  1. Cheers guys, I took it off the road and lastly drove it to a mates house last night for repairs. I started stripping the motor down and all i have left is the cams and intake manifold then i can undo the head bolts and go from there. I couldn't believe just how f@$ked the oil was. All through the cam covers is Grey and white slug/oil everywhere :P I went to repco and could have spent over 500 dollars on stuff but the girl working there didn't even know what a torque wrench was :angry: so i didn't buy anything and just walked out. [/Rant] She couldn't even tell me what gaskets and seals i needed to rebuild my engine and when it came time to ask about a 0.8mm head gasket she was over it. Thats then when i was over it and asked for a torque wench which she didnt even know. I think she was expecting to sell a radiator hose or a spray can because thats all she was qualified to do. [/end rant]
  2. Yeah i bought the engine from a guy who is well known on the forums and he's a good bloke so I'm not pointing the finger at him. I only drive the engine for about 1500kms then got problems but it was sitting round for 1.5 years in my shed before i put it in the car. I don't know why its blown, I found a loose hose heater hose but my mechanic said that wouldn't have blown it. He said its just a old engine and shit happens. I would like to know what caused it buy maybe he's right :) I'm going to buy all new gaskets and seals and fix it all up. Its leaking oil from cam cover, head gasket, and front cam gear housing. I'll change the sump gasket, inlet and exhaust gaskets and what ever else i can think of too. :(
  3. I took the car to my mechanic and he confirmed the head gasket is gone. Thats why my car was idle hunting, exhaust gas was getting in the cooling system and creating a air lock. I stuck my nose in the radiator and it smelt like exhaust. Someone told me if I get a ciggy lighter and burn the dipstick and see bubbles on the oil i got troubles. Well its bubbles every where so i def got troubles :) My oil is totally screwed at well, its like sludge now. Just gotta hunt down a head gasket now and start pulling it apart
  4. Spotted a ke70 rolla, Light sky blue, sedan, black mags on front, stocky's on the back, black JDM mirrors on the bonnet, blacked out tailights and lowered. Its parked out the front of timbertop milkbar in rowville. Anyone know of this car?
  5. I heard you can't use a FWD 4age Gearbox on a MR2 because the gearbox is reversed or something. EDIT: never mind.. Towe001 explained it better.
  6. I think as long as the wheels/tires don't stick out further than the guard then you'll be fine with whatever width you choose.

  8. That's a big go cart. If your going to drive it around can i suggest you weld up a full cage to protect you incase you roll it. So is it running now or do you have to fix the engine? They do go alot better with everything taken out :)
  9. I got the car back from the mechanics and he said the head gasket is blown :bash: Kinda cracked the shits with it and went for a last spin before i took the engine apart. I went for a major thrash and burnt the front tires out in one night.. :) It was weird because the harder i drove it, the smoother the car got and more responsive it felt. The next day it ran perfect and didn't miss a beat and the oil had cleared up too. It was like i just blew the cobwebs out of it. Drove the rolla to work the other day (Because the Falcon costs me about 30 bucks petrol for the 2 hour trip) After the long drive home its now playing up again and idle hunting and over heating, but the oil is still ok. I'm almost sure the head gasket is blown and my mechanic said it was gone but it just seems funny it's not lost any power and runs fine some days and other days like a bag of shit. I looked at the coolant and it smells like exhaust gas so i guess thats where the air has been coming from and causing the idle hurting. Other news is i had to replace the front tires so i got a pair of these on the front :) CLICK
  10. Looks good and sounds like you know what your doing. :bash: Sorry, I'm not a huge fan of the front spoiler. Its a little too big but something a tad smaller and some side skirts it would look wicked. Not saying it looks shit or anything but if you had some side skirts it should make the front look better :) Nice work with the turbo manifold. Its a pretty tight fit on the front without the turbo let alone a massive one like that squeezed in there :) So whats your plans with this ride? Track times, 1/4 mile or just one super quick street machine?

  14. Not really, still waiting to find out whats wrong with the engine from my mechanic. I hope its not the head gasket but most symptoms point to that. I'm flat stone cold broke so even when i do find out whats wrong i can't do anything to it :blinks: My plans if the head gasket is blown is to send the head off to get tested, shave it a bit more, Polish the exhaust ports and use a 0.8mm or 1.0mm head gasket. But i got no cash what so ever so nothing just yet.

  17. I had a mate look at my car tonight and he reckons the thermostat could be screwed. The car gets hot but the bottom radiator hose remains cold. I'm going to remove the thermostat tomorrow and run it without and see if that fixes the problem. He also found a small leak in one hose but only it leaks when the car is cold.
  18. Nah, I gave him pleanty of space, I just just wanted to test out the new swaybar in my car and give it a good run through the hills without some dick going half the speed limit. ;)
  19. Bump. Its still doing the idle hunting thing :D Problems i got are... Its always idle hunting now it over heats its loosing water from somewhere its got air in the cooling system the oil cap is milky some times then clears up again but the sump is always nice clear oil anyone got any ideas?? I didn't do the TK test but did a compression test and all 4 cylinders are about 185
  20. That killrust stuff is very shiny and doesn't need a buff to get shiny. You could spend days, weeks or even months with the prep on the car. Depends how good you want it to look or how damaged the body is. Take of what you can, Ie Lights, indicators and what ever you can unbolt. Bear rust should be at bear minimum rust converted. Spots that you sanded through to bear metal should be primed in acrylic etch primer. If your using the killrust you could maybe get away with no primer but make sure you Wet sand the whole car down with 800grit paper first and rub the car down with Wax and silicon remover to remove any grease or other contaminates. If you want a real straight looking car, Fill dents, block sand, refill, sand again, prime, spray on black speckle coat (Guide Coat) Block sand again, if black spots are still there fill again. You should block sand everything you can but leave the corners for hand sand later.
  21. Cheers Evan, I did that too. I parked it on a hill with the radiator the highest point of the cooling system. Just keeps bubbling even after it idles for over half hour. Still over heating, idle hunting and loosing water :D
  22. Cheers for the reply :D. I bleed the cooling system 3 times and its still getting air in the system. Oil cap is clean again today.. Wtf??

Cheers :( Still not sure whats happening to this.. still doing strange things :P Hunting idle comes and goes Oil cap has gone like a chocolate milkshake but oil is still clear honey in the sump then the oil cap clears up again :D sometimes I hear water under dash then other times not, even with heater on. I'm loosing water from somewhere but can't find a leak Temp gauge almost goes to red then back down to half again and does this 3-4 times on a 40min drive big oil leak from cam covers and front of cam gear housing and some leaks from the head on gearbox side I feel like just taking it to the mechanics to get all fixed but wheres the fun in that (plus it costs money) and I'm broke ATM :no: and not only that, my daily decided to blow a heater hose today, prob jealous that i been with the corolla for so long. EL fords are a prick to work on, just had to help my mate change a coil on his EB. AND i have to work tomorrow just get get some cash together so i can't work on either car :hmm:
  24. What grinds my gears is some F*** Witt who drives 40km/h in a 70km zone and holds me up. I went down a back road to get away from him but he goes down the short cut too :D Got to the top of the hill to turn right and he sits there for like 2 mins before taking off then i follow him through the intersection and he stops half way though so i was then stuck in the intersection on a blind corner!! I beeped my horn and he slowly took off, again at 35-40km/h in a 60km zone. I'm like f@$k you and dart up another short cut at the last minute and speed down the hill. By the time i got down to the bottom where the 2 roads meet again hes flying past at about 90km in 60km zone because he knew what i was trying to do then he goes slow again with me stuck behind him...
  25. Just buy a 1997 wrx, cut the body from the chassis and weld the corolla body on. Done! :D
