the car never blew smoke when i drove it, and didnt after they did that. but they don't listen to ya. who drives the car on rev limiter anyway! good luck, it was my worst nightmare sitting there watching them pick your car to pieces and trying to wreck it. i could of burst into tears watching them. hope you don't have the same problem. fingers crossed.

cheers you don't happen to have a good drivers door trim? u pull it don't have any and toyoland has one but its torn.

my fiance doesnt want to part with his spare set of rims. i don't know why? he's cruel if u ask me :-) considering its gonna be frikn hard to find a half decent set . I'm gonna wait til the car is painted then work out what rims to put on then. whether they will be a newish look or old skool, not sure. car is all sweet now (fingers crossed) cos what i just spent on it has made me broke :-( although saying that i think i may have a brake problem. if i brake late or too hard the car pulls to one side (feels like brakes working on only one side) but if i brake gently its ok. so will have to take it off the road for a while til i can have the brakes looked at. hopefully it will be getting painted soon anyway, so it will be off the road for a couple of weeks then. the heating thing is only when I'm on the expressway. it'll go up to just over half but as soon as i get to the end the car stalls (without fail, same spot everytime) thought that would have been fixed with all the tuning and stuff i had done, but no. i reckon the car is heaps louder now with the exhaust fixed and tuned. everytime i see a cop i deaccelerate if i can. sounds good though.

i agree with you there, i was finding that i was either goin too slow and being overtaken or goin too fast and leaving people behind. no win situation. was good to get the old galant opened up. my fiance drives it like a nanna. should have got rid of a few cobwebs i reckon  finally got my rolla back today so hopefully next time she'll be making an appearance. -

i was there in the purple galant. sorry i'm a bit shy when it comes to meeting new people. and sorry bout leaving early, i was feeling crook from the heat. why couldnt they have invented air-con in cars pre 1975? -
forgot to mention that the extractors were warped and the work that i had paid for originally did shit all. toyota had supposedly fixed this and the timing chain and were waiting to this morning to do a cold start to see how she went, and i was supposed to be picking it up today. toyota rang this morning and said it didnt go well, that they attempted a test drive but could even get it upto 60kmh while the engine was cold, but once it was warmed up it ran fine ????? i had always put this down to being an older engine seeing as my first ke30 (3k) did the same thing. guess i'll just have to wait til monday morning to find out :-( i suppose its good that they just havent given up on it and told me to take it somewhere else. just a bit worried what the bill is gonna be when i pick her up!
-
cheers budowski, yeah it is myles old car. i really wish i knew what the problem is. your feedback is much appreciated though can you reccommend someone to take it to down our way?
-
yeah i know. it only went there to get service and tune, cos its close to home and my fiance can walk to there to pick/up drop off. but they picked up all these probs while it was there and havent had her back since. the only prob i/they def no of is the carby leaking and they want $350 to fix. no way am i paying that!! they have been told they are not to fix it. but they are keepimg i til monday at least cos there are no mechanics there til then that know carbi motors. everyone there atm know efi's
