  1. don't stress, be observant checking mirrors etc and don't speed. Its pretty simple
  2. Start with a good wash and polish. Give it a service, oils, filters, plugs check brakes wipers etc, then get some lowered springs and wheels. :y:
  3. Car looks alright, as usual the red is fading but nothing a wash and good polish can't fix its just a pain keeping the shine up. What is the car going to be a daily runabout or something more?
  4. The one and only time i went there i found the injectors i was after for 150 bucks less than anywhere else, used my frieds account of course. i still agree with Trev though.
  5. Finished the car on monday got it all together ready to start etc, had it running for 10mins just to make sure it wouldnt overheat and as usual its pissing out oil from somewhere i resealed while the motor was out :jamie: I really have to stop working on my car after big nights. Anyway the car went off the the exhaust shop to get some work done and i got it towed back. So it was off with the x member both the sumps off, timing cover off to reseal it, i wasnt very happy at this time as something wasnt going right for me and i ended up denting the passenger door  need to buy a punching bag i think. Finally with everything resealed and put back together i let it sit overnight, i had my first day of work well only 5 hours but thats alot after 4 months off, came home filled all the fluids again and started her up and let it idle for 20mins, everything was peaches so i went for a little drive. Car is overfueling and i think the timing is out but i still managed to get 5psi :| Now its time to book in for a tune.
  6. i remember ringing a wrecker when i snapped the axles in mine, they wanted 185 bucks for a diff. I ended up getting one off here for $20 just had to pull it out myself. Keep your eyes on the For Sale section.
  7. Oh shit now the fun really begins :P What did the diff set you back if you don't mind me asking, before the work was done and out of what model is it?
  8. Looks nice, Any more progress since the last picture?
  9. Thats a fine looking car, How did the insurance justify writing that off if they still payed out 6.5 for it? The damage doesnt look bad at all.
  10. That's true although the car is red hot anyway, ill see how much attention it gets from the :( i can always spray it black later, Ive gotta stop going out so much i end up feeling sorry for myself the day after and miss out on alot of car time.
  11. I have my car booked in to get the dump pipe and some cooler piping made up on monday so i spent a little time getting it ready so it can be driving after. Tomorrow I'm going to bleed up the cooling system and let it warm up make sure it doesnt overheat. Then I'm going to book it in with Adam at JEM to get it tuned, can't wait to drive this thing again i forgot how much it sucks having a car off the road, especially when its your daily lol. Anyway a photo after a wash and polish, well deserved i think i left it for almost 4 months without one..
  12. Nice circle work, thing looks right at home. You should get a video up i bet it would sound mental.
  13. Couldn't of said it better.
  14. i had the same thing happen in my car, start by checking your fuses and relays before you try pulling the column apart. My headlight relay wasnt getting 12v couldnt figure out why so i piggy backed a 12v off the parkers relay with a fuse on the wire.
  15. Thats fine the car is already engineered with the seats. Just not for the computer so ill have to hide that.
  16. Finally went and bought myself a 4" grinder and a bench vice so things are a little easier to do by myself. Been out there again yesterday and today i spent a bit of time making up my seat brackets. I used some flat bar which i drilled and threaded, on one side it goes through the flatbar and into the seat itself as i wasn't able to fit the seat in the middle cause it fouled. It works out well as ive made a little more space in the middle of the car incase someone needs to ride in the back. All the bolts are high tensile and there is thread lock everywhere only drama was i made a few miscalculations and ended up drilling 2 extra holes. Thats what i get for drinking all day in the sun. Made up some brackets for the cooler and made it sit more flush so the front end fits on better. Just need to make up some brackets to the bottom of the cooler to take some weight off the radiator support. Tomorrow I'm going to cut the holes for the cooler piping then sort out the rest of the interior, after that it should be ready to get towed to the zorst shop to make the dump pipe and cooler piping. Might even get around to cleaning up the wiring one day.
  17. Its a XV20 by the looks of things. Crazy shit with so many cars around. This is pretty funny too http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=YVdcQqKKsho&...feature=related
  18. That could be a bad battery, load test will tell you that. Dirty connections or possibly a dying starter motor. also check the voltage drop as you are cranking the motor.
  19. sorry got my engines mixed up, i think its time for bed my brain isnt working well.
  20. wasnt this asked a few months ago? I'm sure there is a 2 or so pages on it. one motor runs a timing belt and one a chain also.
  21. I have seen this posted around a bit, not sure on how good it would be. Click Here On the other hand the GTIR ran ITBs though you would have to do some research if they would suit your application or even fit.
  22. Calam05 i don't know what flares you are talking about unless the last person did a home job. The fuel and temp gauge will be moved to where the original stereo used to sit along with an oil pressure gauge, I don't drive the car more than 150kms a week so i fill the tank to full once a week. Spent a little time yesterday and today just wiring the car back up and filling up the fluids, i had a huge new years and forgot the tailshaft, filled the gearbox with about 3l before i realised what was going on and ended up denting my rear quarter in a bit of rage :y: lucky i don't pay for any of my oils. Also managed to dummy up the cooler after a bit of cutting here and there still need to clean it up a little. Next week I'm going to mount the cooler with proper brackets, grab some cooler piping offcuts some silicon joiners and piece everything together. Here is a quick video, i was testing if the car would run with the bigger injectors, seems to idle fine although time will tell whether ill be able to drive anywhere, probably not a good idea with no exhaust.
  23. heaters are overrated, just quietly.
  24. Another update. Yesterday i found some time to swap over the injectors to the 555s i bought, very easy once the plenum was split in half. Also my mate Mitch had time to come around and help me finish the cross member off so I'm very happy its starting to take shape again. Drivers side finished The engine sits roughly 25mm lower than it did previously its roughly 35mm off the cross member but it was becoming a challenge to get it lower. Plenty of room on the passenger side to make up the dump pipe Have to grind a little more off so the gearbox doesnt hit Just a small bonnet jackin to finish my day off :) Thats it for now, I will get stuck into finishing the wiring and cleaning up all the small things after i recover from the new years partying.
  25. Love your work Matt, never afraid to cut things up. Looks like its going to be together before long.
