So as most of you all can see by my join up date/ posts made etc i am more than quite new here.
I recently bought a 79 ke55 sedan. Basically because i love older cars always have and when i took one look at this i was like yess!
I don't know jack about cars, i know how to drive one thanks to living on many many acres out in wisemans ferry/st albans as a young kid, but apart from that i even had to read the bottle changing the radiator fluid the other day.
Due to various court, police and train fines i've only managed (recently) to get my license (I'm 23) so cars in general, especially when it comes to motors and the like are very new to me.
anyway enough of my life story here's my problem
My car simply won't idle, it will run fine etc but when i take the foot off the accelerator it just dies on me, the person/friend i bought it from says its because it has twin webers and it won't idle because there's too much fuel being pumped into the engine..although i don't doubt that too much fuel being pumped into the engine is a problem surely there is a way around this without putting on single webers? (as my friend suggested)
Anyway i have plenty more question so I'm going to use this thread to bring up things to you all and hopefully get some invaluable help in return.
Here are some details on my car (although ill have to take some pictures of it all thoroughly to make sure this is all correct, just let me know what i should take pictures of haha)
theres some surface rust and a quite a few dings but nothing really bad, well nothing worse than a shopping trolley could inflict basically
Twin webers
Flat Top Pistons
Stage 4 Cam
Oversized Crank
4K Head 5k Block
5spd Celica Gearbox
Lowered king springs king shocks
2 1/2" Burkley Exhaust with Extractors
sound
6x9 6" door 12" sub
I paid 1700 for it and the car in question is the picture in my avatar
did i get myself a decent deal, or did i get jibbed?
I also wouldn't mind putting a couple of grand into it once i start saving some cash and pay for rego/green slip etc
I love these type of cars and want mine looking nice :bash:
One last thing while on the subject of green slips who have you all found to have the most decent prices in NSW?
I'm hearing the Commonwealth Bank but surely there has to be somewhere better...I'm a poor bastard basically and would like to put my money into my car as opposed to filling up some already overflowing pockets
thanks!
