  1. man your guys laws suck! over here (NZ) if you can get it in it can be legal. anyway i say go for the v8... they sound cool!
  2. theres a rwd starlet (don't think you guys got them) over here in nz running a 4efte engine... its on club-k. and i have heard that you can bolt a 4efe to a fwd 4age gearbox so in theory you can bolt it to a t50 rwd box. now don't quote me on that as its just something i read about somewhere... but it could be a place to start researching?
  3. thought you guys had d1 to? your guys licensing system seems way over the top...
  4. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C.../p-72900938.htm picture 11 is a cert plate. you do what ever you want to your car then go for a cert. they check everything over so its all good then you get one of those. then you can get a warrant and cops can't touch you (unless you change something). its about $300 for it so it pays to do everything you want and get it all checked in one go otherwise it costs you. most of the time they arnt to concerned about the little stuff eg (wheel size etc)... our license system is a joke really. is so easy. when you turn 15 you can go and sit your learners which is just a 45 question multi choice test about road rules etc. can only get 3 wrong or you fail. once you get your learners your suppose to only drive with a fully lisenced driver... you stay on that for 6 months then go and sit your restricted which is a supervised driving test. you just drive round town for half an hour and if the tester is happy you pass. on your restricted you can drive by yourself but only drive between 5am-11pm unless you have a fully licensed driver with you. your not supposed to carry any passengers either unless one of them has their full. you stay on that for 18 months. then you do another supervised driving test but this time you have to point out hazzards. then you can drive whenever and with who ever you want. so you can be fully lisenced by 17 if your good. if you break any of the rules you just get fined $200-$600 depending on what it is. theres no driving hours or car restrictions. can drive an Evo 8 on your learners if you can get your hands on one.
  5. lol cool! so who actually inforces the rules bout engine conversions etc?
  6. there are rules. but basically you can have anything you want as long as it passes a cert check. they check things like mounts, x member etc. to make sure its done to an acceptable standard. can have things through bonnet as long as its not hot or can tangle someone up (belt drive on supercharger for example must have a guard).but yea, if you can make it fit you can do it. I'm starting to like this country a bit more... how many points do you get tho? we get like 25 for no seat belt. 50points if your doing more then 30k over the speed limit etc. more then 40kph over the limit is instant loss of license. this is quite interesting the differences between the to countrys. oh and we have to pass a warrant of fitness test every 6 months... don't think you have them?
  7. i don't have a state. i live in new zealand. i was just wondering as i see it pop up on forums and magizines every now and then. cheers for ya help guys. :)
  8. oh ok. even then does it still have to abide by the cc laws etc? say a rwd starlet that came with 1000cc 2k. weighs like 700kgs (i think), you wouldnt be aloud to put a 20b turbo in it even if it was up to an engineers standard? cheers guys for ya help. ive been wondering for ages!
  9. damn thats gotta suck! and whats the deal with having stuff sticking through the bonnet? is it legal? i know that over here you can get your car certd to run no bonnet...
  10. surely someone knows? :)
  11.
