Actually... It is 6.7 litres and boost.... But we'll show him ;) And yes it gets around Toowoomba heaps... It is a daily driver.
-
LOL.... New motor in by powercruise then? Ann 11 is within reach with more boost :( Don't be scared :(
-
Ohh.... Race fuel :lolcry: Then I can really get serious. This could get fun. Not going for a juiced up fuel before the BC drag day?? I still have some here ;) Will be a while till I will be using it again. Yes... i just heard about that pintara too.
-
It's not actually that rich, as it is making fullboost of 18psi by 4100rpm. The tune was made fairly conservative for now to try and preserve the engine. It should make some good power when pushed a little harder with some better fuel  I reckon it should easily run 115mph also, but we will find out in a few weeks eh. :) Looking good by the way..... Cheers

I would say yes there the same as long as it is a jap diff. I have both a ke30 jap diff and a ke36 jap diff. Both the same length.
-
Ah yeah... sorry Done......

Hey just browsing around... and I see this. Yes I have done the conversion.. Though it was in a KE55 Sedan, but I think it would be the same as a KE30. So Fook... Did you ever get around to doing this, as your post is dated early 2004. For starters. Find a complete R31 Skyline axle.. Your choice should depend on the ratio in which you would prefer.. R31 Skyline Manual - 3.7:1 28 Spline axles R31 Skyline Auto - 3.9:1 28 spline axles R31 Pintara Manual - 3.9:1 25 spline axles R31 Pintara Auto - 4.11:1 25 spline axles. Next job is to work out a length... I can't remember the length that we used, but i assume it was near standard length, maybe a touch shorter. We shortened the r31 Housing by a total of 130 mm. Before cutting the housing up.. Make sure to measure the overall length of the housing only, as what the shortened legth is, is how much you shorten and repline the axle by... The borgwarner diffs have 2 different length axles in them.. You use the shortest axle still, tho it now ends up as the long axle. Measure the differnce in axle lengths, and this is how much the housing will get shortened by on the opposite side to which the short axle was fitted. Now the other side will be shortned however much you want, nut keep in mind that the housing has to be shortened a minimum off 100mm in order to respline the axle. Get axle resplined by engineering shop to specified length.... No start putting it all back together :hmm: If you find you need more info email me... or add me to msn [email protected] Cheers Jamie

Had another visit to willowbank again on Saturday night... Got quite a few runs in and finally cracked into the 12's with a 12.83@111mph.. Just getting a few things sorted with the car, as you do with a new combination... This car hadn't even seen the road for 3 years until 3 weeks ago. Also had a change to 4.11 diff gears.. BTW them 8" rims look good, but we raced this week on some falken azenis on 15" alloys... still has traction problems too... should be good for at least a 12.5. Bar all that, it still stops and corners really well, and a tonne of fun to drive.. Will have to meet up with a few of youse so you can check it out sometime..
-
Just a note for a few people here.. the corolla is now almost finished and is now registered.. Made a trip to Willowbank Raceway on the 11th.... Best run for a first timer was a 13.21@109mph... Plenty more to come from it too.

Demuire : Sorry this reply has been a while, but the diff is running a 3.7 centre. justatoy : As for the amount of money that has been sunk into this car, I think the owner would rather keep that to himself, but lets just say that it probably enough to buy a new car.

Here are some picture of the axles These First two pictures show the difference between the axles. Shortest one is the new shortened and resplined axle, and the other two are the standard axle, Short and long. And the new sline after being shortened.
-
Yeah my mistake, i did mean $1000 The diff was shortened 130mm in total. That is 50mm off one end, and 80mm off the other. Axles in these, like any diff are two different lengths. You use the shorter axle in the opposite side to which it came out of, and get the longer one shortened and resplined 130mm shorter. Reason for this is the minimum an axle can be shortened is 100mm as it tapers done and the spline on the end is larger than the axle. I have purchased an LSD skyline diff for $275 complete, but I just sold an LSD out of an EF XR6 (which is interchangable) for $300. Hope this helps BTW : It costs me $100 to get an axle shortened and resplined.

There is a bit of work involved in the diff. This particular one cost in total around $100 with new slotted rotors. We used: * R31 silhouette Skyline diff complete, shortened 130mm * One axle shortened 130mm * New Slotted Disc Rotors * New Pads * Diff had LSD fitted along with new bearing and wheel bearings * Skyline mounts removed and the new mounts welded on. Then you also need to modify the tailshaft to suit. Hope this helps

Yep diff looks pretty stock... Just a little larger and also has the R31 disc brakes on the back. Front brakes are RA60. Last shot... no bump stops.. no struts actually. Looks FAT though. And as for the 2 spring mounts thing... The second one is actually the swaybar mounts from the r31 diff... They never got removed as they may one day be used. Last pic for today also
-
Let us know what you think of this shot.... Looked pretty sick I reckon.
-
Been busy lately on the corolla again. Just some update shots of the Front brakes and the R31 diff that has been shortened to fit. Also some interior shots. It's not too far off being finished now as you may well see.
-
Lookin good there Fook... It has come a long way from when I seen it a few weeks ago. Also looks like you have lots of fun in the process.. :)
-
Those look great there Demuire. You can never have too much breaks. Mind if you elaborate a bit more on the parts you used etc... Also what's the dimensions of those spacers in the struts, and where did you get the coilover kit from.... Also strut tops...Adjustable?? I'm just trying to find info for my Soarer build up Thanks

20 Degrees... That's fine then i think I have mine on about 18-20 degrees... Sure make a huge difference over the standard 8 degrees... BTW... I checked my Air/Fuel ratios last night, and at full throttle it sits at about 11.0:1, and at idle the meter reads lean, but not sure really... it fuels up after a bit. Also i would say the motor idles about 800-900rpm, but cannot be sure without a tacho.
-
Any how... At idle it is quite richbit high in the revs, it seems fine... I have an Air/Fuel meter here, so i should see what it really is... Idles i thinks should be quite lean really.. Just out of interest, what is your timing set at Nick?
-
Need to know (if you do that is) what size jets people have in these when on a mild 4k. The secondaries on mine feel good, but the idle the power transition is way the rich, and it is doughy as hell until it hits about 2500 rpm. Long shot I think, but you never know... I know Nick has one of these for his KE70, is it on there yet??
-
I have rebuilt the motor for my KE70 wagon, and just give you an idea of some prices. All up I spent $360... That's rings, pistons, timing chain, full gasket kit, oil, filter, coolant and fuel filter, plugs and points. Full Gasket Kit 4k-c $70 Full set of rings 2mm, 2mm, 4mm $80 New pistons including pins $150 Timing chain $14 The price of a full rebuild kit for a 4k is about $460.. includes everthing above and bearing as well. Built the motor at home, put it in last night and got it running today. Also got a very lumpy cam in it too (not sure on what specs it is, but it is huge :D), and a match ported 3k head, with the big port inlet manifold, weber 32/36, genie 4 into 1's, 2" exhaust Hope this helps :) :) :D

His rolla is already a 2+ year project... :D
-
Yeah, I am building it for a mate, but it aint being done for free. A cruise sounds good... The car in question should be completed in the next 5 or so weeks as funds have started flowing again.
-
I'll throw in a pic of the KE55 for ya all. I got creative too. :D That's if that's what you want. BTW the car is not mine, it is a mate of mine that i am building for him... He is also a member of this forum (as OKE055), but as yet has not posted. Here is a resized pic.. The high res pic can be found here also http://www.eftel.com/~jkuhn/rolla-oke055.jpg
