  1. Did some more today...cleaned up the front bumper and put the freshly painted brackets back on. Made a bracket for the new hood release cable, generic one was half the price of ones on ebay. Theres some pics of the bonnet which had a bit of ripple in it which i noticed when i was rubbing back. Nothing to exiting but heres pics anyway polished patch compared to filthy untouched chrome All spick and span The back side...no rust on the front bumper :-)...the back one have rust on the inside so ill just spray that. some lumps and bumps on the bonnet filled up new hood release cable mount
  2. I used stuff by these guys. I used the "underbody spray on" little bit down the page on this site http://www.khst.com.au/index_autotrade.html. Here's so,me dodgy pics i took with my phone, ill get some better ones next time theres progress. There cars looking a little filthy, dad just build a new kitchen fo rin the house next to my car so there was alot of dust flying around...the tarp over the tops helped but didnt keep anywhere near all of the dust off. Anyway here goes... The gearstick relocation, was and auto and manual now so had to do something. I went the option of riveting a plate down cause I'm not to sure if ill change the engine in the future and may need to relocate again, so didn't want to weld anything in bit of high density foam under it to seal it down. Pretty bit Stainless for $7.50 lol Pretty much the complete engine bay, just missing the wiper motor and horns, wiper bottle and radiator over flow bottle thinks that about. Off with the old on with a new Wired up the electric dizzy with plugs and a bit of heat shrink to keep it tidy First section of the exhaust, painted in potbelly black 300 deg C heat proof...if it peals it peals, doesn't really bother me. looks good for now lol And finally all pedals in and steering column. Simon.
  3. Thanks for the kind words mate. Yeah I'm a strong believe in 'do it once do it properly'. Nah no primer or anything, took all the crap under there off with a wire brush on and angle grinder. There was some old fish oil in places, anyway, all off and then just blasted the stuff under, doesnt need a primer. It comes in a 4 liter drum and you spray it on with a special gun. A good friend (mechanic) i know had a gun that does fish oil and tar spraying so i just borrowed that.... i will again to do the fish oil once all the paintwork is done. can't remember the cost, think it was bout 150 for the drum, as for the gun not sure what sorta prices good ones are (here's one on ebay, he has a good one, no idea how these cheaper ones would go http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BRAND-NEW-Body-Dead...item335e58b10d). Hope this helps, ill find the name of the product i used when I'm back at the shed tomoro and post it up here. Simon
  4. Got the day off again today to work on the car. IT RUNS IT RUNS... got my electric dizzy all sorted out and it runs The 3k in it hasn't been started for around 2 years now, just put some fresh oil in it, water in the radiator, and a new oil filter, pulled th ecarby apart and gave it a good clean and thats about it. So today i got the dizzy all hooked up right and poured some petty in the carby and after about 5 mins of mucking about away she went :-D....gotta love the K motors Engine bay is pretty much complete now all cables and such. lights in and a few other bits. Sorry no pics, i lost my camera...no idea where it is, i thought it was in the shed. Mum left her camera at work and dads is broken....so no pics till Monday when i get mums...sorry folks Tomoro its back to body work, bit more primer to cover a few fixed dints i found and some more and lots more rubbing to do
  5. Yesh thats what i ment...picture didnt work
  6. Theres the new commy green i would one day like to have a corolla that colour....its similar to that candy paint green.
  7. Thats it...had a good day rubbadub rubbing, gonna try get this friday off again to do more. found a couple more divits that needed filling so bit for prier to put on and more sanding. Nothing worth showing really but theres a quick update
  8. WOO..day off on friday to do some work on it :-)...(cheers dad i.e. my employer)
  9. Your not bothering..i was planning to post again soon. I haven't done anything. I'm back home for the uni holidays and its gonna get done, ill be taking a week off work soon to get the paint on and start putting it back together. My KE55 is getting very tired so i need to get the 2 door on the road....soooo, over the next few weeks you'll see some new pic and progress :-). Also dad turned my work area into his work area so i have to clean his massive mess up first lol
  10. Theres a place in taree called ABS...its a brakes and steering center, i found they were cheaper on all bearings steering and bushing parts i need when compared to auto-barn who had nolethane stuff. ABS had Super Pro bushes. So you might wanna check the yellow pages for a place like that near you. could be cheaper, and they usually have guys who know what there talking about, not some 15yr kid with no idea.
  11. Well i think mine work with standard springs and tops cause the camber tops put the spring hat lower in the strut tower where its wider. doesn't really count for standard tops.
  12. These are my camber tops. they didnt hit in the ke38 wagon they came out of, they hit in my ke30 but ive got em pretty close to the corner. The a noltec adjustable top. Theres the springs, pretty sure there standard size. There ke55 struts with stiffer slightly lower springs in em. And here they are in the car, sorry bou the tap over em, but you get you can see how far they get across.
  13. Hey guys, I'm in North Lambton, drive a ke55. spotted a few ke's around. Would be keen for a meet up for sure. Its a 3 speed auto so long distance is real fun but i have pushed it through a few trips to Tamworth and back....its only over heated once lol. Theres a shitload of ke's out there, was one for 500 bucks, 2 months out of rego but pretty tidy for the money, would have been mine if i had money. I hope to be in my 2 door after the uni holidays and this thing will be sold. heres the rig, the left guard has damage and is partly black so you'll know its me if you spot it. don't think the attachment worked but my rides thread has stuff in it
  14. Okay so its been a while, thought ide put up some pics of rubbing back....this is a hit with 400 or the orbital (as advised by the pros) and next ill be in there with 600 going over the whole lot to get it super smooth. Uni holidays start in about 5 weeks so I'm hoping to get it on the road then and sell the 55 as i can't afford 2 regos. pics
  15. My bad...was thinking along the fuel injected line of engines
  16. 4age all the way, wont get much easier than that. unless you want to build up a tough k motor and boost it. Heaps of people have done it so theres plenty of info around.
  17. Sure thing, my new carpet arrived the other day, thats about it lol
  18. Started rubbing it back but nothing much...ive been stuck at uni past few weeks
  19. nice car especially for the dosh..... I believe some sort of commy shocks fit in the back, not sure bout the front (in sure someone will know). My ke30 took VN WAGON rear shocks I believe (might be the model after VN, not sure what it was, but just take your old ones in and compare lengths). Makes sure there wagon, sedan is way to long.
  20. Yeh get some up! youtube has a bit to show http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=imtyQv...feature=related
  21. Look pretty nice mate, welcome along here (not sure its my place to welcome you but anyhow...). Nothing like a good cleanup....that dash is an awsome find i need one just like it, i don't like to look of the split dashes much. Any plans for it?
  22. spotted a few cars around today. ae86...bloke who owns bar on the hill at Newcastle uni drives this saw a overrated little mazda 1300 up the street, no toyota but still.... and had my 55 parked in an odd spot....got tucking lol Passed a clean ke20 and saw a overrated looking k3x wagon driving up the road...was pretty happy to see all these goodies lol
  23. Nice pickup mate. A friend is a p plates and his done some research into the engine thing. you can increase you engine capacity by up to 15% as long as you don't require an engineering certificate for things like engine mounts etc. So ide guess it came out with a 3k ~1200cc but you could put a 4k in ~1300cc and still be allowed to drive it. Thats in NSW btw....don't know where your from. "Any vehicle with engine performance modifications requiring an engineer’s certification for registration purposes is banned under the prohibited vehicle scheme." http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/licensing/gettin...r/p1p2faqs.html you can do any "minor" mods on your car and still drive it with p's http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/dow...ns_nov_2007.pdf This might all be irrelevant in your state though
  24. Cheers pmp020. Didnt get a whole lot done today, sprayed the metal part of the dash satin black...gonna be covered with a fresh dash carpet when the cars together. also played around with the wiring a bit more....just figuring out how the elctric dizzy hooks up. Theres plenty of old threads and faq's to help me with that. I'm off to newy again for a couple of weeks so wont see anything happen till i get back, but its been a good couple of days work so its a fair chunk closer to being done. Might organise for it to get picked up and painted while I'm away, gotta see how much i get rubbed back this arvo.....back to it now...
  25. mmm iveread/heard this around the place....unfortunately i haven't got the funds.....if i get the new youth allowance startup thing i might be in with a chance of getting one :-)
