  1. there's no way id drive this car if it made close to 700hp, thats silly and down right stupid for a 1000kg street car. I think at the most i could get away with driving this on the street would be around 450 - 500hp atw. The way it is atm is good but it would be super freakin awsome with more :)
  2. So I took it to mercury motorsport dyno day and did a run to see what she was putting out. that was on about 12 - 13psi (boost tee playing up) on a 30 degree day, so not bad considering. there was also an evo 7 there that managed to pull 691 hp atw's on 43psi and wait for it . . . STOCK bottom end! Some inspiration for me :) I wish i had the cash to convert to e85 and a 35/40!
  3. this sounds like exactly the same problem i just went through! tried everything and no results. I figured it was the carby but i was wrong, i first fitted up a set of extractors before i swapped the carby with a weber and got rid of all the EGR equiptment on the 4k. I thought i might just start it and see by chance the problem was still there, so i started it went for a drive and no more problem! So id suggest ditching all the egr shit and block off all the ports and see how you go, or if you want to keep it take it all off and give it a good cleanout as mine was 99% blocked and it only had 130 xxx on the clock.
  4. thanks guys, feels so good to be able to pull it up in the garage and not put it on stands and fix it (or try to). I agree trev, alot of the time it doesnt even sound like a 4g63 especially in the video but in the car if you listen close enough you'd be able to pick it. I think its got alot to do with the exhaust, the way it was made. It may get changed later on.
  5. Brake's finally sorted and i have now had a chance to have a half decent drive of this thing with NO clunks or concerning noises coming from the car. Without a doubt or exaggeration i would have to say this is the most FUN i have ever had in a car! It is everything its supposed to be which is built to be tough as nails, quick, awsome handling and is good enough on the juice to drive everyday. To drive this thing is pure bliss, the satisfaction from building 100% of this car is a great feeling. I don't wanna sound like I'm ego tripping or nothing but f@$k I BUILD A GOOD CAR! shortened the struts last light and a vid of just a moderate acceleration. http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff297/Jordan1977/?action=view&current=Picture166.mp4 Just short of a lsd installation for skid vids
  6. the weber duckman was selling is back up for sale, check the thread, 2nd page

  7. hey mat e need that weber + kit and adaptor. can pick up tonight and may take them extractors off you too

  8. trev - sold it to someone who did strip it and he put the running gear back in a series 6 rx7
  9. would have to be my silvia with 13bt series 6 13b with gt45 turbo, twin plate, r154, BIG fuel setup. not too much of a fan of the silvia but for 10g for nearly 400hp i couldnt say no. no idea what the highest speed was because it never had a speedo, but i topped out 4th and all i remember was those light poles were hard to count!
  10. i had to take a little out of the sump to sit it lower than what it was going to be, could of got away without cutting. other than that just a case of making up mounts both block and x member.
  11. ive thought about this many times, an na v6 in a ke whatever would be some awsome fun. But a toyota v6 would be a fair amount of work to get in there and i wouldnt let a commy v6 go anywhere near any of my cars. I also realise there are a few toyota purist's out there but the cheapest way i can think putting a v6 into a ke70 with good results power wise would be a vg30de 300zx motor. There already a rwd engine, cheap and easy to come across and they pack a punch. I would love to do it one day but the chances of me ever getting around to it would be slim to none. Someone else do it!
  12. there isnt a hint of an intercooler behind the grill without it painted. I do plan to fix all the small dings and just a simple re-spray in gloss white. Might spray the wheels matt black aswell.
  13. all three
  14. standard ke70 crossmember. I'm using an evo engine because of originality i guess, i don't like doing conversions that have been done to death. Also because there is no better 2ltr 4cyl out there i believe. Evo 7 engine's have a factory metal head gasket, factory girdle, the cylinder heads can flow 1000hp on stock ports and the stock bottom end is good for 22psi.
  15. thought i might throw this up, its been 6 months in the build and is just about to get tuned. Mods are : evo 7 motor custom button clutch Bill hincher bellhousing R154 supra 5 speed 3.5" one piece tailshaft with solid uni's Hilux diff ems stinger 4424 front coilovers R33 front brakes MA70 supra rear brakes TD05 20G turbo with 3" cover 3" exhaust and a whole lot of custom shit to make it work! this is how you transport a motor!
  16. well lets see 800kg car and id like to know how much money was thrown into that motor? whats been done, what turbo, what boost etc etc. you could make an 18Rc do an 8 sec pass but at what cost. Id be looking at a 4g63 where you'd only be looking at spending half the $ to make it do what most other 2ltr 4cyl's can do to do a whatever time. ive also been researching a bit to find out a bit more about fj20's results in performance upgrades and history. I'm sure many people have their own view's and appinions but from what i could find was that they were a good motor for there time and that was a while ago, since then there have been some better options released.
  17. i recently looked at fj20det powrered gazelle on the weekend to see how it would fit my ke70. they are a chunky motor compared to most 2ltr 4cyl motors. I think the inlet manifold would have to be shortened, it was a front sump so that wouldnt be an issue and so other than that it would be a conversion just like any other one. Mounts, wiring, cooler + pipework, etc etc. I took the car for a drive it had a high flow turbo running 10psi microtech, intercooler and exhaust for mods and i found it rather slow for what it was. Personally id go for some sort of newer higher output motor.
  18. just wanting to know what springs people have been using and what the car looks like, if you could post up some pics that would be great! also what shocks to look into, experiences etc
  19. hey people's, i have recently purchased a 2 owner white ke70 and it is an auto. Before you mention the search button - yes i have tried. I am just wondering if there are any other options of diff ratio's available other than the 3.9 and 4.1??? Its just that i do a few k's on the highway every week for work and don't like the idea of it revving its tits off (about 4k @ 100kmph) I do have an almost complete manual conversion kit but i really cbf doing it because later down the track i may do a blacktop conversion and wouldnt want to change the pedal box setup twice from a cable to hydraulic clutch. any help would be appreciated thanks in advance . . . Jordo
