Got stuck into it lastnight, change chrome bumpers, rear tail lights, front head lights, painted headlight surrounds and installed them. And emptied the interior. Now to strip the trim and dash out tonight and start moving across the interior

so yeah i lost interest in this ke70. dunno what happened but it got stripped down to this point and i got distracted building a motorbike. so lastnight i bought another KE70 lol. this one has 130,000km on it, box is tight, it runs, and is already white (factory) but its got some rust (I'm going to leave most of it as it adds character lol). So now I'm going to just move everything across from the old one to this, interior is blue but theres not much left in there. So i can either go brown or blue interior.

Going to get stuck into sanding the shit out of this shell on the weekend as its in acrylic and needs completely removing before i go further. once thats done i can attack the cancer (rust) and start prepping the shell (got to remove all the doors so theres not that much to do luckily.

so i lost motivation once i started pulling the white car down....decided it was a lost cause and cut my loses. It was rolled back into the storage shed. but yesterday i bought another ke70 1983 model. has a 4kc in it with a new head gasket, leads, tacho dash brown interior and is painted in undercoat grey. this is a perfect car to rebuild from (minus some crappy graphiti on the roof liner and on some other trim, in perminent pen (hopefully orange spray gets that off). All locks are bust so i'll be swapping doors over or locks and handles

Classic Japan 2013 - Sunday 1St December - Como Park, South Yarra
xris replied to carbonboy's topic in VIC / Melbourne
We've just started on rebuilding my car. - full hail damage repair - engine replacment with a low km engine - maybe. if ive got the time - clutch replacment - if i have the time - wheel refurb - starter motor reco. - make front coilovers - change lca/knuckles - respray - club reg Started stripping the car lastnight -
So its been a looong time since i did anything with the old girl. Luck hasnt been on her side after being destroyed by that christmas hail of 2011. Damage - Front window smashed, roof dinted, bonnet dinted, boot dinted, guards dinted, headlight surround broken. chrome trims dinted. So a write off really.... But were going to fix it. As we have another spare brown one were going to use as much parts from it as we can (that also copped hail but no where near as much damage as my white one. So lastnight finally got some motivation and started. Removed the front end (all panels, lights bumpers, lip, bonnet etc) So the plan of attack is. - strip the car - remove roof lining - fix roof dints - replace bonnet - replace boot - replace doors - replace front window - replace interior with brown dash, seats, carpet, trims, etc etc. - replace suspension (front and modify coilovers to fit) - replace clutch - reco starter - respray car - club register car As usual we've got only 1 month to build a car...

We offer a full service, from mechanical, fabrication(drift knuckles, exhaust systems, cages, custom cooler piping etc), paint and panel work.) so pretty much were a one stop shop. Owned and run by Drifters. I own a KE70, a 180SX with is the featured on the High Performance Imports Magazine 139, My brother owns a FC3S and we also own a few other track cars as well. We also helped sponsor last years Drift Attack. Heres our blog http://primalgarage.wordpress.com

Nar left it in the garage for the weekend :) Good to hear about the sticker :D hope heaps of people got one (had about 100+ stickers there to give out).

done it to a few cars now. mod the shaft to suit the rack, elongate the two back holes so the subframe just bolts on, manualise the s13 rack by pulling it appart and removing the plungers inside. redrill holes for ke70 castor arms, and your done. s13 tops need to be changed to ke70 tops for direct bolt in. or ae86 camber tops can be used. s13 bell housing on a r32 gearbox to bring the shifter back closer to stock. I then use the entire engine bay loom from the s13 and dash and wire it in so everything works. splice in the ignition to the loom also. few 3" holes cut in to feed the loom but other than that its straight forward.

 hopefully have mine sorted in the next few months. Coilovers arrived this morning :) new side indicators also arrived this week so i'll throw them on this weekend/tonight.

Yeh club reg is next on the cards. 90 days of driving a year i can handle that (got 3 cars, 180sx, vx commo, ke70, + track cars) so yeh that and the $130 for rego gets my tick of approval.
-
my rego still said it was painted "purple" pretty sure that had something to do with it.

165/65/14 on a 6.5" and 175/65/14 on a 7.5"

What confused the cop even more. he goes"wheres your tyre placcard?) i go in the door edge..."urgggh its in pounds...can you convert this for me??" i go no sorry.....couldnt comprehend stretched tires. his mind couldnt understand the simple concept. ...."theres just something not right about those wheels?!?"
-
was looking at how tatty they look atm when i had them off, was going to give them a touch up with a allumium coloured spray can ive got at the shop, i'll try black out on some spare ones ive got see which looks better.
-
yeh theyre attitude from the start "what are you driving a piece of shit like this for" got me annoyed straight away. was 9:45pm coming home from doing a 13 hour day just wanted dinner.... anyways yeh id love to see how a standard ke steering wheels going to offer me anymore support when i smash my head on it (like i did when i was rear ended hahahaha). seat belts retract just not fast enough for this dickhead cop... i tried it out on my commodore 2002 vx and its just as fast....
-
- steering wheel not padded - he goes you might hit your head in an accident...i bit back the words of yeh i did already.. lol - seat belts not retracting quick enough - WTF?!?! - wheels protruding the guards - bullshit wheels are in the guards - no filter on my weber - fair call trying to find a filter that fits a 32DIR weber?!? - exhaust not attached/loose (bullshit its on its hangers cop was a dog i grabbed the exhaust and go look its attached...no its not...whatever cockhead.. so....i spent some money on the car.. lol Finished off buying all the lights and i also bought a set of brand new coilovers ! ended up not going the HSD and got some G4 Racing coilovers for cheap. Rears are a shock and spring in 1 (so easy to change spring rates if i want) and front is a custom job i need to cut up some spare ae86 suspension and use that. Also comes with camber tops so no more Demon Camber :) New head lights are now on with Navar H4 globes Heres a pic of before and after (right is stock left is new) Heres a pic of it all changed over.
-
So i got defected..... :fuzz: :bash: soooo I'm moving it onto Club plates  Got abit of work to do before its "road worthy" so the list is as follows - Replace lca's with less camber (got a spare ae86 subframe, knuckles, lca, suspension sitting here ready to go) - Purchase new lights - New tail lights purchased and installed - New front side lights purchased and installed - New indicators purchased - New headlights to be purchased shortly - Suspension I'm going to go a custom coilover setup. New short stroke front shock with adjustable height (HSD kit). Rear softer spring with adjustable seat. This is all going to be sorted over the next few months. as ive got too many projects on atm :laff: so need my 180sx up and running before i start on the suspension on this. Will post pics of new light setup when i get a chance this weekend.
