  1. I'm not saying that the club decides on the overall conditions, but some are willing to endorse your run to a mates place more then others.
  2. hahahaha! I thought the sparks in the shoes and pockets that catch fire were painful! I think we have been through about 5 walk around uniden phones in the last 3 years, you stick them in your top pocket and keep working, then when you go to talk, you notice a spark has burnt through the speakers or the mic!
  3. different car clubs have different regs when it comes to the club rego too. Some clubs limit you to club runs, others will be fine if you simply ring and tell them where you are heading.
  4. I understand the styling, its something that overall, doesnt really appeal to me. that car is pretty tasteful IMO, its simply the stretch on the tyres that kills it for me. As for stretched tyres improving handling, each to their own I suppose, but there is a reason you don't see stretched tyres in top tier motorsport, but yeah, everyone has an opinion on it, I'm not a fan, but it has its place still :hmm: :)
  5. Heat would soften the glue on the tape too..... Ive clipped myself with an out of control grinder more then once and boy it hurts, but when you are holding the grinder you can manage to pull it away before it has a chance to really dig in, with the one on the bench, it would go off "willy nearly" and make a mess! :lolcry: Here I am thinking we are a bit bodgy when it comes to safety! I weld in shorts and thongs with the "close your eyes" method of protection :)
  6. once again, not even going to go there. :lolcry:
  7. gave me an afternoon giggle. I don't see too much wrong with the process, its simply the fact that its on an excel.
  8. still not giving heavy vehicle (over width, over weight and over height) permits though.
  9. The stretched tyres overdo it for me, something about ruining the handling and just (IMO) looking stupid.
  10. time to go sit in it and make "broom broom" noises then hey!? I just can't believe the dramas you have had from a stock standard car.
  11. What is the donated money actually going to go towards? there were 2000 houses burnt down (I think it was around that) But id have to guess 3/4 of them were insured. all public works buildings would have been insured, roads, power lines etc etc are all govt things. so where does the money go? they already have a shipload of cash that has been donated, I don't think they need to cop another 2 billion. They would be better off to throw that 2 billion to the NSW govt to fix our f@$king hospitals. (whole other issue there!) As for QLD, Ive been trying to organise some heavy frieght up that way (townsville) for a month, but its still a no permit area, which means we can't get in with a 60 tonne load on a low loader.
  12. If you are game, venture to some of the commodore sites, mainly the V6 sections. there are people getting VERY respectable figures from ecotechs and even some from buicks.
  13. is it the started ticking? Give it a bit of a whack with a hammer (via a block of wood if need be) Sticky solenoids will often tick, a little bit of a whack frees them up usually.
  14. what happened with this?
  15. The cheaper option (carby wise, not sure on the manifold) would be SUs. I'm sure twin 1.75" (inch and three quater) SUs would be more then enough for a STD and even a worked engine. sets of 3 come up for anywhere from 200-500 dollars with holden manifolds, so if you can source a manifold, it might be the way to go (if they are the right series, Id even buy the third one from you!)
  16. Thanks! We picked up the keys on monday afternoon (free bottle of bubbly to go with them!) and spent the night cleaning and had some friends and family around for pizza and beer in an empty house! haha. finished cleaning yesterday and started some of the painting, the previous owners before the guy we bought the house from, painted one room a bright green with a black cornice..... not the best look, so it has to be undercoated to stop any bleed through. As for the spending money thing, its started already! everywhere I look there is things to do, money to spend etc etc. but baby steps to start with! It still hasnt hit me that we own our house (well the bank does, but you get what I mean!) the first mortgage payments should bring it down pretty heavily!
  17. but Mr plod doesnt like slicks! Also, can't always run slicks in every class, sometimes you need some decent street tyres too!
  18. JiP C31 is "channel 31" a community free to air channel, can't get it on digital tellies, and I can only ever manage to get it half fuzzy. victoria get it the best, and NSW get a half assed reception, but it has some decent shows (lots of car stuff)
  19. settlement today! We get the keys anytime after 2.30 today and we step into the biggest debt of our lives (thus far!) Hooray! and we have 4k left over from the FHOG that we can sit on as a "just in case" fund, so we are happy!
  20. 13" and 14" tyres (well atleast decent width tyres) are becoming a pain in the arse to find. I struggle to find anything larger then a 205 or 215 in a 13" size (if i do its a very limited range and usually old stock) From what Ive found when I looked at 14s instead was that its slowly dwindling off in the 14" range aswell for wide (I'm talking 245+ tyres with a decent but not massive sidewall) We still get our slicks in 13s though :) so thats a plus!
  21. Victoria is pretty dry all over hey, We have friends in melbourne that came up and stayed with us over the new year period, they were stoked with the fact we could wash our cars and hose the garden! not to mention the fact we got flogging down rain while they were here.
  22. That smart car one was on telly a while ago I think, I was sitting there thinking it was going to get absolutely murdered, but i was pleasantly surprised! Everytime I used to see one on the road, Id always contemplate how bad an accident between a large car/bus/4WD and a smart car would be, so it was cool to see. May not be out of the water with youtube! It will load most of the other videos from other sites (like daily motion etc) but wont load the youtube ones! I suppose I will have to rely on them finding me the videos I want on other sites (which is pretty much a given for anything worthwile watching these days)
  23. We are experiencing pretty similar problems at the moment, although not with hold ups in the design process.... our place more likes to design things WHILE they are being built... its a hit and miss affair most of the time. Our problems are with order backlogs. Some orders were taken 12-24 months ago, and were done at, what was then, a competitive price. However now, with the market falling down around us, prices for materials have skyrocketed and where we once had VERY healthy margins we now face losses on something like 60% of orders. Something about ringing up customers and asking for another 100k never sits well and has resulted in the cancellation of a fair few orders as a compromise (we don't penalise them for pulling out, they don't make us follow through with a loss creating venture) But many customers have simply walked away from their orders due to us taking so long to produce trucks. I have one customer whos unit is now overdue by 499 days... long time to be without what you need!
  24. I can get to ebay via a proxy, but I don't like to use it that way (it makes it a pain to browse! haha) and I don't want to log in over a proxy! lol. Thanks heaps for that google videos thing, will come in very handy from now on! trademe.com.nz and oztion are still open, just not ebay! hahaha.
