  1. Video of carb-sync: https://www.facebook...549679939278999 Booking in some dyno time today, hopefully sometime this week we shall have some comparison numbers. :) Edit: Booked in for 12:00pm tomorrow, game on!
  2. Managed to get the carbs in sync & then advanced the timing/changed the curve to suit. Running at 13° btdc at idle (~1,000 rpm) & curving upwards at 1,500 rpm to a maximum of 35° btdc at 4,000 rpm. Goes nicely, will post video when I can.
  3. I spent last Saturday afternoon/evening & ALL of Sunday trying to get the carburetors in sync. Went through about 25L of petrol in the process, but no luck. I could get 1, 2 & 3 all good but number 4 just didn't want to play ball. Found out why this afternoon. Obviously I stuffed it installing the manifold, which was sometime around February & the manifold hasn't been off since. Installed a new gasket, haven't tuned it yet but the difference.....oh my! :)
  4. Since my welding caused a fair bit of distortion in the roof panel, I was beginning to run out of ideas as to what to do. A random phone call asking if I was interested in an electric tilt/slide unit from an AE92 made that a bit easier. Scrapping the manual pop up option & am making this fit instead. Its size/shape allows me to cut out a lot of the distortion & it also braces the roof panel to reduce any flexing.
  5. A few changes in my life mean that I don't have the time (yet) to dedicate to competing, so I've been sitting this season out since Round 2. I miss it like heck, good work making it to all events this year, how have your results been? Mt Gambier is the next event? What are the other two?
  6. A couple more photos taken over the past week.
  7. By not captive, it means that if you jack the car up & the shocks/springs are fully extended, the springs will not be held in place but will be loose & can potentially fall out of position. The same thing can happen going over bumps on the road. I used standard replacement bumpstops, available as a kit with dust boots etc from most auto-parts stores.
  8. We haven't seen webers around the forums for a while, but in answer to your question, the bumpstops will only need changing if they are flogged out. Which will happen with KS Super Lows as I found out the hard way, also bear in mind the springs will most likely not be captive.
  9. Cheers guys, glad you like it, brightens up a gloomy Winter somewhat. Just chillin' with some fellow Corollas. Edit: Just noticed in the first photo, I seem to be parked next to the S800 quite a lot at events, not deliberately either. :hmm:
  10. Daaayyyuummm, now that's a sweet interior!
  11. In case that wasn't enough photos for you all, here's another 300 or so... ;) Holy wow, what a day! https://www.facebook...=1&l=aba28dfa6f
  12. So, may I present to you all, Blue Things Winterfest makeover. Now rolling on Enkei Aeronautics, 14" x 6" +38, causes random Commodore drivers to honk their horn at you & give vigorous thumbs-up while on the freeway. :)
  13. DIY & learn a few things along the way, 4AG conversions are not all that difficult, if I can do it in my driveway, anyone can. With these cars/engines, when you start paying labour charges, costs go astronomical real quick.
  14. Things be happening again, as in, finally finishing the underbody grind/prime.
  15. With TCCAV's Winterfest event on in just 10 more days, am scrambling to get some changes done in time. I'm going to be a tease & not mention what they are, only that I think they will be worthwhile. ;)
  16. Errr....No. Hypothetical situation: You have an accident, the car ends up on its side or roof. Which is quicker to release so you can get out of the car/emergency services can extract you, a single point lap/sash belt or a racing harness? The single point, all day, every day. ^ This.
  17. It's seriously an awesome feeling, I certainly don't regard myself as some sort of engine guru (I did follow step by step instructions after all), but it is the most complex thing I've ever put together. Finally pulled my finger out & installed the castor bushes on the front control arms & a set of camber bolts in the rear hubs. Currently repairing a stripped thread on the front swaybar mount so haven't 'tested' the new handling traits just yet.
  18. In like Flynn! *Note to self* - Fit front grille prior to this.
  19. Quite happy that an engine I put together is still running 10,000kms later to be able to give it the due service. Fresh oil/filter, 80w transmission fluid, flush/fill clutch/brake fluid with DOT4, new spark plugs & air filters. Happy days! :D
  20. :lolcry: Oily gel-blobs, not sure if success or failure. I'm going with *meh*. Part 2: One-way valve installed just before the catch can breather hose splits into two.
  21. 24 hours later, there's about 5mm of water in the c/c. Let the experimenting begin.
  22. I'm having these crazy thoughts of trying something like the water-absorbing crystal-things (normally used in gardening to hold moisture in the soil) inside the c/c & see what happens. That dark brown muck is the water you mention.
