^ why won't he get parts from Australia?
-
Hi Chris, welcome to the addiction. I myself have been addicted for many years also. In Australia, the ke70 liftback you have was released here with a 1.8l 3tc motor and t50 5 spd gearbox, and was called a t-18. chassis code te72. They were reasonably plentiful over here, and parts are still somewhat available... many parts will be interchangable from other model corollas. what parts do you need immediately? all the best... -Dave

bumping this up. this is tonight. hope to see lots of people there. :D -
Hi guys, Ausrotary and Ozdat are organising a cruise to Marysville this weekend, sorry about the late notice. Rollaclubbers have been invited to join in, so spread the word please. I want to get as many rolla's there as possible. Lets show off some of our sweet Jap tin and have a good one. :D Starts in Bayswater BUNNINGS carpark (CANTERBURY RD) at 10am. leaving at 1030am sharp. PLEASE RESPECT THAT WE ARE VISITORS ON THEIR CRUISE. NO ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOUR OR HOONING PLEASE. Please post to let me know you are coming. any trouble finding the place, call me 0422 328 332. -Dave copied from Ausrotary: Before the 2009 bushfires, Marysville was a popular destination for car cruises. It is a beautiful location with some great photo opps, and the drive includes the Black Spur which is a great bit of road. Since the fires, redevelopment has been slow, and many tourists have stayed away because they didn’t want to get in the way. I contacted a Marysville community email address asking whether they would be keen for us to come to town and got a couple of very quick and enthusiastic replies which I have added to the end of this post. So who would be interested in a cruise from Bunnings in Bayswater via Coldstream on the way there and Yarra Glen on the way back, to Healesville for a fuel stop, then over the Black spur to Marysville? I would encourage you to buy lunch in town at the bakery or café, then meet at Gallipoli Park (the footy ground) for lunch. Christine Adams, the president of the local tourism association is keen to have a chat to us as a group about what has happened since the fires so it would be educational too. Spending money in the town is the best way to help the recovery process. NOTE - There is a footy match on at Gallipoli Park on Sunday. We may be asked for a gold coin donation for entry. Date is Sunday 27th March - my 8 year old son virtually begged me to organise this one. If you are interested let me know. Ausrotary Attending: 1. isszy 2. DrWankel 3. green200b 4. I'll be there. :) -
fresh plugs were installed as it was a racecar and owner had plenty of dough. this car was spluttering and was barely running. blowing out the needle and seat fixed the problem for this guy. much time would have been spent getting the mitures and balance right beforehand, so if your car has run previously with these carbs on, it might work. There is plenty of info on weber style carbs on the internet, one thing I read suggested that if your float level wasn't set properly, it won't matter what else you do, you won't get them running right, so checking float level is the most important. then I would buy a cheap carby balancing device, or make one as per the guide on the internet. once the carbs are balanced (they each are sucking the same amount of air, then you can worry about how much fuel is being fed to them. hopefully all this has been done properly before hand and you won't have to fiddle too much, because it can be labour intensive. but once you know what you're doing, you can make good power with these carbs. good luck. -dave

I witnessed a car with the same problem yesterday. easy fix, was dirty fuel jamming open the needle and seat, causing excess fuel. blew the needle and seat clean with mouth, reassemble, car ran perfectly. not saying that this will be your problem, but it's an easy thing to check. ;) all the best... -Dave

Hi Mitch, if you do buy a 67 to use parts from, I'd like to buy some bits off you that I need for mine. cheers. -Dave

i'll be at Phillip Island for the historics helping out a bloke named Hugh Gartley who is running a formula 2 with a fully worked 3k in it. I'll try to remember and take a copy of Australian Racing Car magaxine from 1969 which has a feature on a racing ke10 of Bob Simpson from back in the day. I'll be there friday to sunday. Regards. Dave 0422 328 332. feel free to call me if you can't find us.

Is this still happening? I'd be keen to do this run if not today another day... could you sms to confirm? I might not be online when you reply. cheers. dave 0422 328 332 -

Correct. This man speaketh truth. I have rebuilt a couple of these recently, exactly as said here. Personally I wouldn't bother with welding up. Silicone is less likely to leak than weld in my opinion. I have had no probs with mine and silicone. I wouldn't weld them simply because you can have them widened if you don't weld them. once they're welded, it takes a lot more dicking around to widen. all the best

The guys in the radrollas club in sydney seem to accommodate a broader range of tastes, would definetely try to let them know about it

sounds good. I'm in. got a google map for location??? I know of it, but for others...

you could try a mob called autocables.
-
bolt on guards for this model were nut and bolt originally with a phillips head, but you should be able to use allen key bolts and flange nuts.

um, oops. Sorry guys, I've been a bit slack this week with my shameless Tccav promotion, so I will put this post in to make up for it. Hope to see you all there! -Dave

I blew the head gasket on my AE71, and couldn't be farked replacing the water every time it blew out after driving about 15 kays, so I did the clever thing and removed the entire radiator and rad hoses, and drove it for 3 weeks to work and back. (about 4 kays each way) A radiator technician used to visit my work, and so i asked him hypothetically how long a car could run for without a radiator... he suggested about thirty seconds to a couple of minutes, so I showed him what i was driving, and he almost fell over. (I also drove it to Toyospares in Bayswater and asked the guys to have a look under the hood to see if they could tell me what radiator i should be using, that gave them a chuckle when they saw I was driving it without a radiator. they know how good Toyota motors are...)
