  5. i'm doing up my 4k aswell and need a new water pump. so if i'm running a thermo fan i don't need to worry about the PCD of the bolts for the fan right? then just make sure i get one that looks the same as my old one? cos i got a thermo REAL cheap, thought i may aswell use it
  6. i'm getting 0.423" lift and staying with stock springs. is it a massive job changing springs? i'd really like something that just fits, without requiring more machining.
  7. mate you only tried 1 of 3 suggestions for cam regrind places, i suggest trying the other ones.

  9. who cares what can beat what, and whose car is faster, my car isn't an extension of my penis ;) i like to make modifications to my car, then see what said modifications affect, all in an effort to better my car. there's no point putting a cent into a 4k if you wanna actually go faster than other cars :D so anyone got any ideas about these valve springs? should i stay stockers?
  10. would that be the case in a 4k head? so the crow cam springs are double? i'm contemplating just leaving stock springs in it for the moment, is that a bad idea
  11. oh sweet, so all i need to do is get some 3mm thick washers. the engine is out and all dissassembled so it seems like the best time to do the mod. haha would you be able to acquire me some of these valve springs? ;) my heads just been redone but he hasn't put the valves in or it back together because i have to send him the valve stem seals.

  13. did you do that oil pump mod putting the washer in to shim it? how exactly do you do that and what does it do? becuase i got my oil filter out and wouldn't mind doing this to it to increase oil pressure. i've been told by tighe that i can run the 104 which has .423 of lift without changing the valve springs. i dunno whether to believe them of not tho. PLUS i wouldn't know where to get better valve springs from either? anyone know? *EDIT: i may have answered my own question about the oil pump mod, haha, help would be appreciated tho
  14. hey mate, good to hear you're sprucing up your 4k. with webers you'll find it depends on the person you talk to. personally i'm going to run 32/36 DGEV Weber, but i've been told over and over its too big, but i got it for free so you know can't complain. i've heard that 28/32 DCD is the best i think. I THINK. but really if you're putting a cam and all that stuff in basically any carby off a stock 1.5 or so litre engine should do fine, once again i'm no mechanic but from hours and hours of trawling rollaclub and other sites this is what i've come across. or you can go down the twins road and run twin webers or twin 40s but thats a fair bit of work and money and i don't know much about that. Except for the noise that dellortos (twin 40s) puts out makes me happy in the pants. um, most carbies will fit with an adaptor plate from redline, my 32/36 one cost me about 40 bucks with the cam, i've only had experience with Tighe Cams, but you can also have a geez around Crow Cams and Camtech (not sure on sites for these guys) but with tighe, i've been told from tighe and others that the Tighe 113 grind is the best suited to a 4k with limited mods (no need for modified valve springs). i'm getting the tighe 104 which is a bit more aggressive as i've done some head work on the ol girl. other than that go for gold, i can tell you tho, the build will snowball haha i went from just putting a VRS kit through my 4k to a full rebuild new bearings, new rings, some headwork, new evrything (water pump, fuel pump etc etc) haha, i got bitten by the "might as well do it while the engine is out" bug ahha. good luck
  15. hey felix i was recommended a Tighe 104 by Dean from Tighe. reckon that sounds good? this is with some headwork (port and polish, port matched), 4-1 extractors and a 32/36 (i know, too big, but its all i got :( ) EDIT: oh yeah its a 4k :D

  19. hey man, sweet headlights, i got some quesiton tho i need to get some new headlights because mine are dim as all hell. are they sealed beam? or are they just those ebay unsealed holders with H4 bulbs in them? how much did they cost you and where'd you get em from? *EDIT: edit due to horrible grammar :rolls:
  20. pretty sure you need an apron from a flat front to fit the guards
  21. how good are you at it? the first time i did it, i used 4 of those brake fluid bottles. then the next time i used 3 then 2. if you're real good probably only 1. I kept losing the seal on the bleeding nipple so air would go back in when they pumped the first time, but practice makes perfect. go 3, just incase.
  22. i've been recommended the Tighe 104 cam grind for my 4k. just your normal mods 32/36, 4-1 extractors, exhaust, port matched manifolds, complete rebuild (new fuel pump, water pump, bearings etc) i've been told its a good cam for these mods, but also that its a good cam for low to midrange power. maybe that'll help you out
  23. or when they put the rb26 into the mustang and there's that sweet montage and the only problem, ONLY problem, putting that engine in was "the injector is spittin'" HA
  24. yeah this place wasn't going to cost you an arm and a leg, and it was specialised for 4age into corolla conversions. i still can't recall what thread it was tho.
