Home made caltracs - they worked really well Its just going to require a whole lot more setting up to cope with what i require the car to do this time. How i mounted the previous set was: remove the leaf pack The front rubbers/eye bushes need to be ground / cut back to be almost flush with the spring on either side. (a wood saw works well) This then allows space for the caltrac to fit. The caltrac triangle will need large washers on each side of it to prevent rubbing against the rubber, and the cars mount. I made the caltrac triangles out of 3mm plate steel, and used shortened panhard rods as the link to the diff. -

mmmm paint, i may be a bit optimistic, but i hope to be spraying green within 3 weeks. No worries man. Would you like the specs of my cage, or a scan of the andra rulebook rollcage section? Cheers mate. Yep caltracs will be used. Will take some setting up though as they determine whether the car squats or lifts in the rear, and also whether the wheels stay on the ground or not. 0KE20 uses a fair bit of scaffold in the boot to take the work off the leaves, i can't really copy off his as I'm trying to be road legal, but i have a few ideas for under the car that I will be trialing. Setup was always going to be the fun part as I'm pretty sure the stock wheel arches will stay as is. -
Nambour, kawana, caboolture has the biggest store/ range though. You could just use ke30 ones?, they are chrome with a black nob thingy. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TOYOTA-COROLLA-KE20...=item483a4cb634 Wheels look great too i recon

anyways spent 14 hours on the engine bay of the rola over the labour weekend, not much to look at but lets just say its pretty straight and all in etch. doesnt look like much, but if i had a shot of a factory engine bay the differences are there, and many. Also been getting hold of a fair bit of NOS stuff for the rola, mostly the chromed plastic bits on the grill, taillights and chrome surrounds, grill emblem, ect. Still a fair bit of expense even though its an old corolla. Also tracked down a good, rechromed rear bar for the rear, pretty damn hard to find item as well. It turns out it aint as good as i had hoped once its on the car, the gap to the body is uneven, so it has had a nudge at some point. Only i would notice though. -

Surge Tank For Ke30
oh what a nissan feeling! replied to Killar_of_giants's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
If you use the drain on your tank to feed the under car surge tank, and have a sufficient breather from the surge tank back to the top of the fuel tank, in theory a lift pump is not needed. About a year ago i made a tank up and all that to test the theory in my ke25, but i never finished the setup due to the car being shelved for a few years as a non priority. -
Imagine your 4 speed from your 4kc engine, but smaller, that is a C4. I can take pictures side by side if you like. The aforementioned jatco is a big bitch, but has a 4th gear, so great for the street. In a light turbo car a 3 spd auto is not considered 'ideal', but is a great compromise for the street.

very cool car, well done, can't wait to see it all in the orange.

What Engine To Put In My Ke70? N/a And Carbed
oh what a nissan feeling! replied to lanceishere's topic in Engine Conversions
awesome sounding motor, good power for their era, reliability issues, heavy. why the hell you would chuck one in a ke70 i could never understand. -
Gone! Ah well, good learning experience, seemed like a bit of a rusty shell anyways. I look forward to the new project!

V6 Commodore Motor Into Ke70
oh what a nissan feeling! replied to Mitch-12's topic in Engine Conversions
oh it would turn, just not with the front wheels! Do it, would be a crazy fun car, and agreed probably no quicker than the stock ke70 through the coarse, but twice as fun! If you use the vn stuff it has no bcm so one less wiring problem too. I say use the manual if you have it, for rally driving an auto is never the same. -
cool! looks like a whole lot of fun, sounds pretty cool on the second vid.

these are off a mid 80s lancer. cable operated The bit you attatch the glass to motor So you mount the peice of bar vertically in the car, mount the motor, wire up.

Ohh What This Is For Sale!!!!!!!!!
oh what a nissan feeling! replied to shauns ke30's topic in Automotive Discussion
well there goes another genuine corrolla enthusiast, everyone wave. Isnt that great, someone with the skills to actually build a car that everyone could have learned off and he gets a nice friendly welcome. That car is flawless, and is no different to any other drag orientated car built to the highest standard. A corolla with a spread in street machine is a massive achievement. -

In Need Of Unbias Opinion
oh what a nissan feeling! replied to ahouse's topic in Automotive Discussion
Ta22 all the way. Ta22 a classic shape, could be mistaken for nothing else of the era. The doors shut solid, the panels are thicker, basically a less cheap car to ride in. A very sporty seating position and surrounding from factory. Also 2 door, which can be taken both ways. Ke70, a mid 80s square beast, not really a classic, but a big following due to the sprinters i think. looks are typical of the era, square, pretty tinny build quality, not a sporty feel from factory but we all know this can be fixed to a degree. To clarify, i am biased, i don't think you will find a non biased opinion, Cheers~matt -

Forget the sikaflex, those balancers are damn pricey. So funny that it made it all that way with it glued on! Would love to experience the difference with the stall converters, I'm new to fast autos, sounds pretty crazy. -

Yep, I have 300mm brakes on mine, they fit inside any 15. Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile 185/60-13 4.4in 10.9in 21.7in 68.3in 928 195/50-15 3.8in 11.3in 22.7in 71.2in 889 205/50-16 4.0in 12.0in 24.1in 75.6in 838 205/40-17 3.2in 11.7in 23.5in 73.7in 860 I just went out to the shed, the 17s are the size tyre i run on all of my 17s, so the 17s would actually have the car sitting lower than the aforementioned 16s, as the 17s have a smaller rolling diameter.
