Interior Light And Dash Clock Not Working
RainWarriorDregs replied to RainWarriorDregs's topic in Car Electrical
drivers side kick panel aye, thats where the old speakers are isn't it i'll check it out now cheers man -
hey guys, Dregs here my old '83 slant face ke70 is having some electrical problems. i recently got a tacho that i'm building into the dash where the old radio was (did this instead of getting tacho dash as i like the clock) and i was testing the tacho by just putting it on the radiator and connecting the signal wire to the coil, power to the positive battery terminal, earth to the negative and firing the car up. It all worked good but as soon as i got into the car i noticed that the clock doesnt work anymore! :y: then i opened the door later that night and the interior clock doesn't work!!! :y: i check all the fuses that are in the car, and i even checked the ones near the battery in the engine bay (even tho i'm pretty sure that they have nothing to do with the interior stuff) and i can't find a single blown fuse!! I have no idea whats wrong, are there inline fuses or something??? you never realise how useful that interior light is until you lose it!!! sorry bout the long post but yeah thats my problem anyone know the answer? is it something really simple and i'm missing it? cheers fellas

Hey guys. i joined this forum a while back, and i'm yet to introduce myself. My name is Alec but people know me as Dregs (don't ask) and i've been into cars for a while now. Me and my mates muck around with them heaps. I'm a bit of a drift fanatic hehe. I just upgraded from my 1987 Mitsubishi Colt XL 1.3L, which exploded a clutch, to a spanking 1983 KE70 (slanted) 1.3L (220 000 on the clock) when i moved from Canberra to Townsville. Best decision of my LIFE! Sucker cost me a grand, but had to have some little things fixed on it before it was road worthied. Currently its basically all stock. These are the things that the previous owner did to it: - Suspension was reconditioned and parts replaced. - Exhaust was replaced. - Rubbers and hoses in engine bay replaced. These are some of the things i've done to it: - New filters all round (oil, air, fuel) - Cleaned the distributor cap and regapped the little arm thingy in it (not sure what its called - mindblank!) + advanced the timing - Sound system (Pioneer head deck, custom 6inch door installs, 6x9s in the back all speaker kenwood) - Seat covers (sheep wool.. mmm comfy) - New gear shifter + steering wheel - Mounting a tacho where the original stereo was tomorrow. AND some things i wanna do to it: - new carby - new exhaust tip - maybe stiffen the suspension - fix some minor rust spots This is just a little beat around RainWarrior (haha) until i can save my monies to get a AE86 Trueno, hopefully 20v! seen a few on some import companies websites. Anyway fellas, sorry for the long post, haha. Hopefully see you round the boards. Dregs

hmm... intriguing, i was unaware of this whole certificate and sticker situation, probs would've spent the extra cash if i had've known about it, shit.
-
thanks fellas, called the coppers and the road authority people up here and they had no clue. all i got was "nah, she'll be apples" and stuff like that. no idea its weird, my mate has a 320mm wheel on his RA60 and he's been pulled up and they've never noticed it, complete with chinese boss kit strange
-
Hey guys, i'm new to this, I got a boss kit off ebay from asia and i got a steering wheel to add some customness (i don't think thats a word) to my ke70 (1983 KE70 Corolla 1.3L). i've heard about people needing a certificate to make it legal, can anyone shed some light on this, i just forked out 40 bucks for a boss kit and 80 for a wheel and i don't wanna get defected for it. The wheel is 350mm, so its only like 20mm smaller than the original so i'm not too worried about that, its the boss kit i'm concerned about. I tried google and stuff, but all i find is people trying to sell boss kits. dammit :P cheers fellas Dregs

Ke70 4k-c Carby/fuel Issue
RainWarriorDregs replied to RainWarriorDregs's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
i don't know. the mechanic said that the plate that fits over the gaskets and onto the inlet isn't the right shape so there's a small hole that was leaking fuel. they filled it with glue :no2: i'll get pics tommorow, but i dunno, maybe the problems not the fuel pump but the air/fuel mixture so a 4k can just run straight unleaded? -
Hey guys, i've got an old '83 KE70 thats my daily, done a few little mods to it, like interior (steering wheel, tacho, gear knob, stereo, dash mat, under chair neons heheheheh) and some exterior (rims, wipers etc) and some engine (pod HAHAHAHA, i know, new radiator, new filters everywhere!) nothing flash, just a little muck around, but its having some running problems. it stumbles at low rpm and really screws about accelerating, i know its a 4k but more than usual. i've run some carby cleaner just through the tank and its improved a bit, but the mechanic said it has the wrong fuel pump on it. i've sourced another from someone kind on here  and i'm just waiting for money to pay for it. but i have a feeling that its running REALLY rich and that the idle speed is too low. i think. so whilst i'm waitng for the fuel pump, i thought i'd address these problems. I think its running rich coz it smells like its not burning all the fuel, like it smells like petrol when i stop and stuff. problem: i can't find the air/fuel mixture screw, i can find the idle speed (its the big one near the throttle wire on the back of the carby right? near the cabin) and the fast idle screw thingy, its close to the throttle one of the left right? but my stupid haynes workshop manual doesn't have a decent picture of the air fuel ratio one. can anyone help me out? with pics? or any ideas what i can do to make the sucker run a bit better. i use the lead substitute stuff and run premium through it (like i've done with all my cars) and i take care of the oil (can't change the sucker at the moment coz the drain bolt it TIGHT and i don't have a breaker bar.... yet ;) ) and i've just replaced the radiator with one in better condition and filled the sucker full of glycol. also, is it righty tighty make its idle faster and lefty loosey make it idle slower? might be stupid question :no2: thanks for your help guys!!! :)
