  3. that was some AMAZING driving.... (speechless, dropped jaw)
  4. Hey guys, sorry to bother you guys about things like this.. must make me sound really dumb or something.. but i've been searching for a manual of some sort for this car... can't find it here... and its kinda expensive to post it from Aussieland too.. anyway.. anyone know of the existence of a drainage system in a KE70? everytime it rains, i keep hearing this constant slushing sound from under the driver's door... i thought at first it came from the door itself (rubber seals from the driver's window not in good condition) and water might have collected inside the door... but nothing of that sort (i took apart the door panels, no water inside)... sounds comes from just below the doors.. on another note, i ripped apart the interior carpeting... found water (again?!?!) on the driver's and passanger's side of the flooring (is this what you call it?).... planning to fix the leakage (maybe i'll leave this to the professionals), finish the interior with a fresh coat of paint, sound proof it and getting some new carpets for the insides... hope i'll be able to share some photos with you guys... this morning took so much out of me that i wasn't able to snap any photos at all... shed some light on the earlier issue? thanks guys! :jamie:
  5. hey teddy, yeah... tried that... drenched the parts with WD40 even!! sprayed the parts till the lubricant dripped like dew from the morning leaves! goes away for a day or two... but comes back to haunt... oh yeah.. the squeals only come when i am driving, doesn't come when i try to open and close the boot lid.. don't know why... guess if this goes on... i'll have to stock up with WD40s for the rest of the car's life!! :jamie: thanks for your input guys!!
  6. yeah cookie... didn't solve it.. hey guys... the squealing is still there even after i took out the boot springs... hmmm.. don't know what i'm gonna do bout this.. however, good time to try out hydraulic bonnet (hehehe, in this case boot) lifters...!! :jamie: any other ideas on why there is squealing? cookie... any ideas?
  7. yes!! a torsion bar... that's what it is!! sorry for my incapability of searching for the right term.... anyway, will try out what you suggested KE-JG... thanks lots!! and to the rest of you too!!! :(
  8. well... not exactly the hinges... you know.. the hinges don't work by themselves rite? there are these two bars that run to the middle of the upper portion of the boot, just below the speaker console... don't know whether i am making myself clear .... hehehehhe ... sorry... maybe i'll try to get some photos and maybe that might help... but, of course, if anyone does understand what i am talking about... hehehe.. appreciate your help guys! the squealing is killing me!!! :(
  9. Hey guys, working on removing some squeals in this 1981 KE 70 of mine and detected some sounds coming from the boot springs. was just wondering how in the world you get these metal bars out? there doesn't seem to be any parts that can be taken out. can anyone lend some ideas to this? thanks lots! :( jeffrey.
  10. Guys, Having this terrible squeaking sound coming from my boot. 1981 Corolla KE70. Think its the bar that holds the boot up. Whenever I drive, small movements of the car will cause it to squeak. My whole journey is filled with squeaking. Anyone encountered this before? Need some help before I break that bar. So what if it doesn't hold the boot up. Help! Just need it to stop squeaking!!! Thanks guys! :y:

  18. don't think the lighter is threaded... if it was... would've been able to unscrew it... it seems like something is holding it... i can turn it 1/3 of a turn... but not all the way... can't seem to pull it out as well... don't know what's holding it in.... thanks for your reply.. happy to be here..
  19. Hey guys, Very new here... Love the forum... get to see rolla owners around.... anyway, i've got 2 things i need help on.. i drive a 1981 KE70 and i need to replace the ciggy lighter but can't seem to get it out of the bracket that's holding it in... any idea on how this is done? also... i am trying to remove my entire dash.. don't know where the exact screw locations are... i am actually trying to clean the dash, there were some funny burning smell coming out from the air conditioning vents.. but that's beside the point and anyway i have found the source of that.. but i do need to remove the dash to clean the area in there... also toying with the idea of scrapping the entire meter display and putting custom gauges in... (though not as what Valandor has done, but buying individual after market meters and fitting them together..:( ) here's a pic... appreciate your help guys!
