  1. Thanks guys  I had the afternoon off work toady cos i am sick.. No really, i am but i really wanted do do some more stuff to the rolla so i bought new things for it.. Cadence 300w RMS @4 ohm amp Kicker 6" 65w rms speakers Pioneer 12" 1000w sub (second hand) 8 gauge amp wire kit I also took the rolla to MR Muffler in dandy and got my 2" exhaust system fitted for 60 bucks, they had to modify it slightly becuase it used to fitted to a 4ac. I also fitted the boot out with new carpet, its a pretty quick job but looks a heck load better than the old wet mouldy carpet that was there before. And last but not least, i'm in the middle of making a 12" sealed sub box for the rolla. Its a fairly big one.. 2.8 cubic feet.
  2. Loving the road side repairs with sikaflex.. lol! sounds like everything else is going to plan, nice one
  3. Holy shit dude, you don't muck around.. ;P
  4. Nice sprinter and I'm digging the colour.. What ECU have you got to run the 272 deg cams? i was going to get 272 cam's for my bigport but found out i can only go up to 256 and anything larger i would need to upgrade the ecu.
  5. Cheers bud, I hate pulling out the dash too but its better than all the mucken around later. The best way to do it is just grab some "glad zip lock bags" and get a note pad. As you take off the drivers air vents, write it down and mark it as 1. Undo the little screws around the cluster and write 2 on the notepad and put the screws in the zip bag and write 2 on it. As you keep taking things off, write it down in detail and when it comes time to put it back together just follow the list back to 1 again. Thats how i changed my dash
  6. Nice progress dude  If you want to paint the car with the rubbers on the windscreen, i found a really cool trick so you don't get those ugly mask lines around the rubber. Just get some wipper snipper line and push it under the rubber just slightly. That way the rubber is raised up and you can get paint under it. When it comes time to finish, you pull the line out and the rubber sits back on top of the paint just like as if the rubber has been removed for painting :)
  7. I did 4ac to 4age and i had to change everything but yes, both looms look very similar. I just changed the Dash loom because i didn't want the headache of trying to figure out why stuff was not working and if one wire was wrong, it would have taken me ages to figure out. If you could get a 4agze engine working on a 4age dash loom then just change the 4ac loom to 4age one then do the convo.
  8. What made you change your mind about the 4age? Hey if you still got the hks cam gears.. Would you want to sell em to me?
  9. Here's some new pics of the car.. enjoy ;) This is a pic of its first drive after getting rego'd, sadly it didnt make it back home by itself :lolcry: Just a few shots at a local football ground And here's a few before and after shots
  10. Yep, and about time for some new pics i think too :) i'll upload some tomorrow I'm not too sure what i'm goign to do about the outside look as yet, I have a few idea's up my sleave.. I went for a cruise tonight on twincam.org Felt great to have a rolla to burn around in :) On the cruise i noticed a few oil drops from the engine, opened the hood and it seems to be leaking from behind the front cam covers :( I hope its not too serious but i'll take a closer look tomorrow Oh yeah and i opened 2 small clips on the air box and it gave the engine a wicked induction noise :jamie:
  11. Its been a while since an update so here it is.. (Captain obvious) So i got the RWC, went to vic roads, got it rego'd, put the plates on from the old seca (i like em :) ) Went for a first drive out to emerald, driving along then all of a sudden from the front end.. BANG!!!!! CRUNCH, click.. BANG!!! Stopped the car on the side, got out and saw a trail of little nuts and bolts scattered up the road, Bloody drive shaft went. Got a tow truck, went home, fixed it the next day. I had a really cheap dodgy socket set and couldn't tighten up the bolts cos the bits kept slipping. Bought a new socket set and all god now :) (yes go ahead and laugh) Other than that I installed the DVD touch screen unit from the seca put new carpet in the boot :jamie:
  12. I did the 4ac to 4age conversion just recently, I have very little mechanical knowledge but with a good mate (Barnes) to help with the tricky stuff and alot of info from rollaclub and Trev for all my wiring problems (thanks mate :)) it wasn't to bad  I did it the hard and expensive way and bought separate parts so all up i think it cost me about $1100 and countless trips to the wreckers :bash: I'd have to say the worst bit of it all was changing the fuel/brake lines, everything else took time but was pretty easy, just unbolt and bolt in.
  13. Cheers, the black box is still in the car but i don't need it because its part of the 4ac engine. just been too lazy to pull it out.. :( Everything is running sweet now, I got the car registered the other day :) Just the only thing is both thermo fans always run, it that normal? Even on a really cold morning, as soon as the ignition is switched on, the fans run flat out..
  14. I don't like it but then again how far can the bubble shape go, It used to be Box cars in the 30's, round cars in the 50's, 70/80's box again, round cars 94-10, maybe its going back to box again.. :D
  15. Nope, just unbolted the 6x 12mm nuts on each side. Its the same box that was in the old seca. Its been sitting outside for 1 year so maybe the seal dried up over time. It was leaking from the moment i bolted it in the car :) My mechanic said its a pretty easy job, just pry the old one out with a screw driver, grease and hammer the new one in in the same position the old one sat in Oh yeah, and thanks for the spark plug numbers. i got a new set of Iridium's to chuck in tomorrow :P
  16. Little update.. Done a few things but there not finished yet so i wont spoil the suprise until i have pics of them complete. I dropped the car off at the mechanics for a RWC test, early last week, came back tonight with only a few small things to fix.. Oil cooler line leaking, Rear seat belt, Front seat belt, Exhaust flange bolt broken drive shaft seal leaking from gearbox :) windscreen something in the lower control arm loose might be a few others i missed but i have to have all this done by thursday arvo (1.5 days) and still have to work full time so wish me luck guys.. :P Something else is on the way home from the mechanics, my car turned a few heads.. not sure if i really like it.. it can't walk the walk yet
  17. I now know why your called sleepercorty... hehe! Nice man :P
  18. Thats one nice daily, so whats the sunday car then? Haha Wow, mid 11's is pretty dam quick. Good luck :D
  19. I had the head go on my ea ford (as they always do) and my mechanic took out the sparks and water shot out of the hole, so to me it sounds like the heads gone but I'd prob listen to the guys, get a compression test and Gregory's manuals are really good. They show you pics of everything.. think of it as XXX hardcore porn for cars.. :D
  20. Thats so cool, wicked mate! :) How did you wire up the lights, do they turn on when you open the boot or do you have a separete switch? Did you use a relay?
  21. Nice idea, I'm in for sure and this time i will have a rolla on the cruise.. haha :) Jarrad, if you need a hand with anything, let me know and ill do what i can :)
  22. Well the engine would'nt rev over 3000rpm and no power at all. Would bearly make it up a hill. Checked the oil cap and it had milky oil inside. I later found out it was just condensation.
  23. I put about 32-34 psi on the falcon 205 65 R15. I only check it about every 6 months, sometimes its been as low as 22psi but thats because i was lazy. ;) On the rolla i was told to run about 40psi on my 195 50 R15 tires. Never actually checked them though, bought them brand new with mags and it was off 4 months later for a full restoration.
  24. Where did you get that from? I used pod filters in differnt cars for years and never had an issue. It would if you had it sitting on the exhuast manifold...
  25. Just read the whole thread, nice car. I've never seen one of those before ;) Too bad about all the rust, at least you have it under control now. Its good to see you didn't just bog over it like me.. haha  Your making good time with this considering you redone the engine, got the rust out and resprayed it. Quick and easy works for me too, still have to work like a dog though.. :o
