  1. Hiace is KING!!! i wanna see one drifting...
  2. Maybe not, but every race car needs a pit crew!!! I crew for my uncle's midget sprintcar during the speedway season, but he's thinking of selling it, so i might need another team soon...
  3. I'm SO in that!!! what sort of racing you got in mind???
  4. HeeeY!!! that sounds like a fun idea!!! i wonder if we would be allowed to have like a rollaclub.com stand at auto shows??? we could have a cake stall!!!
  5. Dude, find an engineer... Hunt down one who will agree with the conversion in theory... Before you talk to them, make sure you know what you're doing (or thinking of doing) with every aspect of the build, and make sure to give particular emphasis to safety... Brake upgrades, chassis stiffening, wheel size (wider for better traction) engine mounts etc... Give as much info as possible, and at least try and give them the impression you're not totally nuts, and have legitimate reason for wanting to give this a shot... Once you got one of these boys in your corner, getting it approved and street legal will be a whole stack easier... Remember too, the legislation is different for each state, so read up on it!!! The more you can demonstrate your knowledge of the ADR's and Modification Legislation to your state licencing body, the greater your chances will be... Another thing I've found that will help... Remember, the people you want to approve your modification are government workers... They'll appreicate it no end if you do three simple things... 1) Have a good attitude towards them... They know their position of power, so play up to that... show them what you've got in mind, and humbly ask what they see, in their infinite wisdom, you might have overlooked. 2) Make their job easy... When going in for the ol' compliance check, make sure everything is clean, make sure to be helpful... Pop the bonnet for them before they ask, make sure the engine isn't too hot (park around the corner and get a coffee while it cools down) so they can inspect your engine mounts without too much trouble, and DEFINATELY make sure all the necessary paperwork is completed and present!!! 3) PAY!!! as long as you are ready to hand over the folding without question, they'll be happy... Hand them the papers and the money at the same time, and they'll happily tick things off to make sure the money goes into the till asap. Might be easier looking at the non-turbo version too... Here in WA they have a formula for working out the compensated engine capacity for turbo engines and rotaries... not sure about other states... A 13B N/A engine here i think is rated as a 2.2L engine, and a 13B turbo, from memory is calculated to be equivelant to about 3L of N/A engine... :poke: But yeah, read up on it in your state's legislation.
  6. Try some 2 inch from the cat back... In theory, the turbo should be chopping the raspiness out of your exhaust note, so maybe check to see if all the exhaust fasteners are tight? Mine had one loose and that's where the rattle was coming from... Otherwise, have a look at something similar to what a Rexy has... In theory, you're wanting to make it hard as hell for anything to echo down your piping... lotsa turns and resonators, or just open it up, so it just ebbs out, instead of bouncing down the pipe at speed... (might be struggling to make sense... i should have slept early last night...) Plenty of thoseScoob boys upgrade to straight through exhausts, so could even a STI stocky would be plenty suitable to what you're running, and still look real nice poking out the back... As for mine, I've got a 3in inlet, 6in body, 5in tip sitting at home... I'll be running 2in from the turbo to the cat, then 3in from the cat back... It was originally on my brothers 96 civic, non turbo, and it was awesome, but did get a little raspy towards the 6500rpm mark. Turbo should compensate for that...
  7. I'm up for 4.5... longer the more chance i'll have to sober up for the drive home. lol. What's the headcount as it stands??? Definate for myself, Question mark Jo...
  8. I think we should take it apon ourselves to make sure we have rollaclub stickers on all our rides to let these guys know we are here and doin this... would be great to have these sort of cars in our fray. ESPECIALLY seeing as i am hoping to put together a T-18 turbo... lol
  9. *Steps up on soapbox* It's awful how society allows these people to continue with such blatant disregard for human life. Funny thing is, should anyone do it to them, oh! all hell would pay... I come from a small town where there is a definate need to 'create' entertainment, and in all honesty, we did drive around with bags full of tomatoes throwing them at people... BUT we threw them only at each other, and only in places where the aftermath was of no concern to anyone... One time, one of the guys threw a tomato out the window while we were outside the designated area... needless to say, he was berated heavily by all others involved and was not invited again... I am disappointed to hear of this recent occurence, as, for me, it seems the innocent and jovial nature of past generations has been transformed into viciousness and thuggery. The most annoying thing for me is this... I am building a custom turbo T-18 in the near future... Because of TOOLS IN FALCODORES I am going to have a hard time registering her, and likely get bothered by the boys in blue any time i drive her on the street, regardless of how thoughtful and careful I am behind the wheel. This situation will not change without unity in the modified and performance car scene, rejecting, reporting and publicly condemning this sort of behaviour. I hope we can all contribute to stamping out these sort of actions and attitudes.
  10. Funny thing is, the kettle water would probably have the same effect on facial expression as Beam. lol I should have both my rollas going, so i'll have to insist my girl drive one while i take the other. Oh, Where we looking at having this occasion???
  11. TED's good, but i might fork out for a bottle of Smirnoff for the hard drinkers. shall we say 'all chip in' or make it 'pot luck' and bring something to share?
  12. 24th sounds good to me just now. Pizza would be sweet. Ghost in the Shell is awesome too!!! sounds like a fun night all round. lol
  13. Can I suggest mid-year uni break??? I know my girl would love to come, but she's stressing big time until the end of exams... maybe the weekend of the 20th of June??? that's Curtin's timetable, so means my girl and Todd should be good... actually, might prove a good de-stress for them. lol
  14. YAY!!! What date you lookin at ?
  15. Hell yeah!!! I remember when a mate of mine got one with two months licence for a carton of coronas... I'm mad keen for it... might even be able to borrow my brother's projector if someone has a white wall... Is that just the movie, or anyone got some of the original anime too?!?!? I've only seen half an episode of the anime... I'm mad keen!
  16. If you have to ask how much it'd cost, the short answer is "too much" Like Snot says... work out what you want to do with it first...for example if you did want to have a fast blast down the quarter, and don't mind replacing engines every weekend, then turbo might be the way to go. can swap over all the bolt on stuff, and the engine only has to last 400m... If you are looking for a reliable streeter with a little extra for cheap, have a look at bolting up a 3K head to raise compression and run premium fuel and a cam grind. Keen for a street sleeping falcodore eater, and don't mind spending a bit, have a look at all the info there is relating to 4A engine swaps. The possibilities are endless... If you have the budget, and aren't planning on taking her on the street, have a look at OKO20's threads... THAT gives an idea at the upper limits of sanity with these cars... The long answer to the question on how much to turbo... Depends on how much you can do yourself... If you have to pay for someone else to do everything, it'll cost you twice as much as mine. Good to have friends and family who can weld etc... If you are able to do everything yourself, and manage to get good deals on parts, probably look at about: 5-600 for pistons (there are cheaper ones, but you want it to last right?) at least a couple of hundred for a single turbo from any of the twin setups... (2JZ, 1JZ, 7M...) and of the sequential setups, go with the smaller of the two... Fuel Injection??? - minimum of 1000 after computer, injectors, fuel rail, manifold, regulator, lines and pumps... Blow thru??? - I'm researching this right now, and apparently going with a big ol Holley will do good, but still cost you 2-300 for a decent carb, plus at least 300 for pump, regulator, lines and manifold. Exhaust and inlet, intercooler, piping etc shouldn't set you back much more than 700 for a half decent system. That's just the engine... If you keep it to a sensible boost (not much more than 9-10psi) the driveline should handle it half decently, depending on your driving... but you probably want an LSD right??? factor in another 500 at least... so all up, doing all the work yourself, without engineering, which you will need if you intend driving it on the street... bill comes to 2700 for injected setup, and 2400 for boosted carb... at least double that, and possibly triple if you have to pay for someone else to set it up... But hey, there are other guys here who are FAR more experienced with turbo setups than me... do a search and check out what they think...
  17. O M Goodness!!! I am so hijacking this thread right here... c'mon people!!! why aren't we wondering who from rollaclub put in an entry for TOP GEAR AUSTRALIA!!! Surely that is a more worthwhile cause, and quite likely to be a darn sight bit more interesting! I know I am at least hoping that Alexi from the Hot 4's crew is having a stab at it... Did anyone here put in an application??? I thought about it, and realised I am in no way qualified or skilled... Sure my ideas are quirky enough, but i'd be better on the production crew. lol Though, i MUST admit my rather severe distain for that guy... what's his name? No,. wait, don't tell me... he isn't important enough to know...
  18. If you are going to the effort of building a surround, simple option is to pressurise the whole carb... Can be done just through the inlet, but you'll have to pressurise the fuel bowl too, as well as sealing the carb body to hold all that pressure in... Easy way, just seal the whole lot, don't forget to foam fill float and boost reference the fuel regulator... probably don't need reminding, but hey, one of the few times i feel smart, so milking it for all it's worth. :POSTPICS!:
  19. Sherridan the KE20 Likes- She's sexy!!! the first two door i've ever owned!!! there will always be a place in my heart for her. BUT!!!- omg... 3K stock just doesn't do it!!! (going to fix that eventually... with a TURBO!) Tamara the TE72 Likes- Second gear wheel spin!!! and aftermarket support from the US... She's going to be a beast! HMMM...- She's a little square, and I am SOOO doin a round headlight conversion on her. Who thought square headlights might look cool???
  20. Hey, take your time... might end up with a semi completed T-18 Turbo too... longer you take, longer i have to work... lol But seriously, would have loved a few more to show...
  21. Bring that 3K with ya and i can hook you up with a KE20 once we put it in...
  22. Cruise was 4 strong, with only two rollas...
  23. Most states will require the breather to be run into the inlet (damn emissions...), but as it is passing through the separator/can, it shouldn't present too much problem... As an extra security, fab up a hat to sit on the breather, and run a pipe into the inlet from there... the filter will take out most of the particularly nasty stuff and stop it messing up your carb.
  24. Yeah, unneccessary, but FUN. Oh well, it's an idea
