  1. chassis bracing??? um, no.
  2. If you have no luck beating the hubby, I'm pretty sure i have single at the oldies place, see how you go.
  3. I'm just glad that it is a t18 that you own.......do as you wish!
  4. ^^^^ this is correct, the other way listed would effectively reduce the capacity that your surge tank holds.
  5. I was actually going to nominate this for car of the year, it has plates on it! its just the lack of windscreens that made me decide my attempt would probably be futile.
  6. Man that looks absolutely fantastic, so insanely tidy!!
  7. tazrx, you give a bloody convincing arguement. +philby that is damn impressive! off to find your thread now......
  8. great to see some progress man, and agreed, never easy to get straight!!! Its just about persistence i think. With the steelies, you can buy outer rims just by themselves, they are available in all widths, 4, 7, 8 in 15s for under $60 each, just saves a heap of hassel cutting them out and all that. Not sure about 16s though. I can give you the number of the place here in brisbane if you wanted to ring and ask.
  9. No Really! The four cylinders they came with are lucky to reach the crossmember, lets not upset our perfectly balanced 1970s handling boys, thats it, I'm reinstalling the 3k and giving it back to grandma.:)
  10. very nice car, tidy ke25s are very hard to come by.
  11. 1g has been done a few times to both ke70 and 30/55. from what i have seen the fit is not as bad as you would imagine. Probably better off getting the car, and measuring tape, then go from there
  12. update, been working crap hours so progress has slowed, but its still going. Engine bay has had lots of attention, lots smoother, many many man hours. a bit of surface rust starting.. New tunnel clearance for the auto bellhousing, bolted the crossmember back up, put dummy block in, real happy! Started to build the new engine, waiting for a few parts atm, forgot to order big end bearings dammit. Also picked a new colour for my interior, decided white is tacky, so this is it. I picked it off a vinal sample and got it colour matched for the roll cage and other little bits Have more pics of more progress but the computer is gay, so will chuck them up soon.
  13. Very cool, real good idea to chop the whole floor, way neater. :jamie: :bash:
  14. Not sure, they are pretty hard to get hold so i have only seen photos, i dare say they are a different mount.
  15. ^^^ yes...and no. Alot of people choose to hang the gearbox lower to make it clear, it points your engine and everything up in the front a bit, but this is how the majority of conversions are done. The other option is to mod the tunnel to suit, which includes the brace the front of the seats sits on. Yet another option is a bluebird series 3 gearbox, a much shorter design, but weaker also, this is a popular option with the datto boys.
  16. Yep, good chicks car, my missus drives one. 600ks to tank ($45) and unbelievably reliable!
  17. oil pump oil distrubution cylinder spacing block design casing design. timing chain...............ect.
  18. Go the bush hearing one i recon. Same spool time providing the specs are the same. also you can rebuilt yourself, so there are advantages in the old bush bearing.
  19. I have found a whole lot of love for the ka in the US, they hold them in quite high esteem. The main bummer is that being a 2.4 it is not a legal conversion in QLD (with a turbo) for any ke3X or earlier model car. I have seen inside one while my old man was building it, they are almost identical to an sr with their setup internally.
  20. Hey man, great to see a project thread, will be an absolute weapon. Andra cage or cams? Keep the pics coming :P
  21. Nice work mate, good to see a ke3x corolla down there
  22. Was down there yesterday, good day. Seen a red wagz, must be curly, ran a 12. something at 118 mph?? i think Also Scott oke20 ran a 8.5 which lands him the leaf sprung record to add to the list of achievements. Was good viewing, now I'm sunburned and pretty inspired, no crazy rotors hit the wall, and the fastest pass of the day was 2j powered plastic car that ran a 6.5 at 215mph.
  23. Thanks heaps for the comments guys, I'm trying to keep the detail up there mick, not doing underneath, but trying to be real fussy with the rest. I just hope my patience continues. corty man, Yep youre right about the bellhousing it is for a 6, i might have to chuck it on ebay then i recon.
  24. ^^^ thanks mate, it is so much better having a shed, i can actually sleep at night now knowing its out of the weather. :D Progress.... i drilled the battery cut off switch into the rear of my car, and created and welded a bracket in. Also drilled a hole for a boot lock into the rear, it has already been deleted on the bootlid, but ANDRA rules says i have to put one in. So i put it in the ke25 position instead. Pulled the engine out to start on the engine bay, this one will not be going back in as i plan to have the new one built in time. Removed the manual pedal box, column, and any other junk in my way. The sr20 auto bellhousing requires a heap more clearance than the manual one, so i had to dummy it up to see what neeeds to move out of the way, i grabbed an old block and mounted it up. There will be changes made to the front of the tunnel. The C4 i will be using is a very small box, so only the nissan bellhousing has clearance issues. Started welding up some of the holes i don't need, Then started to really get into it, i am thinking about straightening the sheetmetal over the wheels on either side to make it really smooth. I got a hotrod builder i know to come over and show me some of the techniques they use, still not sure if i will bother as there is a lot of work in it. ;) Also went to see Jip and got some pretty overrated guards off him, and a front pan, pretty happy about that. The missus sprung me, this is how i spend my spare time........so sad ;)
