It makes you wonder. I have about $15,000 in unpaid driving fines (yes $15000). Funny thing is the only accident i,ve ever been involoved in was when a wanker turned right from the left hand turning lane and drove under the side of my truck and that was 23years ago. I have never been booked for more than 20k's overand the last 6 were between 1 and 3 k's over :jamie:

We've put a 7k in our ke55 and are about to add twin su's and electronic ignition. With the 4 to 1 extractors and 2" sports system it has plenty of low down power. We will eventually add a blower but i wonder if the longer stroke of the motor is suited. A 4.2l rover motor is an option. Iam told they squeeze in and they are light

Back to the subject. The 7k we just got has 4 to 1 and i don't think our torque suffers. Craig sheared the tailshft nuts at low revs Thats enough torque for me. :)

Maybe i could get the motor cheaper than fixing the 5.6l

We had stuck with the plastic fan and shroud. Will put the thermo fan on tonight and put the 3 core higher up the list of parts when monies are avaliable. Pleased to know its a common problem. Makes trouble shooting a hell of a lot easier. Hope i haven't spoken to soon

Thanks guys. We had deffinately noticed the extra torque. With the over heating this might explain why there was a thermo in the other car. It wasn't working so we assumed it hadn't been needed ASS/U/ME need i say more

We have had a couple of problems since putting in the 7k and 5spd. The first one is last night Craig sheared the nuts off the tailshaft bolts. He swears he hasn't been loading it up. Has this happen to anyone else? The other problem is its started overheating. At first it took half an hour to get hot but over the week this has shortened to about 5 minutes. I won't get to see the car for a few days so any ideas would be apreciated.

Since Craig got his KE55 18 months ago we have made quite a few improvements. We've cut the rust out, replaced the rear wheel arches. Anew paint job. Put in a 7K motor, 5spd box, extractors with 2" system. New tyres, different rims MP3 player, 12 x 6 speakers, neons, roadworthied it and paid 2years rego. All for less than the price i was quoted for a head rebuild on my mercedes The bits and pieces needed to make a fun little car are so inexpensive as long as you put in the time to hunt for them and thats where half the fun is. Climbing over dirty old wrecks and finding that part you were looking for what a buzz :n:

Helped a female friend buy a corolla a couple of years ago. End up with a '92 hatch with only 27,000ks. What we found was good ones cost. Holden Apollo badges tended to bring the price down It just takes a lot of leg work. there were some good ones out there,but a lot of crap in between. Has anyone considered a turbo Hyabusa engine. In england they put them in minis and can get 400 ponies out of them. Obviously space is not a prob and anything can be engineered to match anything for a price.

There are pic in Sloths file even though he has knocked the corners off the paint work since photos were taken. he drives by touch ie; posts, tow trucks and numerous other things have touched him

Well done. Great to see another ke55 on the way to greatness. Those rust spot around the rear window can be a bitch. Started cleaning them up and ended up replacing half the boot rubber support

G'day I'm Bill. My son craig and i have been playing with his ke55. We're putting in a 7k and 5spd box next weekend. I currently live in Doveton

measured up the 4ye. it will fit technicaly but would require a lot of messing about. pretty much would need to be a bare shell build up. we will just look for a five speed for the moment :dance:

thanks for the info guys. we will have the tape measure out over the weekend.i know very little about rolla's, i'm currently restoring an 86 mercedes 560SEL. they're a little bit different. sloth's ke55 has been a gem. only $250 from a mates wreckers and the only thing it nedded for a rodie was rear brake cylinders. everything we do is done on the cheap so we may hit you with some funny questions.
