Ca18Det Into Ke20 10,000 Budget. Is It Possible?
dopedx replied to Triz's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Haha your the same as me and id say alot of other car enthusiasts. Iv had the chance in the past to buy several cars for a fraction of the cost it was to build mine but hey at the end of it you learn new skills and you get to enjoy your own hard work. The best advice I had a few years back was to listen hard and ask heaps of questions itll save you ALOT and is free. Theres heaps of ca and sr conversions on here and other forums around the world full of helpful information all that will save you money when you come to buy parts as you wont have to do things twice or three times and you can figure out how to do stuff yourself. Good luck with the conversion :y: -
Ca18Det Into Ke20 10,000 Budget. Is It Possible?

A mate of mine here in chch just put a ca18det into his ke70. Cost him 12grand but he did absolutly nothing just dropped car off paid and picked it up. Had a hilux diff before it went in but had an lsd center added, brakes upgraded, mounts and so on and so on. For that 12 it was also completly certed. With 10grand it can be done with shopping around workshops. There was a full ca18de set up on trade me last week come with engine, engine mounts, gearbox, loom, computer the lot for $600. I know its not turbo but would be a good starting point in my opion. Why not go for a 4age turbo I know its been done a million times before but because of that there is unlimited info on the conversion and theres a few set ups on trade me for under 2grand complete. Just a thought. Or on the other hand you could buy a car already done for that if you didnt want the work or headache and that way you know exactly what the end product will cost you. Sorry if I sound like I'm going on but just trying to help out. -
Haha on behalf of the boys and girls in clubk here in nz cheers for the comments. Thats just a few of the cars in the group not bad huh? Theres pleanty more crusing around of the same quality that these ones are. A little taster you could say. :y:

 :y: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ thats deffinaty the best thing about owning an old car I have to say. Everyone in an old car seems to show you respect makes my day as well.

Great work mate bloody tidy job and ride youve got there. I was wondering what those rims your using are, are they 15s? Top work though looks overrated.
-
This is amazing. Build quality is top notch. What size and model are those red rims? Cheers

Hey guys I know this is an old thread but I used the sierra shocks you are talking about and I found them too stiff and with lowering springs they actually held the car up. I ended up using Hq monro gas shocks which have a much nicer ride and allowed the car to sit even lower. Just my two cents.

Looking good mate. Very tidy conversion. Bet she'll go like a cut cat. A ca is the way I'm planning on going in mine in the future. What brake set up are you running? Cheers Sam

The wheels are 15s. They are 15by6 I'm pretty sure running 195/45/15 tyres. i prefered them to the 14s as they don't rub where the 14s did with the tyres i had and i didnt want to touch the gaurds just yet. They have less dish and are more flatter. Each to their own i guess plus i got them for a really decent price.

Cheers for the positive feedback guys. Would of been nice to get some clean pics but as you can see I don't live in town and with a gravel drive its a prick to always keep clean. xmoht..... yip lights and bumpers came factory on it. Also alot of people ask if the aircleaner design is factory but its not, its my take at a little jdm styling.. :D

Hey guys and gurls. Have been on here for awhile posting here and there but never really uploded any infomation on what i have in my garage. Thought it was about time I should share. Let me know what you think. Its a 2 owner 1980 ke70 dx corolla Nz New and is factory twin headlight. It only has 135ks on the clock and the paint it mostly original. Has had all rust cut out and has a 4k which has had a fresh rebuild and twin carbs added. It actually goes suprisingly well for a 4k and 4speed. Its lowered 3 1/2 - 4 inchs and has 15inch celica/supra alloys on it. Standard interior except for a woodgrain steering wheel and center console. Nothing too extreme with massive offset a or crazy quick motor but I'm happy with it and i think i have achieved a clean modifyed look which doesnt draw too much unwanted attention. :D Cheers Sam [attachm ent=55847:6.jpg]

Haha... and my first stop in my new car will definatly be the feeesh and cheep shop for a scoop of cheeps... But thanks for the infomation guys. I think by the sounds of things its just easier to buy a car with rego and a rwc. I thought that was the case i just wanted to hear it from some real people not just reading it from internet sites hoping i hadnt missunderstood it. Will deffinatly be keeping an eye out on here (have been already) for a car hopefully someone will be able to help me out when the time comes. Will be looking for a job in construction as I'm a a qualified builder/chippie here if anyone had any good links or contacts. (sorry i know thats a bit off the subject of automotive. but worth a shot.) Cheers Again Sam
