ke30dude replied to ke30dude's topic in Rollaclub Rides
Got her home today, the fella doing the bodywork passed me a big cupfull of dirt that was removed from in behind the guards and inside the sills. Among the dirt was a dead mouse that had been there so long it was one dried out hollow casing with fur... Vic rego is cancelled, I need to build a carport to put her under. I need to replace the rear bushes next :jamie: -

For reliability I can't go past my datsun utes L18 motor, it uses a litre of oil or so every thousand km but has been on many 18 hour journeys with the car trailer without any sign of trouble. It can sit there for weeks and I walk up the back, jump in, 3 pumps of the throttle and it will fire right up :jamie: -
WGMG not being able to drive my ke55, handed in the vic rego to get it ready for nsw. can't proceed forward with it until the bodywork is done then to prepare for a blue slip .

Highest Odometer Reading On A Car You Have Owned.

My ke55 is in its second motor, with 370000, the original owner would do trips from canberra to melbourne weekly when she was younger sitting on 130km/h with a 4speed! No wonder the original motor cried too much after 19 years (she was rebuilt 11 years ago.) :jamie: -

Had a bit of a play with my ke55 today, since I got her the pedal has always gone halfway to the floor, I fixed this by adjusting the rear brake shoes and the pedal travel is near perfect now. The problem I am having is hard to describe, when braking the brakes work good when you are only gently braking but if you stomp them they feel as if they don't grab much harder, it is almost impossible to lock them up at 20+km/h Front pads look almost new, rotors seem smooth and have no marks at all from where a rock could have got stuck, etc.. Maybe I should look at replacing the brake fluid, the hoses, etc? I am getting this ready for a roady this week and would like to have the problem sorted asap. Or is the problem I am just used to my 01 corolla that will litterally put you through the windscreen if you put a bit of pressure on the brakes?

Not really any progress happening yet (only got in on sunday lol) took the old girl for a drive today to "get some mower fuel" Ended up spending most of the afternoon just cruising, was just driving like a granny with a big stupid grin on my face. can't wait to get her fixed up for NSW reg. can't drive it to work as somone tried breaking into it when the old owner had it and the door locks don't work at the moment (putting in new locks this weekend) -
haha noice, that front orange rad support is off my ke20 up the back :P looks like you are progressing well.

Waiting for the coca cola rep to come into work tomorrow, he used to be a spraypainter by trade, getting his advice on some things to do with the bodywork. Going to start polishing up the chrome parts this weekend, we will see how that pans out. :P -

It has always been a manual while the lady I bought it off had it, from 83-now can't account for the first 2 years of its life. Cheers got the comments guys, looking to get some paint mixed up to fix up that front apron this week. :) -
Hey guys, bought this little fella from a colleague today for $800. The lady whoe owned it has had it for the last 28 years, it is in pretty good shape for the amount of work it has done, if it needed repairing she had it fixed. I have been asking for years if she wants to sell it and then the other day I got a phone call saying she "upgraded" to a commodore. Specs: Engine: original 4k, has been re ringed once 14 years ago Gearbox: K40 4sp Factory air con - Still blows ice cold! Almost overrated dash - She somehow got a NOS dashpad In the 90's, unfortunately it has a small crack. Stock wheels with chrome trims Chrome gutter strips. Original phillips AM radio and cassette - works perfect too. With 374000km on it it drives extremely well, almost better than my zze122r corolla. When I put new bushes in the back end soon it should handle even better. No major rust to be found, few small dings, lots of stone chips on the front I will repair soon. Plans: Keep it stock as possible and just improve on whats there, I don't want to modify it much if any at all. Comments are wqelcome, just going to update this as I go.

Actually she has calmed down a lot now... There is already 4 corollas out the back and 2 out the front, thats what started getitng her annoyed.
-
On my ke20 it took all of about half an hour and just plugged right in. :)
-
WGMG: Why can't I say no. Another ke55 hardtop, overrated condition with almost 400 000k and it drives better than my 01 corolla, offered for a price I couldnt resist. Missus was pised, I came home with a huge grin though.
-
That looks really good, slowly helping me get the inspiration together to fit all the rear end bushes I bought for the rear end of mine.

Tool Thats Not A Tool. Whats Your Favourite?

I used my spare parts ke20 as a ladder the other day, pruning branches from a tree in the back yard I stood on the roof of it with my chainsaw. Also have been using it to drag high up branches down to where I can reach them.
