  1. I payed my mechanic to change the waterpump when the engine was still out of the car, he never touched the car really, just tested the car for the RWC. I fixed most things, well f@$ked them up more like it.. Lol. So take the hose off that goes to the thermostat and flush the water back into the heater tap? I'll give it a crack after the car cools down some more :blinks:
  2. I hope not :blinks: The old 4ac that I pulled out had a blown head gasket. One thing i'd like to ad is i can hear running water under the dash (ie heater core) its the same one that was from the 4ac. Do you recon that could have something to do with it? There is no leaks on the floor and i only hear the water when the engine started idle hunting
  3. Yeah, I thought maybe its the castor but its stiff when i am moving slow. I'll get a alignment done and see what they say. Thank you
  4. Hey, I had a idle hunting problem when i installed the 4age and fixed it by bleeding the cooling system. It just started hunting again a few days ago and got really bad tonight. The temp is up slightly. I tried to bleed it again. This is what I did and no luck :hmm: I parked the car on a hill with the front of the car facing up hill I opened the radiator when hot - all good I cut a coke bottle open and used it like a funnel I taped it to the opening of the radiator so there were no leaks I turned the heater on and started the engine.. The radiator filled the bottle up about half full with coolant, The car started to idle hunt 1000rpm to 2000rpm repeatedly I stood there and watched all the bubbles coming up.. I waited... And waited... 15 mins later, still waiting and seeing bubbles come up. The radiator would suck alot of water in then spit it back out with a few bubbles. How long do i have to keep doing this and why would it be hunting now? I didn't touch the cooling system and just the last 2 weeks is had to be toped with about 1 litre of water. I don't mind waiting around but its concerning me that there is no improvement after 15mins. I googled and couldn't find much to my problem. Some say to open the bleed valve but i don't know if 4ages have one. Should i have started the procedure when the engine was cold or is the way I done it ok? Or is it another problem alltogether?
  5. Thanks for the replies, the steering is very light when I'm cruising but that sound right about bump steer but i have not lowered the car yet.. It hasn't really had any maintenance since i owned it apart from the RWC and the mechanic said my left lower ball joint needs replacing cos it moves a little bit. I checked over it and managed to tighten it some more and he was then satisfied that it was ok. I'll get a wheel alignment done and see where it goes from there Edit: lower ball joint problem was found and tightened when it was getting the rwc. Double edit: All wheel nuts are tight, I went round with a breaker bar and double checked everything when one wheel almost came off a few weeks back
  6. I removed the whole front end and went to replace it with a twinky setup when it was off the road while doing the 4age change over but when i found out i had to change the steering as well I changed it all back to stock 4ac gear again. Maybe i buggered something up but just wondering what would make my steering like this. Maybe its just me as i haven't driven a manual steering car for nearly 7 years and forgot what its like to feel the road through the wheel but i don't ever recall have these problems when i drove the seca for 4 months or so a few years back
  7. Nope, The car was always manual steering.. A mate suggested it could be bad suspension but the suspension in my EL falcon is totally f@$ked and its steering is fine over bumps or puddles on the wet road.
  8. Wicked, Looks tops! I guess you "might" have enough power there to drop a skid..
  9. I guess sometimes you just have to let it go. I still can't let go of mine  I Guess its like a weight of your shoulders and now you can move onto something else. Not saying its a total waste. From all that hands on experience, you can now go for something bigger and better and know what your in for. :hmm: I can't wait to see what you got in store :hmm:
  10. G'day  I have a few problems with my ae82 sedan with the steering. I chucked a 4age in my car and now i have really bad torque steer, I don't have power steering but i can sorta manage to control the torque steer but I have another problem... When ever I go over a dip in the road or a small bump the steering seems to have a life of its own and wants to either go left or right. What was really scary was the other night, it was a really wet dark road and pissing down rain (first time i drove in the rain with the sedan). As I'm driving along, every time i hit a small puddle the car wanted to turn. It took all my effort just to keep the car in a straight line. At one time it was so bad I had the steering wheel turned to 10o'clock when the car was going straight. Funny thing is i never have this problem in the dry. The steering is not loose and drives fine until I eather hit a dip in the road or drive in the wet so what could be wrong with my car? :hmm:
  11. Is it really important when the seller says PM replied? . I can understand a possible buyer saying "PM sent" but does the seller have to say "PM replied" on the thread, Its pretty obvious, just seems like a free bump.
  12. How about going with the ae71 turbo, that project was looking good?
  13. Wheel spinning is fine when I'm going straight but i have to stop spinning when i get to a corner. I'v got some other car problems that made my night scary but i;ll say it somewhere else otherwise this thread change topic
  14. I'm only saying it becuase the corolla is the only Fwd car ive had and since driving it in the wet the other day, its just plain scary. If i had a rwd, i'd be in heaven :jamie:
  15. GO the turbo ke30, Rwd is way more fun! You've got enough 4ages to point a stick at.. :jamie: so give yourself a bit of a challenge and get the 30
  16. You need to get a different throttle body that faces the front and a t50 gearbox. its harder to drop in a ke70 because the engine mounts are different. A ae71 has the mounts you need because it has a 4ac engine in it. There is Loads and loads of info on here. Just have a good look around and have a look in the rides thread also, heaps of people have chucked 4ages in a k70. :jamie:
  17. :jamie: ok, at least we know what sort of ECU it is now, and its not matching a ae86 ecu so it's NOT a ae86 jdm ecu. If this ae92 jdm is "more" powerful, It should still have given abit more overall power, I guess it has got a bit more power but Its just the same peak power. It does feel more responsive though, i guess because of the extra power and torque at 3,500rpm approx. 235Nm is pretty good considering they are 149Nm stock at the fly. A few other things i have noticed, Idle when warm has increased to 1400rpm now. Smell's a bit rich, and sounds a bit lumpy for the first 2 seconds after i start it. Could this mean anything?
  18. Urrgghh, this is making my head hurt. :jamie: I don't know why toyota have so many different 4ages and ecu's
  19. The smallport has a different ecu, a 28pin plug one, I got the bigport one.. 48 pin one Edit 42 pin I had a small discussion about the ecu to the bloke who sold it to me and he said this is the exact same one that came out of late ae86 jdm corollas found this too,
  20. Got the dyno test and the results are in... Drum roll please :bash: Power before was 65.3kw 228.8 Nm Now with the JDM ecu.. 65.5kw 235.2 Nm A MASSIVE increase of 0.2kw!! :bash: Red line is the JDM ecu, blue line is the ADM
  21. I have to give a big thank you to a 2 members specially .. Andrew (bowler) for all his hands on work with fixing my car and teaching me how to replace brakes and suspension and Trev for his help on pretty much any problem i had with my 4age on the forums On another note, I been a member of Rollaclub for just over 2 years now and when I first joined up, I knew hardly nothing about cars or corollas for that fact. Now, 2 years on, I have converted a stock ae82 sedan to a 4age with all the twinky running gear. I now know enough to strip that car down and build it again. Theres no way i could have done that before so I just want to say thank you to Rollaclub and everyone on the forums, I have learnt so much and met some really good people on here. I'm proud to be a member of such a great car club! :bash:
  22. Yeah the idle drops down to about 1,100rmp when its warmed up. I don't think the idle has anything to do with the ecu beacuse it was doing th exact same thing with the old ADM ecu :bash:
  23. Yeah it starts at about 2000 goes up to about 2600 then slowly goes down to 1100 when warm. I'd like to ajust the idle because 1100 is to high imo but i don't know how :bash: Thats how my old ecu went, don't know about the new one, i'll see how it goes
  24. See it and beleive it.. I don't know how it works either :bash: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ovG-oX8DSI The 92 ECU that i have was nothing like the ecu graph that beerhead posted up though. Edit: Just went for a better drive, got a massive smile which i can't wipe off, it picks up so much better and waaaaay more responsive. :bash:
  25. Well.. I went back there today and took both my ADM and JDM ecu's and told him about the different pin outs, He said Show me and handed me a screwdriver. So i opened both cases and pointed out the problem on both. "It will run, trust me, just plug it in".. (then a small debate about 92's and 82's) Went home, plugged it in and a very nervous few seconds later I started it and well, It works! :bash: Took it for a quick fang around the block and its not really faster but there is a difference, Its more responsive and a bit different. Its hard to explain but its still cold too so i didn't go that hard to try it out. I guess the dyno will tell though. I'm going to eat some humble pie now :bash:
