  1. Hey guys, i'm just trying to find the thread that included images of a painting of a KE30-55. It appeared on Rollaclub earlier this year, and the bloke said that his girlfriend painted it... I just wanted to show my mates what the painting looked like. Cheers - Josh.
  2. I'm alright with DIY stuff, but i've never worked on FWD cars before, is it that much different? What sort of parts do i need? The whole transmission or just inside bits? I'm going to Pick-a-part on Saturday, i'll have a play around with some of the FWD Corollas there and see how i go. Thanks for ur help - Josh.
  3. Hey guys, my old man's 4AFC-powered AE92 Corolla Seca has shit itself :) , and now it'll only kick into gear (auto) when you stomp the accelerator. He's taken it to the mechanics and they said something about the clutch plate slipping, and to get a reconditioned gearbox and have it fitted would cost between $1600 and $2000... Does this price sound right? Is anyone selling a reconditioned gearbox for the 4AFC? Does anyone know a good place in Victoria that would specify in Corolla Auto Tranny's? Fix the car or scrap it and get another one? (keeping in mind that we only have about $3500, including rego/insurance) Your help is appreciated - Josh.
  4. Thanks heaps for the help everyone, i'll have a looksie at inspecting and changing the filter/oil tomorrow and see if that makes any differences throughout the week, otherwise i'll have to make up some options for the old man... ie. Trans Swap, Another Car, Etc. Cheers for all the help, i'll keep ya's posted. Regards - Josh.
  5. Your spot on about the "f" part, i just checked the numbers in the engine bay, it's a "4A-FC", and the Trans code is "A240L" I know it's got something to do with the auto/trans ...but i still need to know what the problem IS exactly and how costly it's gonna be to fix... Thanks anyway.
  6. Hey guys, my old man's having a bit of trouble with his stock '91 Corolla Seca. The engine i'm pretty sure is a 4A-C, it's a transverse twin cam carburetted engine. It's done roughly 270,000km's and it's auto. The small problems have only recently increased in severity, they are: * Won't kick into gear at 80km/h unless you let go of the accelerator * When i'm travelling at 75-80km/h and accelerate hard it "kicks back" a gear but struggles to get past 80km/h * When the engine's just been started, it wont allow use of the overdrive function (despite driving over 80km/h) * When the engine's just been started and transmission moved into Drive, it will roll about for 4-5 seconds (in any gravity-driven direction) before the gear engages and you start to idle-roll forward * Gear changes arent very smooth (around 50-60km/h) * Real lack of power Just wondering if anyone's had the same problems before or know what the problem might be/where to get information about it. I'm assuming that it has something to do with a faulty oil pump. Does anyone know what symptoms are present with a faulty oil pump? Any help would be appreciated... Cheers - Josh.
  7. thanks mates, i'll have a look around on here and for a Patrol MC in the meantime
  8. Hey guys, i've got a stock KE30 (3K-C) and i'll be changing the engine over to a 4K soon. When i've got the engine bay clear i want to take out the old rusted brake master cylinder and replace it with a different/stronger one. Is there a brake mc that's cheap/reliable/stronger and easy to fit? How would i go about it? Do i need a kit? What about the actual rotors as well? Is it easy/legal to change the brake rotors to larger ones? Can someone help me out? Keep in mind that i'm not a pro, i'm only learning as i go... Cheers - Josh.
