  1. http://www.billzilla.org/4agmods.htm#115hp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_A_engine http://autospeed.com/cms/title_The-4AGE-Gu...33/article.html Its just what i read, the second version of 4age (1987 -91) was 86kw and had a AFM insead of Map >|
  2. I tried to get her to wash it but I got a book thrown at me instead.. oh well >| Little sneak peak of where its up to.. I'm trying to keep it as stock as possible for the roadworthy so I want the 13" wheels back on but they don't fit on now because of the bigger brakes :lolcry: I really need to lower it but the new springs i got are a bit too low for the roady i think, stock airbox is in, stock exhaust is in, bumper on (just needs to be painted) Need to sort out the heater fan wiring, 4ac heater wont mix with the 4age loom :lolcry: I'm thinking about taking off the side strips? What do you think? Edit: Oops, forgot to upload the pic.. :lolcry:
  3. Well, its all running sweet now. Thanks for all the replies >| Just one little thing, on the 4ac engine loom there was a plug that plugged into the fan motor, the 4age engine loom does not have it, well it has one of the plug's that come off the dash loom for the fan but not the other plug from the engine, the fan wont turn on without it, i think its 4 pin one. Any suggestions?
  4. I found out that the JDM and ADM bigports fitted with MAP sensor and T-VIS are 95kw stock, 88kw was for the USA version. Both engines would be alot better than the 3 or 4k but I have to agree, the bigport would be easier as the manifold is already facing the front for you. EDIT: Check out this thread.. its the fisrt one i could think of at the top of my head. A ke30 with a bigport 4age http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=36993
  5. Wicked wheels, they suit the car very well >| Just saw the interior pics before.. speechless :lolcry: so clean, the black grill looks cool aswell :lolcry:
  6. Looking real nice, should be a beast very soon.. Your not going to know yourself with a 4age in there, >|
  7. Thank you Sam and Silverra for the offer, I got Jason to help me. We cut off the bit off and rewelded it straight but I cut the wrong end so it still didn't line up >| Another thing is the new cat is shorter so i needed to extend the exhaust pipe by about 3 inches. In the end I just took the rolla to MR muffler and they cut, welded, extended and fitted my exhaust for $70. All sweet now. Jason, thanks heaps for your help, Hope the jimmys went down well :lolcry:
  8. Everything is running a bit smoother now.. Stock exhaust is in, engine revs fine, milky oil has gone away and misfiring has gone :lolcry: I totally forgot all about the TVIS and only reved to about 3,500prm for the first 10mins of the drive home. Thinking to myself, "wonder how well it really goes?" Took off at the lights and as soon as it hit 4200rpm i was outa there.. :lolcry: Stress levels are down ALOT now, but i'm still in the dog house for ignoring my gf for the last two weeks, so i have to make up for it somehow. Maybe i could take her for a drive and wash and wax the car, she did say she wants to spend time with me >| The alternator noise is still there so I'll have to look into that another day. There is some scraping noise when going slow speeds so i think that is the new disks hitting the rotor guard on the inside Overall I'm pretty stoked now :lolcry:
  9. You might have to get JDM lens and holders...
  10. Great to hear.. The best possible thing to do is either buy a complete car or a half cut, that way you will have everything just to swap over. I bought a complete 4age engine, engine loom, gearbox, drive shafts, ECU, vac sensors and radiator. Things i still needed were fuel lines, accelerator cable, 3 other looms, hubs, fuel tank.. list goes on. The thing I'm saying is if you want to get some bits now and others later, just get a half cut then you will have everything you need :jamie:
  11. f@$k it, f@$k it all. :jamie: I'm frustrated and everything i do seems to be wrong, Exhaust is the biggest thing that is pissing me off right now. Nothing bolts up Oil filter that repco gave me is wrong. Engine's head gasket could be blown... ARHHHH!!!!! Going to drink my frustration away..
  12. I have put a 4age in my sedan and really need someone with a welder. I could come to you. I just need to modify the cat so it can bolt up to the 4age exhaust. There's a 6 pack to anyone that can help me:) my number is 0411 375 912.
  13. I had a corona years ago with the 2.4L efi in it. Went like shit off a shackle.. :) Only thing is the drive lines are real weak,, in 12 months i blew 5 diffs and done the center bearings in the tail shaft twice, but gearbox was great.
  14. Is it metal or plastic?
  15. Little update, The engine idle was hunting so did a search and found it's air in the cooling system, All fixed now. Alternator was whining like a supercharger but had a flat battery, replaced battery. All good now Tried to fit the 4ac exhaust but the cat wont line up to the 4age exhaust, going to get it welded up this week :) Bled the brakes and clutch, still needs to be done again with a bleed kit but its working pretty good Took it for a small test drive and back, umm loud.. VERY LOUD!! lol. Got a unreg permit and drove it home, Every single head turned when driving home.. :) Just think.. No bumper, grill or bonnet and loud as all hell :D The engine rev's fine when in neutral but under load it wont go over 2,600rpm and no power up hills. I'm hopping its the exhaust and no back pressure :jamie:
  16. Ok, power steering vac hose has been fixed, Thanks Trev :) Idle Hunting has stopped since i got all the air out of the system. Now as for the alternator noise, I bought a new bettery today and started it up, the noise has almost stopped. It was whining like a supercharger before and getting louder as the engine reved more. Its still there slightly but its hardly noticable now. Its still runnung without an exhaust so i can't hear much when its on but yeah.. :jamie:
  17. Nice work there mate, I had a few problems with the ridge on my bonnet too. I tried filling at about 6 times before giving up and just painting the dam thing. I know it's going to piss me off when the bonnet goes back on and see that dent still there. Just keep trying and you'll be glad you went to the extra effort of doing it properly :no2:
  18. Cool, thanks Trev. Everything else is pretty good. just The alternator is making a whining noise but I think thats because the battery is dead flat. I'll buy a new one this weekend.
  19. I was at Toyospares in Bayswater yesterday and a bloke there was saying they do 4age conversions for Ke70's for $3,500. It seems like a lot of money but if you think about all the money (and time) you would have to spend searching and buying parts and all the problems that come with it it doesn't sound too bad really.. :no2: http://www.toyospares.com.au/2.html
  20. Hey, I did a search but couldn't find anything about this. I put a 4age in my ae82 sedan, The idle is hunting and i searched around and found most likely its because of a air bubble in the cooling system but before i found out about that i thought maybe it was the power steering lines. Because my car does not have power steering i took the P/S pump off the engine. There is still 2 vac hoses that go from the throttle body to the steering rack. When i started the engine idle was a steady 2,600rpm when i blocked it off it was about 2,000rpm. My mate pulled one hose off then put the other one in a loop back into the throttle body and it sits at about 2000rpm. Is that ok to do that or should i do something else. The idle is still jumping up and down from 900 to 2000 but I'm going to bleed the cooling system tomorrow. Just want to know if its safe to block off the power steering lines or loop them? Thanks in advance, Johno
  21. Haha, yeah it has no exhaust on it yet.. All I have to do now is bleed the brake's, put the interior and front end back together and take it for a test drive.. oh and put the exhaust back on.. Lol
  22. Well, its been a freeking long time to say this... :drumroll: Engine is running! Part One - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8GrHdpVnA8 Part Two - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hi1O9K-2tG0 A massive thank you goes out to my mate Dave and also to everyone on rollaclub that gave me heaps of advice on everything to get this going :D
  23. Wow! thats nice :D
  24. Thanks mate :) Yeah i will be tinting them but not yet, the indercators are faded atm so i guess for the RWC I might have to buy new taillights. Its also got broken front seatbelt, cracked windscreen and a few other unroadworthy things.. :D
  25. The long (wet) weekend is over and I still can't start the car :D Just a few problems.. Tried to get it all running but the weather has been shit house so very limited time when it was not raining, it went pitch black at 2pm on Saturday and got a massive storm and still raining on an off now. 1. I have everything ready to fire the engine up for the first time but the rear flexible fuel line bolt is a f#$king bitch to get off and I have tried everything and its fully seized on so need to buy a new line. 2. One of the brake lines i bought has the hard line bolt still stuck in it and that wont come off either. 3. I have only found two twinky's at about 6 different wreckers and one of the wreckers just got rid of their twinky so only 1 left and I still need a Stock Airbox, Vac sensor and a Twinky Accelerator cable.. (Ae92 ones don't fit :D ) I can't find that stuff anywhere :bash: I modified the rear loom and put fuel pump wires in. The engine kicks over but just needs the fuel line.
