The actual weight is not completely relevent, the weights of vehicles are listed in the qld modifications book, not sure of the exact name.... this is what most engineers use, as almost every vehicle is listed in that book with a set weight beside it. see an engineer, and if hes too busy, just ask for his book to have a read of, then you have a definate answer at least...

sorry, my maths is bad.... 1080kgs then, that is with a turbo, without a turbo it is weight x 3. If the car is over 1100 kg it is sweet by lots, as the rules of obove 1100 kgs are different.

If an ae71 weighs over approx 1070kg it will be fine. weight of vehicle x 2.5.

This has been in for rwc last thursday, i probably should have looked over it a bit more, needs a whole lot done, 29 items to be exact.... I knew about a few of the item but ran out of time to fix them, i descovered a whole lot more on the way to the rwc as well! I have spent the week before the rwc fixing up some very very bodgy, half arsed wiring attempts on the crown, but it appears i only fixed half of it, things have been messed with everywhere, none of the usual factory items work as they should!!! the biggest thing being the rust in the tailgate, i never fixed the tailgate as i decided it was not worth fixing, although it looked ok from the outside i could tell it had a full tin of bodgy bog repairs in it. In the last few months it already started to break out rust in the corners - the reason i got picked for it. I Still doubt i will find a good replacement, so have begun the repairs on mine. I'm not disappointed by the long list, as i got a proper rwc condition for this reason, i want the car to be safe and reliable, plus because of the quality of all the previous work i really need to know what i have missed! Anyways about 3 weeks i recon, and it be cruising the streets. -
Sr20 Conversion To Ke55 Plus Rebuild Plus Pimpage

Why are you stuck with the ones on the list? What i was trying to say is that there are a heap of guys around that arent on that list that are legally able to approve the car. On the QLD site they have the same list, but they are not the only ones that can do it, they are just the ones they 'prefer' that you use. You may have already done so, but look around outside of that website, see if this is also the case in vic? -

Hey mate sounds depressing, a bit of a hurdle. The above comment could be your problem? Are you using the vic government website to get hold of your engineers? In queensland there is the same list on the website, but there are soooo many engineers around, and the ones listed on the website are the ones who are impossible to deal with (stereotypically). I found out now that i have so many engineers locally, from the extremely difficult, to the way too relaxed, i choose to use a guy that is in between both of these, because i want my car safe, but don't want to have to deal with stupidities. I hope I'm right for your sakes, and i know I'm not from vic, but i had the same problem to start with, until i found this out.... -

Seriously, What Were They Thinking?
oh what a nissan feeling! replied to SoulSearcher's topic in Automotive Discussion
funny, my brother did exactly the same thing to his forester, I always back the underdog, but the car was still a car, useless offroad to the point where i think any small front wheel drive would go further. When it was stuck (always) with a wheel up you couldnt open the rear door because of body flex. It was good for the beach though once it was lifted above a sand plough, if you kept it on the flats it went anywhere. -
Ke30 Bonnet On A Ke55?he
oh what a nissan feeling! replied to Rke055's topic in Automotive Discussion
gaurds are the same, so yes, no problems. -
for a test and tune they likely wont look, but if the car drips anything at all on the track you will not get to run that pass. grab a coke bottles and some cable ties for the radiator, breather goes into chassis rail from memory, so unlikely to be a problem.

Would be a hard beast to let go of, everything has been thought of, and improved. 4 door r32? i had a ball in mine, fun package.
-
forward, no. , i would not make that compromise. About 10-15mm clearance from the firewall. A few taps with the hammer, not bashing. here is a link of me fitting the auto, there are before shots there to look at from in the car, and in the bay. ignore the exhaust tunnel as that was done after i fitted the sr20. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?s...6608&st=120
-
I ran an sr20 in a ke30 without bellhousing tunnel mods. A few taps with a hammer no doubt (engineers require 10mm clearance everywhere), but no cut and weld whatsoever of the bellhousing area of the tunnel.
-
wrong, try again. My bellhousing area of the tunnel was entirely unmodified until i decided to go auto, then you are dealing with a big mother bellhousing.
-
ease, or expense? explain.
-
+ diff, brakes, tailshaft, ect. I did mine for 9 grand total, before i stripped it for this build, that includes wheels, ect, the whole lot. It really depends how much you can do yourself, being a fitter and turner i would assume your skill would be there.

stock sr20 plus gt28rs with .63 rear will get you 300rwhp on 18 psi, lag is non existent, Good for an 11.5 on the quarter by the moroso calculator, though i never got to the drags with mine. plant it in 3rd with new 205s on the back and the rear wheels will start spinning hard once it hits about 4,000 rpm or about 80-90 kph.(with caltacs + lsd) Sound like fun yet????

What Engine To Put In My Ke70? N/a And Carbed
oh what a nissan feeling! replied to lanceishere's topic in Engine Conversions
why carb? Cos its cheaper? Or cos its cool old school? A set of webbers and tuning will rarely come in cheaper than injection. Cos its old school cool i can definately understand though. -
well, I'm pretty sure we have met also, welcome back!
-
Roughly i think you would get your $500 back. if you wanted to restore a car to make money, sir you picked the wrong one. A ke3x/5x is considered the least desirable corolla of all, and even the most desirable shapes are worth nothing. Go buy an LJ 2 door shell, a nasty monaro shell for 20k, or even a hk sedan i think will be worth something soon enough.

man you pick up some insane wheels, gotta love it!
