  1. Council found the car told me to move it before they tow it. Asked them if they had told the police and got no reply... Just bought a new car so i can take some time to fix her up rather than use it everyday. Will miss adjusting the choke in traffic and riding the accelerator under braking when it's cold, I think the G6E optioned that out. Thanks again
  2. Hi just an update. Got the car back tonight, was found not far from my house in an alleyway... with a parking ticket on it. Well done Darebin City Council, yes i leave my car unlocked with a jimmied ignition in alleyways all the time (sarcasm). All in tact, missing the cd player from my glove box and tacho from bellow my dash. Only damage to the ignition wires and barrel and the boot lock. Still had all my wheels on it and my tools where in the car also. Pretty happy with the result considering i had kissed it goodbye. Will be taking it off the road and bringing it back on club reg in the future when i can restore it to the condition these corollas deserve. Like to thank everyone for there support and concern in the relation to the car, and i will be hanging around to keep an eye on things. Will post up some pics when i get around to completing it. Thanks Again Matt
  3. Don't like my chances. Had it parked out the back of the house out of view. They knew what they were looking for, had a replacement guard stolen from behind it 6 months ago. I think it may be reborn as a track car or something similar.
  4. I walk out this morning to go to work and find a balaclava where i parked my car last night. Details: Model: KE11 Plates: KE-1970 Colour: Grey primer on body, roof and bonnet in the factory mid grey. Wheels: Has hayashi streets on the front, two stock wheels in red lip and black center on the back. Interior: Black with red front throw over seat covers. Features: Drivers side guard and door have a large hit running down them to the rear quarter. This isn't exactly a blend in car, it is easy to identify that's why i think it will be in pieces pretty quickly so if everyone could keep an eye out or if they see any of the items up for sale please let me (0four30 3two2 7three3) or the police directly know. Police have been notified.
  5. *Throws up in mouth* Got to love the 70's. I'd rather cover my couch in clear plastic.
  6. I can help with the radio. My Ke11 never had a radio. I found a const 12v plug behind where it would have gone into the factory radio or cigarette lighter, white male two pin if i remember correctly; and just took switch 12v and luminate from the plug at the back of the speedo panel. You can do all this with a test light, not to tricky due to the simplicity of their design.
  7. Yeah thats what has got me worried. Hope they don't come back for my car. Going to move my door so it doesn't go missing and start taking some ignition parts out. Going to give my neighbours the once over but other than that I'll just have to hope that is all they were after. Edit by mod - dude think about what you type! If your thief was from rc that was an invitation!
  8. I was thinking that but no one on RC knows where i live and i don't know anyone personally that owns one, but my car is pretty well recognised around the area.
  9. Last night, Friday night/Saturday morning about 2am someone went into the carpark located at the back of my appartment and stole my replacement driverside gaurd. About 6 months ago i was hit by a guy in a 4wd, his fault, and the insurance payed me out as they wanted to write my car off. I managed to find a bulk purchase and secured a guard to repair the damage, i also picked up a door and guard from a guy on here but had to get rid of the guard as it was too stuffed. Anyway i had the door and guard sitting behind my car in the communal carpark , not visible from the road and last night the guard went missing. Nothing else gone. Location: I live in Melbourne, Thornbury not far from Normanby Ave and High St. Description: Bright red acrylic paint, ke10 driverside guard, has slight riple on the wheel arch, has not been cut out for ke11 indicators so still has the small hole. What you can do: Keep an eye out for me, I'll be doing my best to keep an eye on ebay and other places but any RC awareness will be fantastic. I'm thinking it was more than likely a drunk walking home and jumping fences. There is an alley behind my house, and I've done a drive around thinking they may have dumped it but come up with zilch. The money doesn't worry me it is the ability to find good panels for old cars, that panel took months to find and puts back my respray that I was hoping to get done this month. I would like to say thanks in advance and hope this turns up. Cheers Matt
  10. This is my understanding. First number, with the "W" is the winter viscosity. The lower the number the lower the temperature can be before the viscosity is comprimised, i.e. not in the operating range. These are measured at different temperatures depending on the SAE grade of oil. The second number (SAE) is the operating viscosity, measured at a standard of 100 deg C. The higher the number the thicker the oil at 100 degrees. Hope that clears things up. And I run 20W-60 in my k series, give it a warm up before taking off in the morning. Matt
  11. first time i've seen another grey ke1X besides mine. mines rockin black trim tho.
  12. 3.7 is rare. not sure what they come in but i managed to pick one up last year in a bulk purchase. think 4.11 is man and 3.9 is auto. correct me if wrong. suggest sticking with auto ratio and if you really hate it then change it. matt
  13. just go down to supercheap and buy the dual outlet stainless exhaust tip and use that to make the join. costs about $50 bucks and think it sleaves over the top of the 3" pipe. thats if you got stainless. mate did it on his skyline and it saves you having to cut things, just weld her up and listen to the db.
  14. simple just drive it until it is dead then go buy another engine. hate to be frank but from what i have heard a rebuild may be out of your range, both price and ability.
  15. you will need to add a resistor in series with the LEDs to bring the resistance up to the same as the globe you replaced. remember: V=IR (ohm's law) P=VI (can't remember who's law :hmm: ) indicator is 21W at 12V P=VI 21=12I I=1.75 Amps resistance must be V=IR 12=1.75R R=6.857 Ohms so the resistance of the LEDs and resistor combined, because you will run them in series, must equal close to this if anyone sees a mistake feel free to correct me, and i know it could have been done in one step but it helps to step it out :P hope this helps Matt
  16. apparently this is a good reference. stolen from old post Paint code reference check the code on the car and see if it matches any of the colours, may have had a respray in the past, or not listed above. nothing there looks close to your colour, but i have a gaurd that looks similar. hope this helps matt
  17. found this the other day. most helpful. The answer
  18. acl do good stuff. http://www.acl.com.au/web/aclwebsite.nsf/8df7d3f7b605537a4a2569660082eda8/b5f1bac53d38e394ca256afc007c9674/$FILE/FitBuild.pdf you can also use their online catalogue. which offers a few more kits, depending if you want pistons etc. make sure you take all your measurements first to ensure you get the right size gear.
  19. my 1970 ke11 is a double. could have removed one it in attempt to lower the car??? the Buckle cars had 1.5" lowering blocks in front and back from memory.
  20. 2nd the hammer. also helps to swear. thats how i did it.
  21. i machined some up myself out of urathane and reused the original metal tubes/ sleeves. pain in the arse but none exist to my knowledge. matt
  22. bit of an update i settled with the insurance company. got 1800 and i get it fixed myself, car not written off  thinking i'll be getting some shannons insurance with the change. also another note; if the car is written off, both repairable or economical, the owner only needs a rwc if the car is over 15 years old to get it back on the road. no viv or list of repairs completed on the car. just thought i would share that, saves you having to be on hold for 55min with vicroads to find it out for yourself. cheers matt
  23. cheers for the help. managed to get a door and guard, pending payment and inspection. going to see if the insurer will pay for them to be preped and put on the car otherwise i will just take them for what i can get, then do it myself...
