  1. hey there, 7k engines arent a very big revver due to the large stroke of the engine, I'm guessing 6.5-7 grand max. with your power, all depends on what you do and cam profile, my 4k just spun 75 horsepower at the rear tyres with big cam and twin webbers and extractors, thats it, and it will rev to 8300rpm  so it may give you a 30-35% increase in power with said modifications. hope this helps
  2. yeah ive got solex's on a redline manifold, they are all the same pattern, on mine i had to file a chunk out of the manifold for the link, but my linkages are 180 degrees to yours, with the tounge and groove closer to the manifold, and the ball joint closer to the filters, may be as simple qas swapping them over.
  3. hey there, if you are goin to go and add a thermo fan to your radiator, you may as well just take off the old fan belt driven fan to free up sum horse power, if you are going to add a 130 odd amp alternator this will easily drive a massive thermo fan. you can run both but the thermo would just be a restriction the belt fan has to suck past. As for carbies, other brands include solex, which i run, very good in my opinion and cheaper, as well as dellortos, any carbies you get, will probly need rebuilding, about $250 aust dollars these days. and for camshafts, alot of people will send there old one away and get it reground to a new profile, ive had one for years, still goes very hard. hope this helps, thanks dylan
  4. hey guys, just thought id throw my consumption in, my ke70 will go through its full tank in about 260k's, running full unchoked twin 40mm sidies but, i don't care, soooooooooooooo much fun. also one day i went through 10litres in 8 stages of khanacross, all about 1.2k's each. sitting on 8000rpm don't help the cause :P. Also my worked evo 8 lancer will bring home 600ks on a full tank, bout 1/2 hi-way and 1/2 :)
  5. thanks teddy, may just go buy it after hearing that, hahaha :)
  6. hey guys, i alwyas been a ke70 man, but i need a cheap reliable car for work, with a bit more room than a ke70. I'm looking at an st141 granny spec, and i was wondering what people have thought about this model, is it reliable, cheap to run, what things to look out for, common problems. its an auto with the 2s engine. any info people have got would be greatly appreciated, thanks
  7. yes you can you the standard factory fuel pump, i have been on my rolla for 3 years, no problems so far, and i have got massive cam and ported head and bigger valves and extractors.
  8. hey, um the screws in a ke70 are countersunk selftapers from memory, about 15mm long, and would be 8gauge or 6gauge. may help......
  9. hey cameron, there is also a shop in newcastle called all-carb, he got me some new seal kits, but had to solder up and re-drill my carbies. its in sandgate on wallsend rd i think, the number is 02 4968 0088, hes really good.
  10. my ke70 rally car is running 4k with twin solexs, and is pumping out 82hp at the wheels. runs very well, and yes parts are difficult to get, but i still got seal kits, but had to solder up and re-drill jets. stay in tune really well, on par with dellortos in my opinion. yes su's are very underated, so many top class minis are running these.
  11. what are you talking about, the suzuki 13b engine? its definately not 14 valves........ a little more info would be good mate!
  12. yeah sorry, she never came home to get after pics, is now at a mates who has endless monies, so she might come back
  13. Thought id start a new topic about corollas that have served us well but have died in our very own arms. Here is my faithful old ke70 pano, also known as kevin 07, bought her for $500, served me 2 and a half years, gave her a respray and fresher 4k, had over 500,000 k's on the chassis, and she was brought down by two kangaroos within 3 weeks of each other on the way to work, then the head gasket blew 2 days later. Holds the record for taking 630 kgs of concrete to the local tip in one trip. the toughest ke70 i have ever owned. R.I.P kevin07
  14. I'm just giving him the information from underneath the bonnet of a stock standard ke70 4k engine, STOCK. its written on the label.
  15. just remember to allow funds for a reground camshaft and new valve springs, or it will be a waste of time,
  16. i belieive timing on a 4k is 8 degrees defore top dead center, and the points and plug gaps are .8 of a millimeter, 10 degrees will probly work but 15 on a standerd 4k definately will not. Just to rule it out, jack up the back of the car and put it in neutral with handbrake off, your brakes cylinders might be slow to release, sounds stupid but its happened to my ke70 on one side, you could do the front as well.
  17. hey there, they will bolt straight on, all the same mounting bolts only difference between a ke70 slanty and ae71 is drivetrain and a few small bits. cheers dylan
  18. hey there, I'm pretty sure they will be ok if they are ADR approved, and i know in nsw you need to get them engineered. you may have to aswell, they just check the mounting points to make sure they are safe.
  19. i have a 4ku, actually 3 of them, compression is almost the same as a normal 4kc, BUT, as they have dished pistons, the heads on these motors are already alot shallower, (as in they are already shaved compared to a 4kc head). good luck shaving these heads as the valve seats are almost already level with the head surface. mine are any ways, don't know if mine have been shaved, I'm guessing not. If you want a high comp 4k get a 4ku head and put it on a 4kc with a thickish copper head gasket, standard head gasket gave me little valve marks in my flat top pistons haha. 4ku also have an extra 20hp from the factory. mine all came out of ke70 panel vans.
  20. go a 50 profile, more common and i had 205x50's on 15's and it didnt change the speedo reading
  21. your fuel consuption sounds a bit unrealistic, only a few new models can acheive that. my standard ke70 with rebuilt factory carby only gets 7.8l/100k's. If it is what you are saying, its probably not getting enough fuel, tune carby
  22. what type of rear suspension have you got leaf or coil. sometimes if the brackets holding the diff to the leafs can stretch and diff can move sideways, ive had this problem in my pano.
  23. are you sure its fuel, i would have thought fuel would just mix in with the oil, its not coolant is it
  24. sorry this is off topic but.... i congratulate him on actually doing a search and not starting a new thread. moderators are constantly asking people to search before they ask a question that has been asked 20 times. must be slowing sinking in.....
  25. if you want to make one, ke70 panel van doors are about 170mm longer, just cut out centre pillar, move back amount required, reweld. seen this done to commodores, falcons. alot of work and engineering required, you have to reinforce doors, back section. would probably end up a 20,000 dollar car before you even start modyfing it. would be alot easier to import a 2 door version, from probably NZ or thailand where they were available, for easily under 10g's.
