Ke35 Corolla Vs Ta22 Celica
oh what a nissan feeling! replied to pingushred's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
My opinion is go the ta22! Coil rear end definately has way more potential to handle. Having driven and worked on both though, the ta22 is so much less of a coke can. When you shut the doors they shut solid, the panels in general are made of thicker steel, and the car is of more solid construction all over. Not to mention a better diff, more attractive shape, potential for a larger engine by law, ect. The only down side is the extra kgs you have to carry around. ..........and yes i know my car is a ke30. -

Them dash pads are a prick, i have one but they are only thin so they bend up on all corners, not really even useable. There is a rusty wreck with the early front in the paddock at the my oldies house, parts are hard to find, so if you need any random little bits that are unlikely to rust, let us know. -
Flat firewall :D a fair bit of welding, would look showy, up to you in the end. Youve got me all inspired now, i ripped my old engine out on the weekend, and started stripping paint. You move fast, its all happening!!! :D

This thing is very cool, 118mph with a slippery clutch! :D I also put my hand up to come for a spin - i need a bit of inspiration :D

Sigma Turbo Rims On Ke20???

yep they are the correct pattern for 114.3. The offset is quite wide, if you don't want to go very low they will be ok. -
Ke30 Rust Spots Can It Be Repaired?
oh what a nissan feeling! replied to Evan G's topic in Automotive Discussion
If thats all that is wrong with it, definately fix it. If the rest of the car is in the same condition, its probably a bit too far gone. -

Plans sound great, i think low is the main requirement :y: Nah, mine missed out on the little seat, it only came with the earlier ones like your blue one, such a shame. -
Soooo, once youre engine bay is stripped, do you wanna do mine? I am not looking forward to that part :) Nice work! :P

Man this is awesome! Keep us updated, i have a wagz in the same shape (MS57), with the later model front on it. I also have too many cars though, so it gets no attention yet..... -

 got my cage approved by andra inspector, just need my seat belt mounts done, and tailshaft loop to get it signed off. a few pics: got the paint for the rola and painted the cooler so it hides behind the grill a bit better. been a bit busy getting the shorty pejero i just bought going. I bought it with bhg and have got the heads fully redone and have reassembled it. It failed rwc on the cv boots, so i am doing those today. I have also been getting the commo ready to sell, painting and fitting a bodykit i got for free. Only problem is someone crashed into me on monday! Next task for the rolla is fitting the front seats, and the battery cut off on the rear of the car  -

Ok, car is getting the cage built as we speak, 6 point basic andra cage with removable side intrusion bar. + i added 2 extra bars. It is all mild steel, as chro-moly is not street legal :y: I think i need more power to tow the damn cage!!! Organizing my log book and andra licence now so i can get approvals. -

No same box in sr20 and ca18, different bellhousing though. so for the bluebird box, it would now need the sr20 front half put on it as well. -

Tailshaft has to be shortened and remade, all you need is the front bit really. diagram is correct. The rb20 gearbox is stronger, but you will have to change the front half of the box. The series 3 box is worth nothing, and is a bolt up fit, but is not as strong. If you use any of these 2 gearbox you will not have to hang the gearbox down. -

1. yes, new front mounts, new gearbox x member 2. Depends how you fit it, if you hang the gearbox a bit lower it will fit, people do it, and it works ok. The other option is a bluebird series 3 gearbox, they are shorter and fit well. 3. Shifter may come very close to the seat brace, depend how you mount the whole setup. Yes plate the other hole. 4. Yes, any dirty old datsun shaft has the right front yoke. 5. No, make new mounts out of plate steel, about 6mm thick. 6. Yep, it all affects the way your car steers, the best geometry is what it has already. Be very careful with how you change it. -
good to hear shes going good again, awesome car. ;) its a shame you are selling, but i understand, I'm in the same situation. A BA falcon though... ;) someones getting a good deal!

Ok, finally some new pics. I have been working every arvo for a few months now. I got my bottom end back from plr, had full balance crack test, line hoan, torque plate bore, crank grind ect ect. $960. sitting in the spare room atm until i can get a clean spot to put it together. sent the quads off to get heat coated too. Also spent a bit of time porting them to remove some of the casting edges and improve flow also disassembled my door handles by grinding the pins off, and sent them to the chromers. Had to paint strip them as well because of previous colour scheme. They will be back in 2 weeks. Have also spent many many more hours on the bodywork, and the whole car is now in undercoat finally, and is looking real straight so far on the final rubdown. Will start on my bumpers soon as they need a bit of brass work before they hit the chromers. :bash: -
damn man, you broke it. Oh well, good to see you so keen to get her back again!
