  1. That list is pretty good, won't take too long to sort, shock seized is a bit of an annoyance though! For engine building, PLR on the north side has a solid rep, i did a whole lot of searching before deciding to get them to machine and balance all my junk.
  2. well this was the first conversion i did to my ke30, a 3t engine. It had a small cam, extractors, twin carbs, ect. When i finally got it going after a few months of effort, disappointed hardly begins to describe how i felt. Yes do a twin cam, or turbo if you like, but don't bother otherwise.
  3. Also have a look at the factory power of your existing engine (4k), and the celica engine (2t). From memory you would gain about 2hp at the flywheel.
  4. but come on mate, would look fully sic with some 145s on 'em, maximum respekt. yep, fair call, tyres are more expensive and harder to get hold of.
  5. go 8's on the rear? In a about a +15 will give the same gaurd fill with a bit more thickness under the car.
  6. yep +5 reed. yes BS is 110 as well.
  7. No, in my experience they are the same. And yes is is possible to fit an sr20 gearbox without tunnel clearance issues. this is how: 1. There is a brace across the floor inside the car, your gearbox shifter will be in line with this, A: you could chop it out and pretend that it doesnt need to be re-strengthened or re-welded in. B: you could more your motor forward about and inch or two to make it miss the brace. 2. The tunnel is too small to accommodate the large square shifter mount on the gearbox. A: you could hang your gearbox down lower in the car until it clears, this will cause the motor to sit on a slope also. B: you could keep moving the engine forward until the shifter is in a wider section of tunnel? C: you could just chop more and more metal out until it no longer has clearance issues. I guess it all comes down to what you call a 'fit', and weather you would prefer a factory type fit, or a dump it in and drive type fit.
  8. sr20 gearbox is too long for the ke30 tunnel. It clears in all other areas, but the ke30 gearbox tunnel runs out, and the sr20 gearbox end up in the tailshaft section. There are two shorter gearboxes you can use, an rb20 one, or a bluebird series 3 one. both need bellhousings changed, bluebird one is weaker. Use an sr20 gearbox bellhousing on an rb20 gearbox and this will move the shifter position forward and shorten the gearbox. I can't tell you if this makes it clear completely, as i have used an sr20 box and made the ke30 floor to suit.
  9. what he said. next question?
  10. sr20 can be engineered in qld, 1j cannot. Even if the 1j did fit, recessed firewalls cannot be engineered. solve your problem?
  11. probably my favorite jap style wheel right there, will fit really well in these offsets. 15x6.5 +7 and 15x7 +2 Will be under the car, both will be just inside the guards with room for tyres that fit.
  12. man that is very light, gotta be happy with that. A bit of surge on the turbo? 134mph is solid, good for a high 9, plus it proves whatever dyno you are using is not full of crap. :y:
  13. Anyways. I have 17x8 on the rear of mine in a +25 offset, fits easily with room to spare. 205/40/17 is very close to the same rolling diameter to a 195/50/15 which is what the bulk of the people on this site run. 245/35/17 is also very close. I have been through a roadside inspection with 205/40/17 and after they spent 40 minutes in a book, was told they are legal on my ke30. Max width for the stock front is a 7 inch rim, unless you either pump the guards, or don't have the entire rim under the vehicle. low profile is in my experience a rougher ride, but has a lot less effect than people seem to think. low profile also in my experience provides less straight line traction.
  14. very nice collection mate, the interior of the 55 looks like its never been sat in, so overrated.
  15. excellent. start a members rides thread perhaps :y:
  16. yeh it has been done, as you can see there is about 1-2 inches to be had before the rail. Leaf springs also need to be moved. Would fit a 10 inch rim under quite well i would think, as 8S fit under pretty well untubbed.
  17. ^^^^what he meant to say is bigger is NOT always better. definately worth the hours and hours if done right.
  18. ever done a paint job before? I think that most people would rather see really crap original paint, than a really poor attempt at a respray. This will also reflect in the value of the car, i think that at least half the repaints i see on here would drop the value of the car rather than increase it. Another thing to consider is how much time you have to spare? To drop a 5k in will take a day. To do a respray will take much longer.
  19. cool! lost your camera? Ive been at the same stage with the pajero, so many things to tidy up and nothing much to show for it. nice work, sounds like its getting close. :y:
  20. excellent, good as new again :y:
  21. yeh, agreed, 9s could fit well i think with guards rolled. I got my tyres on the 8's, there is definately room for another inch, i wouldnt do 10s though, that would be pushing it!
  22. nice. looks so good.
  23. man, i only just seen this thread, this is cool!
  24. man, ouch. very bitter sweet. Will be some eye-opening pics tomorrow.
