  1. well in that case count me in pending alternator!
  2. hey all if the alternator problems are sorted by then ill be there for the meet and greet but i don't know if ill trust the old rolla on a hills run. the 5k might not make it up hills! but well see! anyway be nice to meet everyone
  3. thanks very much for all the advice. hopefully ill get it all sorted this coming weekend
  4. I'm still here! just been busy with work and stuff. ill post some updated photos tomorrow if i get a chance.
  5. well i thought id fixed it but it seems i was wrong. the battery is still losing charge even though i drive the car everyday. nearly didnt have enough juice to turn it over yesterday. so i have a few questions: can i connect a wire directly from the alternator positive to the battery positive to bypass the original loom wire? and does the charge light wire have to be connected for the alternator to work? any help will be appreciated cheers charl
  6. wicked! thanks for the info ke30dude and medicine man. ill go and get this thing sorted right now! cheers :(
  7. thanks for the info. it is an internally regulated one sorry i didnt mention that earlier! so just to make sure, there will only be two wires connected to the back of the alternator, the constant positive, (fat wire with ring connector), and the charge light wire, (possibly yellow) and that would mean i can remove the xternal regulator from the car as the rest of the wires only go to that? i might be pushing my luck but... pics would be helpful!
  8. hi all, i have been building this car for a while now and ive finally gotten to a drivable point. but my bettery kept dying and the charge light wouldnt turn off. so upon investigation i found that my alternator isnt connected. the problem is its not an original one and only seems to have place on the back for the positive wire to screw on and one other wire to plug in. the standard ke20 wiring loom has a three wire plug as well as the positive wire and one other wire waiting to go into the alternator. ive been searching all morning to try and find what i need to do but i don't understand much of what ive read. so if anyone could please help me or point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it! thanks Charl
  9. fixed it! thanks alot for the info
  10. need some help again please. i was smelling petrol when my car was running and thought it was just running rich until i just put my new battery in and had my head under the bonnet while the car was running. i saw something dripping and upon closer inspection found it to be fuel!!! not too great as far as safety is concerned..... here are the pics of the culprit... circled in red is the origin of the leak, it looks like its leaking from the middle where it seems to have been braised or welded. i don't know why fuel has to go here but I'm sure theres a reason for it. so what i was wondering if someone could please tell me what this is for and where i can get a new one that wont leak! what models have the same thing?
  11. dude that sounds like it would have been hilarious to see!! did a bit of work on the weekend but i don't have pics yet sorry.. 1: installed the roof lining, looks sweet! 2: covered and installed the sun visors 3: installed bmw headlights 4: serviced, changed oil, flushed radiator, changed oil filter, installed "fully sick" pod filter, changed leads, changed points, plugs 5: finished installing the front seats, and seatbelts, (thanks paseo!) 6: started mucking around with the dash, gonna take a lot of work!! i also installed my 4 in 1 tacho and found out its dodgy! :D tacho works but the three little dials in it don't work all that well, readings jumping all over the place. not happy. anyway, ima go see what else needs doing. cheers
  12. they also have 2 35's there and a few old celicas
  13. hi all i was gonna leave the venetian black anyway, i decided the car needs it black to keep the 'dark and sinister' look!! i installed the seats today, wasnt as difficult as i thought, just a little bit of loving with my trusty hammer and somehow it all ended up lining up rather well! ill post pics of it on the weekend but take my word for it when i say they look frickin wicked! i love them. the original ke25 seats and rails that were in there will be going up for sale in the for sale thread soon. probably on saturday. going to u-pull-it lonsdale tomorrow before i go to scotts to pick up some bits and pieces, ill let you guys know what they have in the way of rollas. anyway, time to go to bed, big day tomorrow! see ya charl
  14. yeah, definitely a nice looking car man. hope you get that engine your after.
  15. woops, just realised it was still logged in under my partners name. sorry everybody! cheers charl
  16. centre cosole is in but still needs finishing touches, (black bolts etc) stereo is in but wires need to be hidden better sits just under the dash, nice and neat, white dash bits to be painted black. dash is out now too, ready for a custom job on the weekend my "custom volvo" venetian teaser shot of the roof lining......... enjoy, more to come!!
  17. I'm glad my bit of info came in handy!! bloody rain has put a halt on my progress today, i don't have a pergola or carport to work under! :POSTPICS!: so I'm inside playing ps3!
  18. yeah i got lucky with that one!! but its not for sale. sorry! i am however in the process of making them out of fibreglass and when ive got a few ill be putting them up for sale in the parts for sale thread. so keep coming back and theyll eventually be there!! not sure on a price yet but ill figure it out. well hurry up and get the thing done man, we gotta organise a cruise, but mine wont be ready till at least the weekend after this one coming!! anyways, time for work...... cheers Charl items on the agenda for this arvo: - put venetian in - make a start on the front seats - wire up the stereo - cook dinner somewhere in between!!
  19. got the back seat in today and the centre console, due to the fact that i don't have a camera apart from my girlfriends phone, no pics yet sorry guys. but ill put some up when i get the opportunity. i think it looks wicked!! can't wait to show you guys.
  20. Murderess your right! mine looks nice compared to that mess youve got there! but if it works and your happy with it why change it right? i hope at least its all safe and that your car wont burn down eventually! Hey Ryan, Paseo console was about 20 bucks i think and its gonna take a little bit of modifying due to the tunnel that the gearbox sits in being a little wider in the rolla but its plastic, (the console), and it bends! ill be putting it in this arvo when i get home from work. as for the t-piece, thanks alot man its gonna make my life heaps easier! and yeah, i am pretty happy with the car so far, considering that one day i do want to do a ground up rebuild, but that will have to wait cause I'm a povo bum!! Drew69 where do you live? so we can organise a mini cruise, maybe murderess and ryan can join us and whoever else is up for it? anyway time for me to go to work now  cheers Charl
  21. yeah mate, took me ages to find it but i did a little while ago. its on this page that my cars thread by the way, good luck with your build charl
  22. just went and found some semi seeled beam headlights at u-pull-it! 55 bucks on ebay and i got them for nothing. these ones are off of some bmw, can't tell you the model though sorry! prolly wont be a direct fit but ill make them work. now itll tak a h4 bulb instead of having to replace the whole big thing!! and here is the induction thing fitted, i need to get a pod filter so i can get rid of that ugly air box!
  23. here are some pics of the seats, console, etc. Paseo Front bucket seats Paseo Rear seats Paseo centre console comes with cup holders, uh i mean beer holders!! this thing i got off of a ford econovan, its part of the intake system, and guess what, fits exactly onto my standard carby!! makes cold air induction so much easier and doesnt cost 300 bucks like the ones in the shop! anyway, ive gotta go and make the console fit and install the cd player so i will leave you there for now. cheers oh, and if you didnt know a paseo is a toyota too so I'm still staying true to the brand!
  24. just got ragin' back from the exhaust place, cost $150 bucks and now she is schweet!!! extractors go over the gearbox crossmember where they are supposed to and the car sound wicked, not like a rally beast like yesterday but it still sounds nice! my partner Sarah has just signed up to the forum as well so keep an eye out for her posts. I'm sure well be looking for a rolla for her as soon as mine is all done..... anyway, still got heaps of work to do so bye for now!
