  1. I originally thought it must be dust in my room or something similar, but it happens everywhere I happen to sleep. I'm not a fan of doctors, so If its not killing me, I generally wont go to one! I haven't tried to see if its just being horizontal, I might have a few lay down sessions on the weekend and see what happens. actually, just read another thread that reminded me of something for here. My neighbour. we used to hang around alot a few years ago and were pretty good friends. Then we kinda drifted apart, and he fell off the wagon, been through about ten jobs in the last two years (gets fired for not turning up, or flogging stuff etc, but I suppose atleast he gets jobs instead of bludging off the taxpayer), gets pissed and then decides to drive to friends houses. I didnt want to be the wet blanket, but I had to say somthing to his parents (for his and everyone else on the roads sake) and they said they had tried talking to him, but he tells them "I'm 19, people my age are meant to do this stuff" (I'm only 21, so its not like I'm that out of touch with him age wise) Thats bad enough, but there is more. He had an excel as his first car, crashed it, I helped him repair it, he then blew the gbox, helped him fix that, then he sold it to a friend for $500 when he had trashed it again. Then bought a nice clean VS commodore. always had bald tyres, slowly got trashed, blew the motor and then couldnt afford to fix it, so he bought a bronze flat fronted KE70 off a friend for $600 with 6 months rego. the thing was rusty as and wouldnt pass another pink slip wihtout alot of work. So yesterday, I came home to find him punching panels, jumping on the bonnet, the roof etc etc. I asked him what he was doing, and he told me it was out of rego today, so he was going to trash it, drive it up to the ridgeway and rally it, then set it on fire (in a heavily forested area with alot of rural housing etc etc) Front end was pretty much perfect (gaurds, grille, headlight surrounds, headlights, bumpers etc) just such a f@$king moron. No idea about anything and no respect for anything or anyone these days.
  2. what grinds my gears is blocked noses (the man cold thing made me think about it! :P ) Every night, I will be fine, no blocked nose, no nothing. As soon as my head hits the pillow, BAM, blocked nostril. Then I get the "your breathing loud" or "your snoring, can't you breathe through your nose!" lol. Then in the mornings after I get up and have breakfast, its gone again. happens 5/7 nights of the week, always at random. gives me the shits!
  3. Ive done it once or twice with race cars, big chain, heavy set tree, and back/drive the car away in the direction needed. Then get the porta-power in there (or simply a bottle jack if you need to) and press and bang till you get it straight enough. I wouldnt exactly trust that sort of repair in a road car though.
  4. I was actually commenting on the fact that people wanted to see the torana..... if anyone is interested (not that I should really have to explain it) check out the thread on twincam, people were asking If i was bringing it before the cruise and when we were leaving I got hit up to bring it on the Bathurst run, I didnt way it to aggravate anyone, I was simply making a comment about the fact that we met a nice bunch of people who like cars in general. anyway, my OMG is that our floors got sanded in our new house yesterday! the bloke is going back today to urethane them. oughta look grouse! We start moving stuff in on the weekend. its nerve racking, but its bloody exciting at the same time!
  5. ^ wheel bearings were the first thing that hit me when she said "howling" Jack the car up, grab the wheel on either side and see how much play it has (as in if the wheel rocks when you put pressure on the sides) If the caliper was keeping the pads engaged on the disk, then when you grabbed the brakes it would more then likely pull to one side. In the absense of any symptoms other then the howling noise, Id almost put money on it being the wheel bearings :P
  6. Also had an R33, 2 silvias a suzuki chino turbo (spelling?) and an AE112. So all in all a pretty good day! only had a few incidents, one bloke had a wheel bearing seize, another blew a HG on his 20 valve (smokescreeeeeeen!) and the cops turned up at one stage. But other then that, no dramas! And for a corolla based cruise, everyone wanted to know why I didnt bring the torana!
  7. water pump :P Alot easier to fart about with out of the car (not overly hard in the car, but you get the drift) and corroded impellers etc arent much fun. Id definitely be pulling the sump off for a good clean out, also a good indication of anything floating around inside the motor (ie, metal shavings etc) Id be putting new gaskets or atleast removing and re-sealing anything that could be a pain in the bum later if it leaks. (coolant lines, oil pressure sensor etc) ooooh! as for turning photos around, If you use photobucket, their online editor now lets you turn them around online, its one click to open the editor with your photo, and one click to rotate, then one more to save it. (i usually use photoshop, but this is a quick online way to do it!)
  8. spent a couple hours yesterday working on the street stocker (speedway car) with my old man. Managed to get the engine and box all in (using VK K frame to fit the straight 6 into a VS calais eneine bay) I just wish we had the hoist back up and running! doing things on the ground is hard(er) work! Went on a twincam.org cruise on the weekend (AE9X chassis) and Karlies corolla- We had a wicked day and some really fun driving roads too! Bonus points were that the corolla didnt play up all day, drove like a dream and for one of the only NA 16 valves, definitely held its own!
  9. why is your cat shaved? hahaha. Looks like it took its revenge on your bottom stairs carpet!
  10. sure its not a trick, sounds a bit suspect! Maybe they are going to gag and bag you in the back of a van and ring your hubby with a ransom? either that or your hubby just wanted your ticket for his mate! haha. naaah, have fun. :y:
  11. yup, anywhere in dubbo isnt the best place to be sleeping exposed! Some parts (yes, I'm going to say it) the ones where there are high aboriginal populations (which is most of dubbo these days) are very very bad, often to the point where you don't go out after dark in anything smaller then a group of 5 or 6, and never alone. We go Karting at dubbo everynow and then, its a real shame that it has gotten bad :D
  12. Id be going for a thicker oil, and IMO steer clear of castrol oils. 100,000kms on the motor and its chewing through oil, ouch. Did you rebuild it? Was it bored or just given a light hone? what else was done? Id say its definitely a problem internally if Its using that much oil and hasnt before (under the same circumstances ie.brand/weight of oil etc) and Mystik, I had lots of people (usually honkeys in noisy riced up cars) tell me "Hey man, your cars blowing out tonnes of stuff" I just replied with "I know" and a big smile. thing was like a diesel (smoke wise) on takeoffs! lol.
  13. hahaha, gotta love calls with "the car is doing this, what do I do? what is it? whats that thing called again" One of my very good friends is hopeless with cars, she had a $1000 dollar lancer with a worn rotator stalk switch (headlights) that used to vibrate its way around and turn the lights on. I used to get calls all the time from her saying she had a flat battery and wondering if I could go help (her dad isnt the most car orientated person either!) She never knew it was a flat battery, no matter how often I told her. as a bonus, she would pull the dipstick out and anything else she knew about, and then not put it back properly so Id get it started and it would spray oil everywhere, or something stupid like that. Was always a laugh and I still get to poke fun at her for it (has a new car now with less problems, and a factory warranty!) WGMG is coming to work on a Thursday and feeling like its friday. Always makes the day go slow and tomorrow never seems to come.
  14. switch on the throttle body wouldnt work too well though, people get off the throttle while driving along too :D But I don't understand why you would want a button to do what your left (or right...) foot does anyway (hold the brake) The traction control and power/economy buttons are next to the auto shifter in the commodores too, you just learn to get to them without looking Things have gotten better with the korean built cars (I still wouldnt own one) a side note for the koreans, Daewoo own Bobcat as of about 6 months ago. and if you ever see anything branded "doosan" (forklifts, excavators etc) then that is all daewoo too. All the crown forklifts are Doosan in disguise aswell. They are doing alot better then 5-10 years ago in terms of quality though. my OMG is that the traffic was sooo freaking bad yesterday. the 45minute trip home turned into a bloody 1.5hour epic!
  15. I was running penrite 40/70 and still going through a litre every 200kays! very burnt valve brought it down in the end.
  16. Rings and/or valve stem seals.
  17. some people are just sick. The shit (literally) you see in public bathrooms is so dam wrong People Ive known who worked for the council, or currently work for maintenance at maccas, always say the women are the dirtiest. some of the stuff that happens is absolutely herrendous.
  18. first and foremost, in most states you wont get a SBC corolla legally road registered. If you were to do it on the bodge (for a burnout car etc) and you had alot of spare parts, it wouldnt cost too much. but to pull it off nicely (and safely) you are looking at alot of dollars. Diff, suspension, transmission, the 350 itself, modifications to engine bay, front end (strengthening), steering modifications, custom extractors, trans tunnel modifications, chassis bracing, custom tailshaft etc etc. It would be a pretty big project unless you can do alot of it yourself. EZE10s performance has a V8 corolla burnout car that throws a mean skid, but obviously they can do alot inhouse and that reduces the cost (plus its a driving advertisement)
  19. Cops more than likely would have put it as a low priority item and taken 3-5 hours to come out (if they did at all) then ontop of that, If they did come out and he was there, Lexxi and her friends would have to give statements etc etc. The guy would probably be locked up overnight for drunk and disorderly, and let out the next day (meaning he would be on the lookout for them next time and may actually do something worse to them) just isnt worth the while to call the coppers over little things these days.
  20. yup, was in europe somewhere I think and looks more like a fox then skippy.
  21. I might have just confused myself. can't say I've ever really bothered to look at the parcel shelf! how are the plod down there in SA? bad? I liked the beige interior more than the white, but white looks pretty good too. After a while those spray on dyes tend to "rub" off too (found that from experience) but it sound slike you are going to get it fully trimmed anyway!
  22. Straight after I had my extractors HPC coated, I was seeing how much of a difference it made, so after about halfan hour of spirited driving, thought WOW even at about 5mm away from them they don't radiate much heat. Next minute I moved, smacked the back of my hand against them and quickly removed about 4 layers of skin from the whole hand. Hurt like hell. naaaah probably not, I only usually browse at work! so far today has been a good day, I'm even more scared now!
  23. This is a wicked little 20! love it. Nice photos too. The rear parcel shelf thing is interesting, not something you see people doing everyday, but aslong as you don't get pulled over, you shouldnt have too much trouble!
  24. air conditioner compressor oil should be fine to use aswell. The holden stuff is under $50 for a bottle from memory.
  25. Got out of bed about half hour late thismorning, with the usual "shit shit shit we both went back to sleep" Ended up getting to work 15 minutes early! I didnt really sit on a much higher speed on the freeway, so it was just pure luck! I'm just waiting for friday the 13th to bite my ass and give me shit luck later on!
