  1. Due to the floods + some other stuff that's come up I may have to postpone this till a later date. Sorry guys!
  2. No skids! Spirited driving (within reason) is welcomed, just don't break the law or act like a moron! First post edited guys :)
  3. I've just gotten in contact with a local Brisbane charity called CARS who look after the victims and families of road accidents, my thoughts are somewhat along the lines of if we can help them (they are running off VERY little funds), then it may help go part of the way towards improving the negative attitude the media is portraying towards car enthusiasts. Thoughts?
  4. Hey guys, as some of you know last year-ish I organised a Toyota-only charity cruise up the coast. Everybody I know who came had an awesome time and loved it. and now I am thinking it is time for round two! Plan will be roughly the same as last time - leaving from a large carpark close to the city, driving up the coast and stopping off at Humble Pie (just off the Bruce Highway) for lunch and then up to Montville Falls for some photo's, walking down to the falls themselves, etc. As last time all I ask for is a $10 donation per person to go towards a charity which is yet to be decided. At this stage I am looking to see what sort of interest there is, last time we had around 25 cars which were fairly manageable numbers. If you drive anything Toyota/Lexus I welcome you to come (don't care if it's a daily or some balls-out Supra), if you don't then I'm going to ask you not to come. Please don't have a cry about this (as some people did last time). At this stage I am looking towards the end of February for the date, the 27th is looking promising so far. Pics from the last cruise: EDIT: If you plan on coming, can you please PM me your name, car you are planning on bringing, any passengers, rego number and mobile number. This is so any dumbarses on the day can and WILL be reported to the police on day, and also to send a copy to CARS (as they have said they would love to put their name behind this event
  5. Check the photo's Jon, I'd say there's a little more than no cars :no2: It's good being set up as it is, all the idiots will stay at Munchies.
  6. Hey guys, I'm sure most of you have either been to or have heard of Munchies and Harry's as being the spots to hang out if you have a 'classic' car on a Friday night. After witnessing the bullshit behaviour/mentality displayed by a large range of people at Munchies (particularly Commodore drivers), a few mates of mine decided to head to Harry's Diner on the northside. Now this used to be THE place to hang out, but sadly has declined over the years. I got into talks with the owner/manager of Harry's and we started discussing new ways of getting a crowd in. What we've come up with is pretty basic and I think a good idea - people who are cruising there and have heard about it from me get some specials/bonuses when you buy meals. To see what sort of support a system like this would get, I am asking everybody with a pre-'85 car to make this Friday night (12th of March) free and rock up to Harry's at around 7.30. Now, if you have a post-'85 car you are still more than welcome to come, however I ask that you park around the back (there is shitloads of room) so we don't end up with a Fiesta or something similar parked right in the middle of a heap of classic cars. Any bullshit behaviour won't be tolerated, we have the full support of the police (they are likely to drive around through the night) and as long as you're not doing something silly, I daresay they won't even bat an eyelid at you. There is a cop who regularly attends the import night meets there and is yet to defect or warn a single person, he spends most of his time walking around and talking to people about their cars. If you do something stupid (ie. ANYTHING that could give the place a bad name), the police will be called and your details will be taken down. Obviously, something like a spirited take-off when you leave is fine provided you don't break too much traction or cause any problems to other drivers. The Facebook group can be found by clicking the following link, if I don't know your name I am fairly sure you have the option of including a note with your application - just say who you are, what forum you're from and what care you're bringing and I'll approve you. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=logo#...id=349896658423 Hope to see you all Friday night!
  7. It's a while to go yet, funds permitting. A guy in the states is currently has 170rwkw on a stock engine with 17psi of boost, should be very interesting to see what a built engine + E85 + more boost will lead to :lolcry: Just so you guys know I'm not talking shit, here's an exhaust system I made up for the stock engine - once it's back on the road I'm just going to take it to every track day and race her till she dies. Tuned length headers, mandrel system, custom made muffler, etc - the perks of being a fabricator.
  8. I have a 250rwkw+ twin-screw supercharged AW11 in the makes ;) I can get stainless brake lines made for cheaper than I can get rubber ones done due to knowing the right people :lolcry: I was looking to upgrade the brakes as I am not happy with how they currently perform (even though they have new pads) and wanted something better. TA22 brakes are slightly bigger and still should weigh around the same, and should be fairly cheap. Suspension is currently hard as shite due to cut 'coon springs and 3" lowering blocks in the rear. I wanted the T series diff conversion in preparation for the 5K + also the fact you get bigger drums. I am not looking for all out power, just something that handles/brakes well and has a bit of go to it.
  9. I guess I should have elaborated 'daily' - not just some piece of crap she can flog around while she has another car, she wants it for a nice cruiser (I guess you would call it).
  10. Hey guys, as some of you know I recently bought my girlfriend a 4-speed '81 KE55. Mechanically it's in good condition but body needs a bit of love. Over the next year or so I wish to slowly upgrade bits that need doing without going overkill - no EFI conversions, no major changes, just little bits to make it just that much better to drive. It's only every going to be a daily so there's no need for super everything. I'm also aiming to do all the work myself for as cheap as possible, sure I could pay somebody to do stuff but there's absolutely no fun in that. Once the body has been tidied up (bit of rust to remove + a respray), I was aiming for the following. Front Brakes *TA22 struts *2.5" lowered springs *TA22 steering arms *New pads + discs *Stainless brake lines *Whiteline 20mm swaybar Driveline *K50 conversion (for now). *Lightened flywheel *Slightly upgraded clutch Diff/rear brakes/suspension *T series conversion *Inverted leaf eyes *Leaves reset to match front height. *Whiteline 16mm swaybar *Stainless lines Miscellaneous *15" Superlites (or similar) *Rebuilt bigger MC (Camry?) *Complete Superpro bushing kit. *Eventually going for a warmed 5K conversion, won't be till down the track though. What are your thoughts? There's a bit of stuff I'm not too sure about (mainly front brakes), everything else I think I should be able to tackle myself.
  11. Who's this cheeky little monkey?
  12. A member of Boostcruising is organising a photoshoot for the bushfire appeal, it would be great if he could get another ten or so cars. All the information can be found here. Thanks guys.
  13. Jon got pics/video's, I got a few (mainly of Jon in a tree, but anyway), once they all get sent to me I'll upload them somewhere and post a link. Anyway guys, nice cruise  Bit disappointed at the final turnout (I think we had around 17 cars at one point), but hey - it's almost 2/3 of who I was expecting so that's alright in my books. Nobody was acting like a dickhead, no car troubles and all up I think most people had a good time.
  14. I know Jip is coming (group leader). Anyway guys, you were meant to have PM'd me before the 20th - as I posted repeatedly in the thread. If you haven't, I'm sorry but it's sort of your fault for not checking back. I'm not being an ass, I just didn't really have the time to go chasing people. I will be organising another one in around 6 months however.
  15. I AM NO LONGER TAKING ON CARS FOR THE CRUISE. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE CONTACTED ME, YOU SHOULD HAVE AN EMAIL WITH DETAILS IN IT If you have put your name down and haven't received an email, let me know ASAP. If you can't come, let me know in a PM as I may not check this thread before the weekend.
