And Who Said You Needed A 4 Wheel Drive?
SLO-030 replied to Clapped out's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
but they don't show the rest of the fotos where they get to the other side, leave the car, car rolls backwards and sinks in river. CHEERS Ryan -
Do ya have the dimensions for the BW spring locker i might maek one and use it if i swap the diff or see if some one wants to ba a ginny pig (<<dunno how its spelt). CHEERS Ryan

hey people, I'm interested aswel, I'm currently in a fitting and turning apprenticeship and would be keen to make one of these AND best of all i work at a spring makers so testing new springs would be very simple. Some one had a CAD drawring of one of theses in the LSD thread, if i can get a technical drawring (old skool) with all dimensions i could make one of these in my not so busy time in maybe a week or two. also is there any difference in what would be needed to fit one into a KE25 jap diff? Cheers Charls, yea i like the finished product, just a couple things need to be tidied up a bit (top passenger side). might do the fronts soon, got plently more of that material. i got 2.5 meter long section and its about 1.5meters wide. only needed 1ml ong section for the back so plenty for the fronts. but its my daily driver and i do stuff when i get time.keep lookin now and again for my changes and upgrades. hopefully puttin in the 4k either on the weekend or next week, only untill i setup the turbo on the 5k. fun times ahead CHEERS Ryan

yeah a guy died just a couple of weeks ago round the corner from my joint. was at an intersection were the road comes down a hill, levels out for the intersection and contiues down hill. he was flyin down the road, leveled out on the intersection and got air off the other side, hit the road, ran off the road and died instantly. he was coming home from getting his dog a t-bone. he was just 17 only a bit older than me so it is sorta a reality hit but he was alone and noone was makin him do it. the 'oil' you describe, could it possibly be the water vapor that the engine makes mixed with the carbon deposits? if it is running rich the exhaust system usually has a fair bit of carbon inside so it could be a possibility. CHEERS Ryan

I did the trim on the rear panels today. i left the pockets out as the backseat doesnt really get used and they'll end up being used as other peoples bins. Pics are as follows; Originals, with pockets and speakers hacked in. masonite i used. polyester wadding for behind the fabric. Black cotton farbric for the trim. CHEERS Ryan

howdy mate, Welcome to rollaclub. don't know too much bout the later model rolla/nova, but there are always people out there who do and may be willing to share their knowledge. CHEERS Ryan

you could leave the setup as is and just get a riser plate made up that goes between the turbo inlet and exhaust manifold so that the wastegate actuator can clear the dizzy. just watch out for the bonnet clearance. CHEERS Ryan

Hey charl, you said your were gonna do your headlining, wanna do mine seens how you did a sweet job of your panels? i did the same panels as you did today in the 25, havent cut the holes for the pockets, may do when i trim them, still crappy brown masonite colour:( will trim when i get something to trim them in. nice job. hello again. got up this morning to the sound of rain pourin down so i wondered what i could do while it rained. hopped in the rolla and started pulling out the rear inside trim and made some new ones as the originals had been butchered for 6" speakers. while i like my audio one of the previous owners had positioned the speakers right where the corner of the rear seat is  so the seat was pressing against the speaker. went down to home hardware and grabbed a 1200x900 sheet of 5mm masonite, (a 1200x900 sheet fits nicely into a ke25, JUST) traced the shape of the panels onot the masonite and cut them out with the jigsaw. took a bit of nip and tuck to get them to fit snuggly but got them both in, cut the holes for the trim clips and clipped it all back into place. havent yet put any coverings on the new panels or cut the holes for the reccesed area yet but when i get fabric or something to cover them in i might put the pockets in aswel. will take some after shots as i already have before shot but no in the procces pics, will upload some tomorrow. hey mate, Putting the 4k head on a 3k actually lowers the compression whereas putting a 3k head on a 4k will bump the comp up. pretty sure a 3k head on a 4k wouldnt need to run avgas and te comp should be good for daily use. If you want to raise the compression on a 3k or 4k motor a 5k head will raise compression but to the point u'll need to run avgas and it would most likely be too much compression and the engine mightnt last long:( for something that wont put the motor at any risk of letting go would br to get maybe 20thou taken off the head to raise comp on a 3k and for a 4k just put a standard 3k head on it  CHEERS Ryan

Hey charl, do u stil have those rear trims pout of the 25? doesnt matter if they're not fully together as long as the outside part that you see is still un-hacked up. CHEERS Ryan

Would love to come and see what a shitted 3k can do, but i'll be in perth that weekend. try make it to another. CHEERS Ryan

yea don't hide it too well that even u doont know where it is. my supervisor had a datto 1600 and put a switch for the leccy fuel pump down the side of the drivers seat, cut most of the acctuator for the swtich off so it was ony just visible even when you looked in the right spot. sold it to the dealership ans a few days later he got a call saying the car wouldnt start. turns out while cleaning it they knocked the switch to the off position and even the mechanics couldnt figure out the problem. so if done well a consealed switch will be a handy imobiliser. still wont stop theives from roll starting it:( CHEERS Ryan

nah sorry don't kno where to get white walls. but for now just mask up the old tyres and spray white walls onto them  CHEERS Ryan

I wasnt with the car when he went past but my mate was the one who he talked to reckoned when he took of he spun the wheels and almost bogged himself. but locked the hubs and off he went. on his way back past he had the balls to drive right up close and have a geez. so i yelled a few differnt names at him and he just drove off. probably couldnt use a winch if he tried. i think i killed off whatever was left of my clutch lol, so ordered a new one this arvo and will get a mates dad to give us a hand when i put the 4k in soon. yeah tried that, but anyone who knows the Moana beach its a bit of a bitch. The forby owner woulda pulled me out but he wanted $20 for it. which i only had a fiver on me. but to think of it i saved $20 getting people off the beach to help. i woulda bought them all a beer but they pissed off before the offer could be made. The KE25 has been saved from disaster once again. went down to Moana beach had some fun fangin thru the sand. long story short, got bogged, got out, got bogged after about 15m, tried to get out, got deeper into the sand, at thes point I'm not havin fun and the tides starting to come in it got bogged to the point the rear half of the floor pan, diff and spare wheel well were on the sand. tyres were free wheeling and the waters is no further than 2foot away:( some forby owner denied a tow. got soem guys off the beach and managed to push it out just as the water was about upto the wheels. and thats my story of how Boris escaped disaster once again.
