how about an 8" hiace diff? i have a 78 hi-ace truck with a g162 diff, i think its about 5.7 ratio :bash: any better ratios available for a g series diff? how about lsd (the truck could use lsd too!) i reckon youd have to shorten it but i don't think youd be able to blow it with anything short of a 440 big block v8 itd probably affect the power to weight ratio too much though cheers, rob

cool, I'm buying a set of extractors, just not sure what car theyre out of. cheers, rob
-
cool.... hope I'm as lucky. did you change the yoke?
-
hmmm... i need to find some asian to send me TE stuff :S i'd like to thank everyone for a really thoroughly answered question! cheers, rob
-
sweet... which tailshaft is longer, auto or manual?? i was thinking of just getting a yoke and shortening my shaft, if its longer that is see what i mean about how hard it is to get parts in tassie :S
-
may i buy your one when your other one appears from japan?? also anyone got a manual tailshaft?? i am in tassie so i have been looking pretty hard at wreckers etc... ke20 parts are hard to find though
-
Will extractors out of a KE70 fit into a KE20 all right?? cheers, rob
-
just cable so i can use a k40/k50 box instead of this horrible 2 speed auto :S
-
i can't find any ke20's being wrecked and noones answering my wanted to buy post so does anyone on here know if i can use a pedal out of anything else? like do any cars have a clutch pedal that bolts out by itself i could mod to fit??? i really need a clutch for this whole crazy manual conversion to work so i need a solution anyone got a ke20 manual pedal box?? cheers, rob
-
strange, any of em for sale??? cheers, rob
-
what grinds my gears is when your 'rents pay telstra $60 a month for a 12meg connection with only 12 gig d/l limit when you can get a connection for $55 that gives you unlimited ovenight bandwidth and 53gig to use during the day (sorry to anyone on still 56k)
-
so when i go to the wreckers and ask for a ke70 and the guy shows me a 70 with a 3/4a hes just showing how ignorant he is about toyota nomenclature??? is the 71 body different to the 70 body? (i know absolutely nothing about any corolla that comes with anything other than a k motor) cheers for the info, really helpfull. Rob p.s i know all the body codes and that are in the faq (which ive read pretty extensively) but someone new to old rollas (like me) might not know all this stuff

yea, stupid bloody marketing ploy, i should go into pedders sometime and see if they can tune my suspension for radials as rolla's didnt come with RTS from factory..... does that mean i should be using cross-plys??? I'm pretty sure the cam has the same grind as as any other k, so it aint hi-lift, and as you said, the cam is fairly low in the block, so it aint hi-mount-cam, its a k motor so it aint hi-power... i guess it should just be buy-toyota. what other gimmicks are there? i guess anything with an OHV or OHC badge.. i mean come on, is DOHC even worth advertising anymore?? my old valiant had ELB (electronic lean burn) but that actually worked (measured consumption from 32 mpg without to 26 mpg with) so its not a gimmick anyone else got any cool examples?? cheers, rob

I'm pretty sure I'm getting a 1978 Hi-ace 4-door, 6-seater Van/Truck thing (its got a huge flat tray with a cage on the back) it's got a 12r and a 4spd column shift, just wondering if anyone knows a good forum for old toyota vans? I'm gonna put a 22r in it just wodering about the gearbox? do i need a 5 spd column shift or just any 5 spd??? i'd rather have it on the floor, but i think considering I'm sitting in front of and to the right of the engine theres no chance of that happening... also does anyone know if 78 hi-aces (whatever series that is, ill check the vin plate later) come with 4wd??? and if you can swap it over??? cheers in advance (and yes i still have a ke20 (ill get some ramps and put it on the back of the hi-ace and take a pic for everyone... itd be cool to have a 78 hiace and 74 rolla in matching colours!!!) p.s. just wondering what i can cart on this thing?? the leaves look custom, 6 leaves, Bottom 3 = 1 - 2cm Top 3 = .5 - 1cm thick anyone know if that sounds stock??
-
cool as, thanks for that. i still cringe when i see Radial Tuned Suspension, my bro used to have a gemi and i could never convince him to get rid of the RTS badge. Super Response would be fair enough if it had a 4agze or 4agte how can you call a K motor Hi Cam though? the cam is in the friggin block, it should be Hi Valve
-
so ke70s with hicam badges come with Ks AND As?
-
are the ke70s with "hi-cam" badges the ones with k motors?? just wondering cos most of em i see at wreckers have 4As in em, if i knew how to tell the difference quickly it would be great, also hi-ace vans have hi-cam badges too don't they?? (i hate hyphenations) what exactly does hi-cam mean?? is it just a marketing gimmick?? sorry if this has been covered before cheers, Rob

coolio... I'm very much a fan of bolt in conversions, mainly cos i can't weld engine mounts (or anything else for that matter (actually i made a spark plug man in year 10 metal shop (but thats kinda different))) the gemini mounts sound promising would you know if there was much fabrication involved?? (ill pm him sometime) i know this question gets asked alot, but what is the most "bolt-in-able" engine conversion for a ke20.. k and t motors sound 100% bolt in as long as you have the right parts... i don't mind having a junkyard dog with parts from 20 different cars, but i so don't want to do the research and development to make myself new mounts p.s. why does the 2.2L 5sfe in my mums camry make less power than a 3sfe??? and what are the options for an S donk into a KE series (actualy, now that i know, an E series) cheers, rob

anyone here whose strut brace wont clear their manifolds wanna sell theirs to me? name your price people... isnt the idea of the strut brace to stop the top of the shockies from flexing in and out? theres not a lot of stress on the shockies on a leaf set up is there? i thought most of the weight went on the leafs, but with the front the weight is on the springs and struts together? you could mount a rear bar, but i don't think it'd really do much (i heard they were mainly for fwd anyway, or was that the otherway around?)

sorry, i forgot i started this thread. so is a TE corolla, by definition a KE with a T motor instead of a K motor? how hard are TE2x rollas to find, do you pretty much have to import em from japan? and the x-member will bolt straight in right? apart from that I'm figuring: get the TE engine mounts, T Series gear box and fabricate a x-member? or TE gearbox x-member? Hydraulic clutch retro-fitted, T Series Diff or yoke changed and tailshaft shortened or lengthened to suit (and pray that the K diff holds up to T power) and of course the mighty T donk itself, and all the assorted efi jazz: Surge Tank, EFI Pump, ECU + Wiring Exhaust plumbing Intercooler (I WISH) i suppose id have to look beyond fitting KE70 front brakes and KE30 rears?? let me know if i've left anything out.. cheers, Rob

i think a tassie general discussion thread would be a great idea, although obviously this thread isn't the place for me to voice that opinion.... most of my posts involved me asking for a part or telling people i had some part, and I'm from tasmania, i didnt realise i was hurting so many people by posting in a corolla parts thread in the tasmania section.... this thread is the only thread i have gotten any decent replies on.... maybe we should start www.tasrollaclub.com.... i'm only jesting so i hope no moderator's take offense and ban me :) but mainlander's are ignorant (if your a mainland moderator don't even bother replying to me, this is a TASSIE thread and your not ALLOWED to post in here.... unless you know of a part in tassie) i have fixed all my posts to comply with whover i need to comply with... so i guess this non-relevant post will get to stay up here till friday... looking forward to a tassie general discussion thread..... or any tassie thread where were allowed to talk about whatever we want

fair enough, i guess if it was that simple everyone would be doing it
