  1. Wait up, this kid is having a wah about a couple of hundred bucks for an engine and driveline? Seriously Tom your not serious? A) It aint your damn car, so A) f@$k off B) You seen how much my project is gonna cost me at a minimum? over 17,000 dollars. and I'm happy that the car wont be worth any where near half of that to people like you, dosent mean its worth more than that to me.   2. Yea ive done my fair share, there are some people who really know there shit, ill catch up to them one day, I'm only young. Funny thing is ive never driven a 4age, and have never seen one apart from the ones sitting in my garage :wink: Never seen a 20v in person neither :y: Travis.

JDM f@$king as yo :wink: Well I'm doing the 4age to the mods I just mentioned, its just with the ecu I'm not to sure about what I have and with the price of jdm ecus I can build my own megasquirt for a tiny bit more and get the experiance of tuning it etc, if I'm lucky I may be able to chuck the quad ITBs on it, but probably not as it will run like arse without a cam and ITBs id say. I will be doing engine, suspension, drifiting, paint, rego in roughly that order. I know it will get banged up but meh, that can happen to the most experianced drifters, its a risk I'm willing to take for a while. I was thinking with suspension, chuck in the struts i have already with king lows and newish shocks and massive commo brakes, get some shitters for the rear, chuck in the rose jointed lca's I have, and get an adjustable panhard rod, some quality adjustable sway bars, T series with open centre for about 1-2 weeks, then either lock it or lsd it etc. Then build some xt130 front end fully adjustable, with tokicos all round and 8 up front 6.5 rear, then that should cover me for suspension just about. And body work, getting new quad headlights, jdm chrome bumpers and fender mirrors and a madhouse lip. Easy as, should be great :y: Travis.
  4. OK New plan. I'm putting in the JDM 4age as this: Stock with a cut and shut manifold (need to make), stock rwd exhaust manifold, heavy duty clutch (need to get), toda 3.9kg flywheel, and possibly aftermarket ecu/I will figure out the stock ecu i have sitting around somewhere. Do all previously planned suspension modifications, get body smick and Jdm stylin. Then build the spare engine i have sitting on the garage floor :y: That way I can skid quicker and get the black car off the road, I mean seriously Its either do that or wait till ive built the 4age which would take the same amount of time, maybe 2 weeks shorter.   6. Yea man don't give up. Too many projects are becoming dropouts. Chin up, Just leave the car for a month and then work on it a little every week after around a month. Balence is all thats needed, your car wont miss you, nor will it get jealous, nor will it complain. Travis.
  7. You can lock them, and I'm fairly sure you lock a LT10s too. Just buy a fibreglass airbox off a sponser on ae86dc. And surge tank and fuel pump should be under the car or in engine bay. Might get away with it if you build a cover for it. MIGHT. Anyway heaps stoked for you man I'm coming down to Adelaide around christmas time so I definately want to see this beast, 91kw is a great number!! gotta be stoked with that 8/ Travis.
  8. You obviously know shit all about welding, do you realise how much heat goes into a welded area? Its called a heat affected zone for f@$ks sake, go ahead and fully weld up, no gaps the entire seams of your car, I f@$king dare you. I garuntee I have more experiance than most other kids my age with welding, and yes sheety's are taught how to weld, Yea cause a car is made of the same shit a boiler welds everyday right? its made of 30mm thick panels right? NO there made of the same size material as sheety's work with everyday. And I'm not a sheety, I'm doing both apprenticeships, I walk out next year with a trade in boiler making and a trade in sheet metal. So go suck on a fat-one. Your a dick.   10. Exactly Ryan, and I would be keeping them anyway as I'm doing my trade with my father. Update: I took out the tailshaft tonight so it would be easier too tow to panel beaters :lol: instead of clunking around :sob: :y: :P But I'm going to take it up tomorow morning, he better turn up this time 8/ So yea shes getting some progress I guess.   12. Alright. Well I took the car up to the panel beaters today to get the rust done etc etc. And he didnt show..... All day..... So I had to kart the car back to the workshop, now I wont be able to take it back to him till thursday.... Ahh well you get that I guess. Today I was polishing cam covers and finishing off the ITB Intake manifold, unfortunately the power cut out.... So it was only a very mild day for progress.... No pictures. Travis.
  13. Darn, I remember now, I meant the bigport is older and rarer yes? :yes: Sorry, I wouldnt want to turbo a 4age of any kind unless i was running some form of aftermarket management. But thats my personal preferance anyway.

  15. Alright, this is what i amde this weekend. Alot of hours went into building this. Around 12 hours. And here it is polished up: It is made from 5mm plate and 20mm SOLID aluminium bar, this is by far stronger and more sold than anything you can buy off the shelf, and possibly lighter too. Yuo can also see in the photos that I test fitted the intake I modify'd to RWD, works a treat, fits under the bonnet really nicely :yes: And yes I put the 4age in it, but don't get your hopes it I already took it back out. Tomorow this car goes in to get ALL rust removed, I'm expecting a bill of around the 1000 dollar mark, but the guy I'm getting to do it does a supurb job. Next weekend I will most likely be either making the rest of the manifold for the ITB's or will be making braces for under the front fenders. Cheers. Travis.
  16. How about a mechanical sender out of an rb20/25 box (forget which on)? Would be easier and I forget which one it is but it fits in the sr20 box and works on a normal mechanical speedo, ie stock :yes: Cheers. Travis.

  18. Yes but I'm pretty sure a t18 t50 wont bolt onto a 4a. Different amount of splines. However, can't you just take the speedo gear out of the t50 box and put it in the ae71 t50? Travis.
  19. What sized exhaust? Meh I have 2, one daily one project, and I think I will always have one project car and one daily. Next project after the Beams 5sgte in my ae71 will be a Chrysler Valient VJ Regal Hardtop (2 door) with a nice big Hemi and Dodge Charger front end. Travis.

  24. Map version has lower compression 8.0:1 later afm has 8.5:1? or similar, its also older and rarer and most likely more expensive as I'm pretty sure its import only I think. Travis.
  25. Its an Origin Lab kit on my black car, personally ive grown out of that car. I'm now making one with a JDM style look for it. Sr20det would be better if you can easy engineer it and fit it easily. Its way lighter, easier to find as they came turbo from factory, a 4age didnt, cheap as chips, and great power can be had from them. I'm not a fan of the whole keep it Toyota and toyota only thing, do it right and make it perform, no matter what engine it is, so long as its puts down the times the numbers and suits the car enough, ie not a v8 corolla for a daily, its all good, you can even use an s13 crossmember I think, ive seen that done for a ca powered drift ke70 on ke70.com It will cost you a shipload more to do a 4agte in my opinion.
