  1. Basically i'm interested in finding out whether there are similarities, given i've done a quick search and could find little on the topic. Could a twin manifold from a datsun 1200, fit a 3/4k head?? As a seller on Ebay mentions that his twin weber manifold does fit a 3/4k. Regards.
  2. Could anyone conferm whether there was a difference between the models with the front windscreen and front windscreen seal. As i'm looking at purchasing one shortly. Many thanks Chris
  3. i dare say your speaking from exprience etc. i think the gsr turbo is at stock rated at approx. 7psi without a modified wastegate.which if your on the money is the limit. Then if i was to incoperate a blow throu carbie setup with a large intake and plentum, this would reduce pressure until high revs given the stock gsr setup is rather restrictive. hmmm... more food for thought i'll have to hit my mate up about his spare gsr engine intake and exhaust setup. time for some late night fabrication i say. cheers
  4. Waho, cheers guys i know what i'll be doin on wednesday. and if your close to the mark with a guess at 8.5 compression then a small little turbo would be a perfect addition. i can get my hands on a gsr lancer turbo too.......... mmm... the possibilities, well i offically have a new project. hehe the missus will kill me. cheers guys
  5. Ok dokie, Just a Quick question to put my mind at easy, I've got a 3k motor here with a blown head, and a rebuilt 4k head also, can i put these two together, aka are these compatable. in order to put together a cheap yet reliable motor, both bottom end and head are in vgc. cheers Chris.
  6. just a quick one can anyone tell me whether both wires to the two seperate solinoids on the carbie are both positive? cheers
  7. slide hammer
  8. cheers nick, pm me your contact details, when you check the shed. many thanks
  9. nick, keen as if you've got one lying around, even a 4k carbie. seems like i'm learning more and more about these old rolla's everyday. i just can't put my finger on what's wrong with the old girl atm, it sounds like a 10a bp idleing, WTF?
  10. cheers for your help so far guys, but just to throw a spanner in the works here is what i have discovered lately, after renewing the points and setting the points gap again, i did another compression test, result was approximately, 170 psi with all cylinders roughly even. i assume it's a 3k head given there is no welsh plug in the back of the head but instead a 4 bolt plate. The reason for the engine transplant was that the previous 3k spat the head after the previous owner neglected to use coolant. yet upon some deep arse thought about the problem at hand, the seriously inconsistant idle, i remembered the 3k sounded just the same after i discovered it's faulty head. my assumptions are: the 4k is in realatively good working order for it's age and the lenght of time it's been sitting. given the car is idleing poorly it's carbie related, as it purrs like a kitten at approximately 1500 rpm and above. with serious overfueling above 4500 rpm. and i can only assume with coolant entering the exhaust and intake on the original 3k that this is some how related to the current problem. so, has anyone had experience with moisture in a carbie and if so what was your car's symptoms. and does anyone have a 3k carbie sitting around in good working order so i can test whether my theroy, cash buyer - brisbane :y: cheers
  11. Argh!!! thought 120 was too low for a 4k with a 3k head, i'll check it again tomorrow before i tear my hair out. it's blowing blue smoke and it only seems to be when you use the accelerator pump, otherwise no smoke what so ever?? this is why it's got me aboslutely stumped. meh not complaning for a $50 engine. so curiously thou, let say i gotta rehone the block and drop in some new rings, what would be the estimated cost? and could it be done by only dropping out the bottom end with the car up? cheers chris
  12. Hey guys, just two quick questions i hope you can help me with! Firstly can anyone comment from experience what a 4k with a 3k head should run like with a 3k carbie bolted on to it. do they over fuel? fart miss etc? reason for question is after an enigne swap we've found that the 4k is running rough as (think it's mainly thanks to faulty points) but yet overfuels and blows smoke as a result in the higher end of the rev range. yet none at idle or during startup, which one would expect from worn valve seals or rings. What should the expected compression be cylinder to cylinder on the above setup be? roughly 120 psi on a used motor? any help would be great guys' cheers
  13. thanks for your help guys with locating the fuseable links, only one hassel their not the problem, ok what's the one thing an auto car won't do in any other gear but park, turn on. i had forgoten to rewire the manual safety switch for the auto. which for those playing at home also stops the hazards and indicators from working as well, and after consulting a wiring diagram dispalys the same diagnosis as a broken fuseable link. ARGHH!!!! hehe now to drop the manual box out again thanks to forgetting to reset the clutch fork pivot as i've got no clutch bite ....... oh the fun and games continue.. thanks heaps guys again.
  14. just read the topic rules, for those i haven't introduced myself to yet, i'm chris obviously. i've just purchased a ke20 for my other half and after owning it for the past month i too am on the look out for a ke10. (converted rotary fan with 4 rx4's to his name) not to many mods to list on the old girl apart from 88 original miles, beautiful intact interior, bone cream color, fully rebuilt and lowered suspension and steering, rebuilt brakes and diff etc. etc. and a ke30 5 speed manual conversion, which i'm 2/3 of the way throu now, which is why i'm looking for the fuseable links given some one :D forgot to disconect the battery before dropping out the starter and bang, sparks every where and whoops. hope you guys can help. thanks
  15. ok, just a quick one for those with ke20's, i've blowen the fuseable link from the starter to hazards and indicators, apartently from the wiring harness the wire should be red? can anyone tell me from experience just where i'll find the pair of fuseable links? as i need to get the car on the road asap! and i can't find them for the life of me. many thanks chris
