  1. Save your pennies... the impression I, and I am sure many others here, are getting, you'll need some help with setting up any mod other than perhaps bling rims... Unless you've got some mates with skills in this area, I'd sugggest you'll end up having to spend at least half your budget on someone else doing the work? in this case, out of that 2.5 - 3 grand you might end up with a mild cam, set of extractors and a weber downdraught fitted and tuned, but not much else. You mentioned you have a mate who can help, which is handy... In that case, provided his skills are up to it, I'd suggest finding a 3K head and building it up... What that will mean is you can port and polish, match port and put in upgraded valve springs without touching your original engine. I'd look at either a 32/32 downdraught or a 40mm side draught weber and manifold, set of decent extractors and a full length exhaust. There's not much reason to pay over $2000 for all of that brand new. Then when you have it all set up and ready to go, pull the 4K head off and bolt the built 3K head on (it's a direct swap, one unbolts, the other bolts straight on.) at the same time, remove the camshaft and replace it with a lumpier cam. Have a talk to a cam specialist to see what type of cam grind would suit your driving style. Personally I prefer to drive low in the rev range while one of my good mates prefers to rev above 6000rpm... because of our different driving styles, we'd choose vastly different camshafts, so work out which one is best, judging from the way you drive your car as it is... There's no reason your camshaft should cost more than a few hundred, and even ask about getting a stock cam reground. With the left over money, you should have enough for a decent clutch to help with your launches... because K engines have NO torque, you'll need a clutch that will let you launch at about 4500, depending on where the power is in the rev range in the engine you build.
  2. Hmmm... Easiest way to get all the things you asked for, stick a twin turbo V8 into it?
  3. With an emphasis on the chicks going crazy...
  4. I just threw up a little... :)
  5. I'd advise recognising that dropping funds on the 4K when you're already planning to 4AGE it would be a waste. The amount it'd cost to get a 4K pumping enough to drift properwise could end up being the difference between a 4AGE and a 4AGTE in the future. I'd not worry about it, lock the diff up and practice in the wet until you're ready to do your engine swap...
  6. 3K bigport with twin 40 side draughts, lumpy cam, race clutch and 4 speed, 4 T50 boxes, 2 3T engines, 2 2T engines and about 4 2TG heads, not to mention 4 puck clutch unused, 3 core radiator and i think three crates of random parts, alternators, starter motors, dizzies and the like. steal at $500 when he originally wanted $1000 just for the 3K...
  7. Cut springs aren't legal, but I can lend some kings for the canary.
  8. Hmmm. could do, but isn't that the whole point of the tech section? :( T18 springs will fit best with the T18 strut, and yes, I do have them. Your choice of standard or low king springs and also have a set of lower control arms (remember how much camber mine had that time i rolled up at your place? well they are good for about 2 degrees less than it had then. should be 2-3 degree... Also got some falcon springs you might be keen on.
  9. Hey guys and girls. After much fun and excitement was had on the last cruise for those who came and drove, I'd love to have another one in the not too distant future. That not too distant future is the 20th of December, a Sunday and what'd hopefully be a wonderful day to take the rollas out for a run. I am thinking of a northerly meet point, how about Scarborough Beach? For the actual run, I've got more than a few ideas... We'll leave it up to you guys to decide. lol.
  10. Oh guys, I should let you all know... I'd love to have a Birthday Cruise in the second week of december... If everyone is up for it...
  11. Cheers guys. I'll still be kickin on strong, so don't hesitate to give me a buzz if you need a hand with anything, or any advice or even someone to bounce your latest crazy idea off... BTW, I picked up my 1MZ today... prepping to go into a TC Gemini coupe... yes, the madness hasn't been sedated.
  12. Ok all, here's the story... Bank approved, seller approved, everyone friggin approved... then mother in law (who happens to have the equivelant of my balls as a piece of paper, being mine and my wife's certificate of title for our house) decides we shouldn't be starting a business and certainly not a mechanical workshop and it's so risky and I should really just do exactly as she wants which is get a shitty day job and work to pay off houses while i build a real estate empire just as shes done while remaining too tight to have meaningless things like hobbies friends dreams. Anyways, in my traditional "F*CK YOU" attitude, I'll be postponing the workshop for as few months as necessary while I actively engage in other sources of funding (even though a mortgage would be so much easier.) and will be operating a little more modestly at first when it all does go down. I'm still available for bits and pieces, but I'm going to do a short stint in manufacturing for a few months while raising some funds. This is not the end, merely a postponement and regroup.
  13. Don't be sad Panda... Just means we'll be starting a little more modestly. It'll still happen, just take a bit longer. And means almost all my current projects are up for sale. Anyways, the T18 now looks fat and goes hard. See you all there!
  14. Changing over the lower control arms so I won't be running stupid camber anymore. less likely to get pulled over is always good. Aaanyways, the stop in on the northern run is changed. The deal for the business has officially fallen through... I'm looking at a few other options, but they are limited, and none of them point to securing the workshop I had my hopes set on... I'll fill everyone in as we go...
  15. Just go to Google maps and search for "Jackson Ave Bentley WA" It's the car park just below Jackson Ave on the map...
  16. That's when and where I'll be...
  17. Do you mean a meeting spot pre-cruise???
  18. BWAHAHAHA! I love it... i can imagine my mate in his well wikkid supacar WRX (the pod filter and turbo timer are good for 50 extra hp) pulling up beside this and just creaming himself when it launches and chops him to bits even before he's made it through the intersection. I think the strut towers might need some modification to fit a flat engine, as the biggest thing to get past is the width. they are exceptionally wide engines. Maybe it'd be possible into a 70, but I doubt a 10,20,30 or 50 would have enough room in them without channeling the towers a bit.
  19. MMMM. pretty! can't wait to see her in the flesh.
  20. Ummm... I got a plethora of rims, but, considering how ended up needing rims... feel free to borrow the stockies. and no, the stockies AREN'T the ones with the most dish and chrome... haha
  21. What a smart young man you are. Oh, remind me to grab that engine off you... I found a home for it. Cruise route will now be swinging past the workshop... I'm happy to introduce everyone to the new hang out. haha. I'll bring map of second half of cruise on the day. Oh, should we make it themed? have to in some way have your car/driver/passengers represent a "Halloween" theme?!? Pumpkin on the back seat, cobwebs around the windows, black cat hanging on for dear life in the back...
  22. I got I got!!! Baggus, your pm is replied to.
  23. Are you adjusting your timing with the use of a timing light??? If not, it'll just break things. Can borrow mine if you like. Other thing it might be (and I did this myself on the 3T) was when it backfired, it blew a little out of the carb gasket, making a nice little air leak which made it run like a mofo. I found with my carb, the timing needed to be wound on as far as it would go, and I've heard that webers do tend to require more advanced timing for some reason.
  24. Oh, Guys... I'll be scheduling another stop on the second leg. We can swing past the new workshop and get a sneak preview of things to come...
