  1. Why were you trespassing in the first place? seems a bit silly to blame the judge when you f@$ked up in the first place.
  2. I thought about the "personalised plates are easy to remember" thing..... Then decided that I drive a bright orange 1972 model car, thats loud and pretty unique.... i don't think the plate made much difference!
  3. haven't you heard? smokings the coolest thing in the world... I think I got over the "smoking is cool" at about 15.... some people just take longer to get over it I suppose, others just get hooked and "need" them afterwoods. I used to smoke when I drank, now I can't stand it. Pop died of smoking related problems at 73, just dropped dead while mowing the lawn one day. If I cop a mouthful of smoke, I dry reach.... But yeah, anyone under 20 seems to think that smoking is the best thing you can do, goes side by side with getting sloppily drunk every weekend and abusing/ showing no respect for everyone and their property...
  4. I'm betting the shocks are rooted in the front, often gives people the impression of "vague" steering, means the car will like to wander on the road sometimes. AE82 hatch would be a bit lighter then the AE92 seca too, something to consider when making comparisons between the two.
  5. bahahahaha, JiP, that sounds like something from seinfield, I coudl just see someone rolling out of bed trying to click the alwarm off with their chin. WGMG is traffic. Every freaking slow car has to be on the road when you are in a hurry to get to work.
  6. and then we here in NSW cop the tail ends of both! so we get flooded and then boiled (or vice versa!)
  7. Holy shit! how much were the cars worth originally from Toyota? I'd say its pretty safe to assume that AE112R computer would be completely different considering the turbo factor, I was more pointing towards borrowing an ECU from anyone with an AE112R sportiva turbo (I know they are reasonably rare, but thought you might have known someone) and try that out, If thats not an option, then Teddy's idea about pulling down the ECU to check for damage could be your only bet. If it turns out to be the ECU, it would obviously be cheaper to go aftermarket, hell the top of the range Motec units cost less then that factory ECU! The ones we run in sprintcars (which are really overkill for a street car) are only about $5-10k per unit and harnesses. ohhh, and no worries Teddy, I always had the idea that dealerships were shocking, but was pretty surprised once I found out how bad it really is for myself. You don't realise just how many numb-skulls work in the car industry in general, they just seem to culminate at dealerships (safety in numbers?) I don't doubt there are a few good mechanics at some dealerships, Its more the majority are just shithouse.
  8. Missus spent a fortune on a new multi station thing that blends, food processor thing and a juicer.... I might just get inventive once we are in the house!
  9. If it had enough force to bed a strut then it might have pulled the strut tower with it. is there any cracking in the paint around the top of the strut tower? If the impact bent the rail then you should be able to find stress marks somewhere along the rail or the connected body work from the movement. Have you got some shots of where the strut/wheel ended up and which direction it was pulled/pushed? would help with telling you Best bet is usually to grab a tape meaure and a piece of string and start measuring things. Go from the rear of the bonnet (as in the channel on the car), diagonally accross the engine bay to a point on the front corner. Do the same from the other corners, measure the distances from rail to rail and compare them to another car if possible, otherwise just look out for anything odd (changes in widths where there is no visible bends that would indicate something has moved) From the look of the door gaps it does seem like somethings wrong but its really hard to tell unless you can check the allignment in person. Know a good panel beater you can trust to give you an honest opinion?
  10. I can honestly say I never contemplated blending up solids like burgers and roast dinners! I actually like the idea! haha.
  11. What did you hit? Doesnt look like its horribly bad, but pictures car always be deceiving. Got some overall shots of the front of the car?
  12. I know ALOT of dealership mechanics, both those completing apprentiships and those in charge of whole workshops as supervisors or foremen (ford, mazda, holden, jaguar etc etc not just one brand) And you know what they all have in common? They know sweet f@$k all about most things. And just so you know, I spent some time doing work for dealerships in my last job before I decided to go to uni and get an office job, so infact, I do know what does on. You may be lucky enough to work for a decent place, but they are few and far between and the majority are full of generations of ill-equiped and badly taught "mechanics" teaching the new generation of mechanics to be.... and the cycle continues. On the topic, Are toyota ECUs security sealed? would breaking the seals then void any claim on toyota for design faults in the ECU etc? Seem you borrowed parts from another turbo corolla before, Can you swipe the ECU from it to confirm the ECU is the cause? How much are they worth new from Toyota? I imagine they are worth a fair bit?
  13. people that are too stupid for their own good and really should stop strangling their tin penis so tight (when it turns purple, its time to let go mate) people that expect their hissy fits to attract attention and make people "respect" them more on another unrelated note- people that make promises they can never keep asians in camrys that do 20 kays under in the right lane forcing everyone to undertake them. Bastards in the NSW govt that say we don't get an anzac day long weekend and are contemplating removing boxing day as a public holiday (see link) http://www.lastminute.com.au/docroot/site/...P_090205_ONLINE Young kids with tatoos that think it makes them intimidating Young kids who think they are intimidating in large groups, but wouldnt dare give you a second look on their own Kids or adults who damage others cars for no good reason "accidental" parents (not all accidental parents, just the young ones who do it for the baby bonus and/or have no hope in hell of raising decent, morally sound children) bad parents etc. I have lots more, but that will do for now!
  14. what did you end up doing with the wilwoods and the brembos? still got them? How much to pry them from you? The old man needs a new set soon for the race car. Tidy car mate!
  15. meow! Should see the sway some of the stacks get going! not my cup of tea! I was so contemplating boxing in one of the apprentices cars with some empty containers though, I was cruising round in an empty container handler trialing some things and saw it parked there.... If I had of had ten minutes without all the other blokes walking around he would have had fun trying to leave that afternoon!
  16. I didnt really think about the fact that most japanese stuff is all metric headed bolts and nuts, I kept wondering why everyone only had metric sets :D
  17. I understood that, didnt find it that funny. But wanted to have my 2c on the issue. I know people Idolise them and they are role models, but plenty of people smoked dope before they saw him doing it, and plenty will continue to... It would be a tiny tiny tiny portion of society that picks up the bong and packs a cone because they saw michael phelps do it!
  18. The worst thing with that is, what happens when it gets to the last file and then decides it can't be moved so it cancells the whole thing :y: Spent the whole day yesterday at Port Botany climbing all over container handlers. Its not much fun to be standing below a 7high stack of 20 foot empty containers when the wind is blowing pretty strong! scared the shit out of me!
  19. I honestly couldnt give two shits if the bloke smoked some pot, I don't get why its such a massive deal to the world.
  20. I'm not really a fan of setting long term goals, there always tends to be too many unknown factors that impact on my life in the course of the year and I come away disapointed I didnt meet all of them. That said if I was to set some goals- -Be happier all the time -Drive the torana ALOT more -Finish and debut the race torana with my old man -Get the first year of our mortgage paid off without any hassles -Find a new job -Strike another year off my degree and the one that I'm most hesitant to make a goal is losing 10-15kilos, Ive made that mistake before, but I'm a lazy person, I'm not a big self motivator and I don't respond well to any sources of external motivation (I just tend to get angry! lol) BUT the major thing I have going for me in that field, is the new house. I've never been big on boxing or doing weights infront of anyone at home (always just felt stupid) But now I have my own shed, I can workout in peace and quite and get back to the fitness level I had when I was playing footy.
  21. Few things that I noticed in this thread, don't try and mix 2 pac primer and acrylic base General rule of thumb is to keep acrylics with acrylics and 2pak with 2 pak. Some colours are clear coated from factory, others arent. Most, if not all 2 pak aftermarked resprays are clear over base. Not only does it help protect the colour, it provides depth and shine. The elctric brakes would have jacked up the price a fair bit, I still use over-riders on our car trailer with no dramas and If I was building a new trailer, would more then likely go with overriders for the simple fact that they are cheaper and easier, but still effective. The only other suggestion Id have for people building trailers would be to use the ribbon weave mesh instead of checkerplate, its alot lighter, just as strong and grippier. Id also leave the centre section of the trailer un-covered (can then double as a raised platform to work under if need be) as it also reduces the weight. Looks like it came up really good though, solid as an ox and should last you forever. Cheers, Chris
  22. ohhhh so true. Kevin Rudd grinds my gears, but that would be an essay to write out why. The bloke wanted to be famous. media campaigns got him elected, not his political prowess. Yes the global financial crisis was not his fault, nor could he have prevented it, BUT he would have f@$ked up in a big way eventually, even if this didnt happen. I love the fact so many people I know that voted Rudd are now turning to bag him out...
  23. I'm pretty sure the seven pounds was in reference to his heart? as in the organ weighed seven pounds. Was pretty hectic where he got in the bath hey!
  24. I encourage everyone to become an organ donor, and to make that fact known to your relos. On a similar note, has anyone else seen the latest will smith movie? "7 pounds" real tear jerker and pretty around the twist. Not at all what I expected and it has to do with the above topic too (strangely co-incidental) Torana is all fixed now, new rear wheel cylinders, new front brake lines and fixed the tappet cover leak. all good fun!
  25. Elsie the cat. 12 months old on thursday!
