  1. Greetings all, After a short abscence from the corolla club, I'm back! I sold my AE92 last year and was upgraded to a Nissan Dualis. After a short stint in that car (due to many issues) i realized i had to go back to my faith and buy another corolla haha. I purchased a 2010 Corolla Ascent Sports in manual last weekend. Already i love it. But i have a few questions. - As with other models, the Ascent sport comes with the standard projector headlights. I was wondering, is it possible to buy the HID headlights off the Levin ZR and fit them onto my car? I understand how HID lights work, but i figure the lights themselves are the same size, i just don't know wether it would be to difficult electrical wise and do i have to fit a "ballast" i think thats what they call it. I like how the new Levin ZR lights have darker bits inside them compared to the projectors. -Any suggestions for improvements that can be made performance wise? I was running platnium iridium plugs in my AE92 and i really liked them, and i had an exhaust but I'm not to keen to do that to my new car just yet. Has anyone had any experience with K&n filters on corollas? Particularly the newer corollas. I put a k&n filter in the nissan and it increased performance but fuel economy was worse. -The only thing i don't like about the car is that it has the new toyota "generation y" audio system, it looks a bit weird and you have to use this knob to control it all. I think ill upgrade it to the 6 stacker CD unit with the small screen in the middle, the one that comes with the conquest model. Is it hard to change out the steroe? i was told you just pop up the facia and theres 4 screws.... Thanks guys!
  2. Heres my exhaust, sorry for poor quality :)
  3. I need new black strips, where can i get them? I was told they had clips that would break. The panel beater stuffed up he chrome on them :(
  4. I've got same sort of issue, but i put the key in lock on drivers side and it unlocks all doors except the passenger side, the misses isn't very happy as I have to lean across. If I unlock the door from passenger side with the key it unlocks though. Whats happening? Dried out?
  5. I've got AE92 running 2.5inch pipe from cat with single muffler on a 4afe, sounds amazing. Wouldn't go any diff. Was done by ace exhausts in melbourne $250
  6. Ive been trying to upload the videos onto youtube for AGES, and i just got the new iphone which lets me uploaded directly from the phone, so the quality is the best, but ill upload more videos as i go. Hope you like!
  7. I 2nd that, i wanna see some pics of the cold air intake! :bash: And i agree with D4NNYC, put some good castrol oil in it, I'm running castrol in mine, fantastic
  8. Yeah i picked a quite one cause i didnt want it to over the top. but to tell u the truth I'm quite happy i did it, because on idle its quiet, rumbles, then when u rev it, even in neutral it sounds like its got guts. I hate it when you hear small cars and they put canons on them and crap and they sound like the engine has no go. Mine sounds like its got power. Yeah i work at a shopping centre so when i leave at night and its empty i always plant it  Even outside its very nice, i was driving through melbourne CBD the other night and i was stuck in traffic, and i was getting quite a few people looking at my car, especially when i took off. When its in 3rd gear, thats the gear of love hahaha :) I drove through the tunnels in melbourne today and gave it a bit of a rev, its been 2 years and i still love it :) The only thing i would say that is recently i put castrol magnatec oil in it, and its gotten quieter :D and it did the same when i put iridium plugs in it. I WANT IT BACK LOUDER! hahaha Yeah their all bogans :D my car is 10 years younger and all theirs have had way more problems than mine haha. If i can work it out il put a video on youtube later and show you.
  9. I used Ace Exhausts In Croydon. Prettty far out of your way, but the exhaust system them did on my AE92 is fantastic. Was $500 for full system (no extractors)
  10. My AE92 Csi does about 3000rpm or just under while doing 100kmph on the freeway.....Thats with exhaust and some other stuff tho And i don't like that comment about thats what it does before the clutch goes, i think my clutch is dying at the moment :bash:
  11. I got a 4af Ae92 csi, i put a full exhaust system on it, it LOVES it. And id agree they love to thrashed, i don't normally like doing it but it seems like it will never die on me! Drive it like its stolen!!!
  12. How do you change the sender? I reacon mines faulty on my AE92.....when the guage shows off the scale empty and i go to fill up it still has bout 15litres left.... i wouldnt mind changing it
  13. Hmm well i got a custom 2.5 inch exhaust system done on my AE92 csi as mentioned in other posted, when i got it done i noticed an increase in power and improvement in fuel economy. Its not a loud system, its fairly subtle, but all my friends are jealous of it cause they drive crappy Ford BA falcons and they got exhausts that sound CRAP compared to mine, when i drive into undercover car parks they love it hahaha!
  14. Really random question once again from me :D I was driving along one night and suddenly realized, the button the right of my steering wheel for central locking, doesnt have a light behind it liek the two on the left for back window washer and demister. Did the central locking switch ever have a light behind it that lights up when you turn on the headlights? Or am i just imagining things, because it looks like it should be lit up.... Cheers!
  15. Well as i said, it was reading under a quarter full when i pulled in, filled it up with 27litres, got in and it said full. Thats interesting about the fuel filler pipe. Can you remember what the fix was at all? It would be interesting to read.... As for the sender, what could be wrong with it? the rest of the car is in perfect condition, seems like a funny thing to die all of a sudden. I only noticed it when i saw how many litres i put in, then what the gauge said and i thought thats not right. Would i have to replace the sender? Where would i get one from i wonder.
  16. Hey guys, thought i would once again turn to the forums for some advice! I drive a AE92 csi limited hatch, and i started thinking the other day, the fuel gauge seems to be all over the shop. The reason i noticed was, one day it was below 1/4 of a tank full and the fuel light was on, about 1/8th of a tank full. So i went to the petrol station and filled up with some petroleum. I took on 27 litres of petrol.....and when i got back in the car the gauge was showing full....assuming it is a 50litre tank, from 1/8th full to full is NOT 27 litres. Is it possible that there is something wrong with a sensor or the fuel sender gauge in the tank that is providing incorrect information to the gauge or something? I want to get it looked at, but don't know what to get looked at!! something dirty possibly?
  17. Hmm i see then! Well i would highly recommend the 2.5 inch pipe....but as far as i know, if you take out the resi in any car, thats what makes it LOUD because the function of the resi is to resonate the waves to a certain extent and kill some off i think (very technical talk there). But I'm sure someone will be able to correct me. So id say, yes have a resi
  18. Oh yeah, and i got a rediculous improvement in fuel economy since i did it last year, i get but 600-650km and sometimes close to 700km out of a single tank of V-power, depending on my driving
  19. Well its not loud enough to be pulled over by the cops. Its hard to explain exhaust noises in word form hahah! Its louder than normal. Do you like loud exhausts that get people looking at you or are u just looking for it to sound a little sportier?
  20. Damn my colour coded bumpers :P i wanna see pics of the cruise tho!
  21. Has anyone been to one of the beastclub meets? What are the people like? Will they look down their noses at me and my rolla :P
  22. Hmm we should get a cruise club or something going for vic rolla club members. All my my mates have BA falcons and i went with them once to a BA drive to the airport, was alright. I think cruises are a good idea if you all drive somewhere then stand around and chat about the cars, i don't agree with cruising to do burnouts etc etc but then again, us rolla people are a bit more civilized than the falcon/commodore clubs :P
  23. Just wondering if anyone can help me with this question before i take it to a mechanic see if they know anything. This only happens when I'm on the run, not on startup or anything else. In my AE92 4A-FE, if I'm sitting at the lights say with my foot on the clutch and brake waiting to go, i can hear a tapping noise from under the bonnet like "TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP" continuously while the engine idles. Its been like that since i bought the car, its not a major problem, but i really want to find what it is because my car is going amazing at the moment and that's the only thing that is annoying me. Has anybody else had this noise, it almost sounds like something taping against the firewall or something....Or does anybody have any ideas how to find the noise haha! Thanks
  24. Hmm well i had a completely stock system on my 4afe Ae92, but i took it to an exhaust place near me that we had some done, i got a full 2.5 inch exhaust fitted from the cat back with a resi and muffler and its PERFECT. From the outside, when it starts up and cold its pretty beefy, but then it calms down and idles deep and sounds smooth but not loud and drowning. When u rev it u get a deeper rev noise than normal. From inside its very good. You can hear everything, the noise isnt overpowering. I think the biggest change in noise since i got it was inside, it just sounds so much better inside! My advice would be 2.5 resi and muffler. I hate the sound of canons personally, and i think a resi is necessary so it kills the droaning. hope that made sense
  25. I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out here! I recently got my car serviced for 120,000km and had the clutch fluid replaced. It was going awesome after the service, then about two weeks ago the clutch started playing games. First it was sticking slightly whenever i lifted off my foot, which is really irritating because its hard to take off the line. So i came home and spoke to my father and the only thing we could come up with was a possible leakage in the clutch fluid, but it wasnt leaking..... the next day, it was fine :) Then suddenly about 3 days later, more clutch folly, this time the clutch felt like a sponge and i didnt feel like i had any control over the clutch, so i thought GREAT its ruined and il need a new one :y: so came home, spoke to my father again and we thought well if its the same tomorow, then i guess we have to get it replaced because its dead. Same story again though, next day, it was fine, the clutch was back to normal :y: This is all leading up to today..... I left early for work, and i noticed hmm the clutch is sticking again......maybe its the cold (random guess) and i kept driving, but it kept getting worse and worse. It feels like the actual pedal is grabbing the carpet or something. So again i thought hmm yeh i think its ruined again...... but then on the drive home from work, the car was performing amazingly! as soon as the clutch got over the grabbing and actually engadged, it was going better than ever!! I'm at a loss as to whats happening! Any suggestions guys? I don't believe the clutch itself needs replacing, its just not that bad, its just the constant grabbing, and it makes it hard to drive :sob:
