Vt Saloon Car Build, Super Six Touring Car Racing
orangeLJ replied to glenpos's topic in Rides - non-Toyota
Full road going weight is somewhere around the 1700kg weight (electric seats, windows etc etc included in that) I'm pretty sure the manual box is just as heavy as the auto (T5s suck to drop on your face...) Given what you've taken out, but the stuff youve put back in (cage etc) it would still have to be tipping the scales somewhere close to 1500kg -
From a legal standpoint, I think you'll find its silver/blacktop or nothing if you want a 4age (so no 16v 4AGE) As a rule of thumb, going backwards in year model (engine wise) is a bit of a no-no when it comes to engine swaps.

Most companies do a range of colours now (black and silver included) I'm only running black stuff these days, red/blue is just too gaudy.

With all the trouble you have gone to with having bits custom made from scratch, or making yourself, Why not go with a custom fuel tank (alloy) from someone like browns tanks? (or any qualified sheety really) You could design it with internal baffles, built in swirl pot/surge tank more capacity (or less, whatever you wanted really) Would save you needing to run anything external (fuel wise) Cost would obviously be the downside, but it would definitely fit with the whole "do it right the first time" approach that you've taken with the conversion? Just a thought. :)

I've gotta say, I'm impressed! Looking at the first couple of posts, I was thinking this wouldnt go too far, but you've definitely proved my assumptions wrong! good job! -
You're going backwards to be honest. It wont make any more power, infact, I'd wager on it making less, you're essentially taking a system capable of much greater flow and control (the factory EFI maps have thousands of reference points) and replacing it with a carby that is considered an upgrade for 4 cylinders and smaller capacity 6 cylinders and then attempting to tune it. If you want to dick about, but a "performance chip" from ebay and have a play (or visit delcohacking forums and do it yourself) much more to be gained from that than carby (and I'm a carby guy!) To adapt the current manifold to fit the weber would give you shitty distribution (you'd have all sorts of issues with atomised fuel forming droplets in the plenum and runners, not to mention the host of other problems) Sure it'll be different, but it will be terribly crap.
-
don't touch the injection, you're asking for trouble if you do. Buy a set of high ratio yella terra rockers ($700) and a plenum spacer and you'll be laughing (and wont need to be tuned) with the 5 speed behind it, the rockers essentially acting like a cam with more lift and a decent set of pipes+cats, you'll be suprised how well it will go.

Thought I'd snapped you at the nats, similar but different

I've noticed a big rise in porno floating about... latest one today was a couple going at it from behind, she was leaning over the toilet, as it gets to the end of the session, he dunks her head, flushes and holds her down till he is done.... definitely interesting.

*sigh* I know a guy who got hit by a car while crossing the road somewhere other than a marked crossing too... shits dangerous.... You're more likely to get cleaned up by Johnny red-Pees in mummy and daddy's minivan than you are by a random canadian bloke in a corolla....- 48 replies

I'd say the doing it the morris minor way would be your best bet. IF it is legal, I'd be more inclined to build the car much like a nascar/funnycar setup. Use the MX5 chassis with body removed (so basically a rolling driving floor pan) Remove the "body" of the KE30 (so you basically have the life size equivelant of an RC shell) Add structural roll cage (made to fit within the restrictions of the KE30 body) that essentially replaces any strength normally supplied by the body construction as well as provides impact protection. Drop KE30 body onto the lot, fab some infill panels, etc etc. (obviously you would drop the body on and off many many times when stripping and then building the cage) Would technically exist as an MX5 then, no dicking about with remaking rails and suspension mounting points (lots more dicking round with bodys and temporary braces etc though)
-
well thats a bonus atleast!

I think the biggest question is what are your fabrication skills like? anything is possible given the skills, time, resources and cash. First thing you need to do is research the difference in track (width) of the KE30 and the MX5(miata) to determine if its within a workable tolerance. Then I'd look at how the Miata rear subframe mounts, what the chassis rail width is, is there a centre brace to hold the diff centre etc etc. I'd also look at what sort of laws you need to comply with to have it legally road registered too (you guys in the states get it pretty easy compared to here) This is a similar, yet different conversion to what you are thinking of- S13 nissan silvia IRS rear end into AE86 sprinter http://forum.twincam.org.au/topic/1839-adans-spoonter/

his torana was much much cooler hahaha. I've met Heath a few times when I've been down in Vic visiting other torana friends (Matt with the orange LX hatch) I suppose you might know Brad (with the Red UC and WRX goon) as well then?
-
considering there couldnt be more than one young guy with a porsche doing hills runs in victoria.... I can deduce that you're friends with Heath?

Hard to read, but does that defect mention the fact that its a non standard engine anywhere at all? or were they too busy picking up all the non-issue bullshit (well... being so low is kind of an issue.. lol) to tell the difference?

www.jango.com www.grooveshark.com two more awesome music sites. Jango is like what you are talking about, you make a "station" and it plays music from the artists you pick, as well as related. Grooveshark is just a big online media player, you search out the songs you want and make playlists.

Standard they all run MAF sensors, and apparently, in the LS2 range onwards, they get great results, even retaining the MAF sensor (and therefore staying "legal") Where as the LS1 range needed the MAF removed for any sort of tune to be worthwhile. My brothers 08 SS sedan runs low 12s with a tune, extractors, exhaust and OTR

you'll need some $$ to get yourself entered in any legal bathurst event. None of the events I've been to have been cheap (for race entry or otherwise) But good luck! Atleast if you don't run into some meandering tourist drivers on a flying lap, and happen to get done for speeding... international licence, leave the country, no harm no foul!- 48 replies

should clarify, its the last of the series one, before they rolled to S2 in 2010, I should have said something more like "its not the first production series of the model" Generally, new model has bugs for the first couple years (so 06-07-08) being an my09 means its less likely to suffer original flaws. if that kinda makes sense? I'm absolutely ʞ©$ɟed today, tired as, can't think and type haha
