  1. I thought this thread was going to be about the fact they are going to build a FWD hatchback, based off the mini platform (something they said they would never do) interesting concept car though, would scare the shit out of you when it came up behind you, definitely looks like satans weekender! haha
  2. do you mind if I steal a few pictures to post on a torana forum? I know a few people who would love to see this.
  3. redline (used to be hardinams) make these type- http://www.fbiaustralia.com.au/shop.php/ra...dcoe/p_223.html Ive got some 80mm ones on the webers in the torana, but I'm swapping to triple oval cleaners for a bit more filtering
  4. yup, neighbours on one side have one, they have 5 screaming shit-lets to go in the thing too....
  5. 3 weeks of 12am-2am bed times with 6am risings for work, going to work all day, driving the hour home, and going straight back into the shed to work until bed time again...
  6. relax dude! it was a joke! Id have to buy one with built in razor blades so I could off myself as I got in. :P
  7. ^ Ive got an old school-chair with the legs cut down for that
  8. I wasnt saying that everyone couldnt afford what they post, it was more just a bit of an observation about those who I know are under 20 or around that age and posting some pretty pricey cars or cars that would have to be imported/complied etc. with a fair bit of money spent on upkeep or parts if they break down. Not saying everyone is like that, but yeah, just curious as to the thought process. Our house's majority share holder is Westpac bank, We own all our cars (2 dailies, 1 weekended, 1 hillclimb car that I split down the middle with my old man, 1 smashed LC GTR that is a money making venture and a project ute) but if something happened now and we ended up deciding to have kids, Id be rooted financially and wouldnt be able to afford the cars we have, let alone the purchase price and insurance on something fancy. anyway, I'm ruining a hypothetical thread with my reality hey. Why has no one mentioned a Kia people mover?
  9. I think they wouldnt mind, they put so much bog into the things most of the time anyway!
  10. I'm going to say that 99% of "enthusiasts" have taken their cars to a quite backstreet and given it a caining (whether it was simply trying out new bits or showing a mate something) Rich Rolla, I had a set of extractors HPC coated, whacked em on, and was thinking, "wow I can't feel any heat from the surface" so I put my hand closer stil no heat so went closer again still no heat Then I touched the f@$king things! Skin went white instantly, didnt even hurt (burnt the nerves) and left a bunch of skin stuck to my newly coated extractors! lucky it was only the back of my fingers, and I didnt try it with my palm!
  11. Just a question, How many of you actually think you will be able to afford the cars you want to have, plus having kids and paying bills with one wage? (because your Wife is off having and caring for the baby) Not having a dig, just actually wondering if anyone thought about that part of it? As for the LPG comment, some people need to get out into the automotive world a bit more. You can make VERY good power with gas if you do things properly. Duel fuel is a compromise and is always going to perform worse, but an engine setup to run gas only can make more power then the equivelant petrol engine. I'm throwing the ute on gas, will be slapping together a mild 308 with a custom ground cam, 10:1 compression and probably a gas reasearch carby or two, will still be nice and economical for cruising around and go well too. Later model cars its a bit harder then that, but still easy enough with GI (gas injection)
  12. Someone mentioned they were thinking about whacking a blower on their commdore, Look into the raptor kits, they are around the 2k mark, but on an unopened engine they were pulling more the 200rwkw on a safe tune with no IC. There was a bloke at WSID a month or so back with a twin turbo ecotech in his Datsun ute (only littleish turbos). Massive lack of traction and was still managing low 11s or 10s from memory. The new DI V6 in the next gen of VEs has 225kW at the fly from factory, around the same as the original LS1 engines (VT and VX) might make for some interesting conversions.
  13. I don't doubt that it would offer some form of protection (as you say, something is better then nothing) but just found the design a bit strange.
  14. is the roll cage for show only? The angles in the front bars (where it comes down the A pillar) don't look too crash hot, any reason you chose to have it made that way? got any more pictures of the interior/roll bar/taxi bar setup??
  15. commodore sedan or wagon. Cheap parts, easy to work on, reliable enough and roomy. (plus I'm a holden fan, so its kind of a given) I think Karlie has her heart set on a silver VE SS wagon (talked her away from black) and in a few years when we plan to have midgets, they will have come down in price enough to make them a good buy. The HX ute will then get rebuilt as a fun car, and I'll just keep chugging along in the VT as a daily. (which would also be fine to take kids in)
  16. :jamie: thats so random. why does it remind you of teeth? I usually associate white with teeth, but maybe I don't know enough heavy smokers! Who needs carpet anyway! its coming to the warmer months, carpet is only good for winter (actually a hot floorpan might not be too good for your feet) If the carpet is just dirty, throw it in the washing machine. It sounds dodgy (well it is) but it works really well (suprisingly) Either that or a couple cans of upholstery cleaner and a Gerni. (thats how I did my old VK carpet) Tears in the carpet can be covered up by carmats :hmm:

love the wipers flicking up towards the end of the second (or third) run!
  18. Throw a small "hot-dog" (resonator) in there, you should be able to fit one of the smaller (from memory 8 inch long) resonators in with the two mufflers. It should help stop the probelms you have described. Also, straight through mufflers arent a turbo car thing, they are simply a performance thing. A straight through chamberless muffler is always going to flow better then a chambered muffler and its usually the easiest way to get a louder note from any car (90% of their use) Most aftermarket systems (as in off the shelf) will run straight through mufflers. But yeah throw a stubby hotdog in there wherever you have room and it should be fine.
  19. well now that you mention it, dropped on their guts, hectick paint jobs and big chrome wheels.... (ie. "fully sicked" for want of a better term) they pretty much are the new gemis
  20. Awesome mate! bet you were like a 5 year old on red cordial waiting to get him home. Hope everything is smooth sailing from here on in. What was his ride home in? make model etc, all is important! haha
  21. no, from a legal perspective, whoever is driving the car at the time of the fine is responsible. YES he will be in a bit of trouble for not filing the notice of disposal (the slip attached to the rego papers that you submit when selling a car) Have you got a copy of the receipt you gave the buyer? did you even make a receipt? Do you know the guy you sold it to?
  22. The safety of it depends on the mounting of the wheel. Most late model cars a "hub centric" and they are supposed to take the load of the vehicle and corner load etc on the centralised wheel hub. Older model cars (like toranas, monaros, probably early corollas) are designed to take the wheel load on the studs. LJ XU1s were fitted with spacers from factory, I was sure some model skylines were too.
  23. sign a statutory declaration stating you no longer had ownership of the vehicle at the time of the fine. courts take stat decs pretty seriously.
  24. agreed on the double edged sword aspect. WGMG- uni lectures... but having the laptop makes it a wee bit more bearable!
  25. So what ever happened to being considerate of other road users? This is the number one cause of road rage and general crap that goes on, people don't give a shit about those around them on the roads and they drive accordingly. (yes this goes for the tossers weaving in and out of traffic aswell) How many times have you had someone not thank you for letting them into a gap or merging across when two lanes merge? in some cases it is also their "right" but its still common courtesy to wave or thank, but alot of people act like its their god given right to drive however they feel regardless of how it affects other road users (ie. the bloke going slow!)
