If I get this one it will be 5, a 20, 30 a 26 and my 01 ascent. How long till the motor is in?
-
Good to see some progress, I was wondering what was going on with your project. I might be getting a 70 soon too.

To be honest, I don't know, I will look tomorrow. Such a reliable old thing, we took it to melbourne a couple of years ago to get my ke26 (1200km round trip) wagga to get my ke20 (250km round) then off to brissy recently to help somone move up there (can't remember the exact km's but well over 2000km round). One day we should get a 5sp for it instead of the 4, the poor thing on the highway at 110 was revving its guts out.

OMG the slick turboo flutterz uleh. occasionally a manifold to suit (or can be made to) turns up on ebay.

I know this is entirely the wrong forum, but my tow ute is a nissan/datsun 720 ute and I am having a problem with the oil pressure. When I start it cold it usually has the oil light on for 3-4 seconds, as for late it stays on for a good 10 seconds. - The oil is relatively new and clean - filter was changed at the last oil change - Oil is GTX2 - engine is 230000km old and never been opened for work. - Oil consumption is about 1L to 2000km, not smokey or anything I think she is leaking a little. Is this a sign of engine wear, or a faulty sender unit or something? Anything to really fuss over? Other than that it drives reallt well still, no abnormal noises, always gets us to where we want go go scab another rolla from with the trailer. Having some wierd electrical probs wth the taillights but otherwise all is good apart from the oil light. Cheers to anyone that can shed some light.

10.5:1 should be ok with your timing set right and running decent premium.

Use the attachment points as suggested by mad max, however what works really well for me is bolting chain to the two mounting points. to stop the chain slipping through the hook on your lifting gear, run a coule of long bolts through wither side of the hook when you get the right angle you want.

Corollas and minis in the shed! reminds me of my cars at dads place lol. Wagon looks cool!

Both of mine were so perished they broke while stripping my ke20 :)
-
Whats your return spring like? maybe put a heavier one on there. Lubing the linkages will work for a while hen dust and stuff gets attracted to it. :P
-
How many cars do you have now? ha. I have a new genuine taillight for one of these somewhere, I thought when I was bidding it was for a ke26 (seller didnt have pics) Good luck with it.

PUlled the battery from the commodore earlier, put it in, and it went first pop again. Reversed out of the garage onto the side of the road drove down to the driveway and into the yard. (I hate living on a corner like I do, surely I will get booked one day.) Sanded the rear right quarter, and started rodoing the bog from a side impact years ago, one more layer and I can put that part in primer. onto the left side again to finish that off, sand the roof, inner door area and then prime the lot.
-
Car is stripped enough to just mask up the doorways and window holes, sand and bog/weld then paint. About to go start it up and drive it into the yard to get everything roling along.

karatan does a really good job, I have a custom sub box for my vs commodore made by them to fit the rear right hand sde of the boot perfectly.

Saw this on ebay this morning and it reminded me of this thread..... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TOYOTA-COROLLA-PANE...1QQcmdZViewItem -
Nope, I did dind that ke20 doors were good donors for sheetmetal to repair my 26 doors.
-
2 door ke26 or 4? 4 door wagons have much shorter doors than a sedan. @ door wagons may go really close.

Day to day my zze122r sedan is great, in the last 6 weeks I covered 7000+km only filling it up with fuel and I checked the tyre pressures once. Shame it is auto, the paint is peeling really badly and the aftermarket cruise control that toyota fitted was making the throttle stick so I removed it. The single disc mp3 player decks are pretty poor as well. I used to have a paddok basher ke20, we used that for years before we restored it because it wouldnt stop. I have many photos of it filling the farm yard up with 12" tyre smoke. My current ke20 was bought for memories sake, while my fiance was pregnant with my daughter she sat in the drivers seat while I towed it into my yard, bub went nuts, we are now restoring it with a mild 4k in her memory. My ke26 I bought in melbourne and towed it home 550km away with my mates 720 ute, It had no motor but we took the 3k out of my ke30 for it, before the motor blew it put on some mean smokeshows, one day it will cop the original 3k from my ke20 project and be running hubcaps andoriginal toyota brown. I love the old corollas, every time I have had one out and about you have a lot of people over talking to you, towing my ke20 home from wagga wagga I had several older people telling me about the one their family had when they were young, one tried to buy it off me off the trailer.

I am not really up there with the technical terms but I know it was a severe brain disorder, which has no apparent cause or cure, they didnt even have a name for the condition. No apparent cause or cure, but the autopsy results come back in a couple ofmonths. Cheers guys.

Fusion well done on the 'puta, I am yet to buy a new system cos I have a friend that works at the tip scabbing them for me. -
Well we finally got home a week and a half ago. This project is now dedicated to my daughter Alexis Kate, 28/7/08 - 15/8/08 Engine has made good progress! stock internals for now, have to clean up and refresh a 3k head for it tomorrow. all new rings, bearings, gaskets. Tried on a 1zzfe oil filter tonight for size and it fits incredibly well. I may toy with this idea later on down the track. Body is almost ready for paint, all bolt on panels except the doors are rubbed back, skim the ripples from the dents and they will be good. I cracked the windscreen trying to get it out of the damn old seals, however I searched all over my fathers back yard today looking for a badge for somone and founf a original ke20 windscreen with the old skool NRMA sticker on it. I need to find a battery with enough go in it to kick the old 3k into life to drive it out onto the lawn to work on the main shell. Anyway PICS!
