  1. hi I have a 7 rib block but it has no oil return pipe, The other 7rib I have has it and also oil squirters. Can I still use a smallport head on the block with no oil return pipe??
  2. Anyone
  3. Hey in the middle of a build-up. 4age SP, 7 rib block I have done all the main caps/bearings etc. While checking the normal thrust clearance (Sideways) it's perfect very little movement 0.015-0.020. But while spinning the crank over I notice the thrust bearing itself slightly moving up and down and across, Not (sideways) am I making any sence?? :jamie: Is this a problem?? Measures up identical to old set and no machining been done just a crank linish. Any ideas???????????????
  4. Hey Just a heads up fellas, I just went through the same business of High 4age price's. Spoke to a fella I get my chev parts from in the states. Orderd parts threw him heaps heaps cheaper. He has a wholesale import/export company over there!! I Can get Full Bearing set and Full Gasket set Main/Rod/Thrust Bearings These come in a box NAKAMOTO. But are ACL bearings distributed by this company. ACL is stamped on the bearing!!!!!!!! Full gasket kit is great All main gaskets, plus crank and oil pump seal, Cam seals, Valve stem seals, Small and Big port inlet, Sump gasket Everything!!!!!! Can do $215 the lot plus Oz shipping only. Will get photo's if every1 interested. If I didnt get my pistons already I would have got a full kit, PISTONS, RINGS, BEARINGS, FULL GASKET SET, OIL PUMP, WATER PUMP. OIL FILTER, TIMING BELT. $550 p/ oz ship. All Available sep. I ordered from him Thursday last week arrived Monday arvo  PM if interested. Just letting everyone know cause my Oz quotes were Pistons $280, Bearings M$95/R$75/T$26, Full Gas set $195, Oil pump $80(trade price), Water pump $65, Belt$45 Etc Etc
  5. Can someone please tell me where in Melbourne is the best to find "40 oversize pistons, 20mm pin, For a 4age!!! Is it simply just any ACL Stockist or is there a good cheap importer of toyota parts??? Also has anyone used NPR Pistons/Rings????
  6. Ok lads i've pulled down my 7 rib block! The rods are the ones with the oil hole in the side and 18mm gudgeon pins. So are these the smaller ones??? And does this mean its the lighter crank as well?? It's great if they are! It has been built a few times this engine, it has 0.25 bearings in it, and oversize pistons, Just wanted to know if it is safe and or normal to rebuild it like this?? Everything is still in great shape as far as wear goes. But is it a good idea for smaller bottom end in seven rib block, The pistons also have the clips?? I have only run press pin! To my way of thinking it's a better option being lighter etc, but is it the right way???
  7. The engine is in a boat. It is a lightweight racing Hull, And our class rules are 16v 4age stock with Twin webers, open ignition and exhaust. :(
  8. HaHaHa yup I know all about it i bid $301.50 it went for $303.50. I think I may just use a flexplate If I can get one! help??? As the engine is not spinning a Gearbox or Auto :( I am going the smallort head are 4agze heads the Same?? Cause I just brought one :)
  9. Basically have to get the best horsepower out of a 16 valve 4age without major modifications! i.e Std cams, valves, Cast pistons, We run twin 45 webers! Have always used big port as I was told the cranks and rods spin up faster!! Never had much trouble getting 7500-800rpm But the guys with the smallports just have that extra HP which I am now after so plan is 7 rib block, Cranks are great std, Will fit arp bolts to rods, ACL pistons I want the 10:3:1 compression ones?? 0.5 or 0.7 Head gasket, Bigport head or smallport head with BP Cams??, Have a BP Weber manifold and Twinn 45's. Need ignition?? either a scorcher made up one or std dizzy with a Hyperpac on it (anyone used one??). Or a Electromotive CAS Light as possible flywheel. If anyone has some imput go right ahead :(
  10. Cheers fellas big help!! So where best to buy pistons?? I have used ACL in the past they seen ok? The only thing is they have to be cast due to our class restrictions so no forgies etc :( Is there a speed shop set up for 4age in OZ?
  11. Ok so will bigport cams fit in smallport head??? This may sound really dumb!! but I am new to jap engines what is JDM/ADM. Are the piston pin heights any different? How did they bump up compression?
  12. Oil squirters??? Inside? I have not pulled it down yet, but I brought a 7 rib block. I have a couple of big port heads to go on it! But may try and find a smallport head. What made the extra 14kw in the smallports just the port design??? or was the injection etc updated?? I noticed the different oil filter set up??? I have only ever run 86kw bigport 3 rib engines. Is there any major difference I should know while rebuilding this engine. Crank and rods are the bigger stronger ones 42mm I have read. Will have Twin webers on it are the cam profiles different aswell?? Thanks Guys
  13. Thanks fellas, I was pretty sure they are the same but it pays to check
  14. Hi, Just wondering if all 4age blocks are the same head pattern. i.e big port on 7rib block small port on 3rib block can this be done. Thanks!
  15. Hi there I am running a 4age bigport with twin weber carbies, So no ECU Etc , Can anyone tell me if a 4agze CAS and Coilpack will work/fit??
  16. Hi there if it running to rich best to down size your main jets. That should clean it out up top, If it is still to rich at idle down size your idle jets. As posted on here get a basic starting point from someone with the same engine and go from there. Pump jets and Air correctors will help with fine tune the engine for great performance. I have spent hours and hour on a dyno with all sorts of webers and very small adjustments to jets make a whole lot of difference. They are a very fun carby to play with once the basics are right.
  17. Thankyou for the fantastic link. I always wanted to go down the road of crank trigger ignition but the systems I looked at "Electromotive" are $1500, Thes kits will do the job perfectly Thanks again
  18. Hi Cameron, I am not quite following what U are saying but a photo would be good my email is [email protected]. I do have a lathe but can not see how that would help unless I use another dizzy with mac advance. That's why I asked what dizzy's could be converted, Thanks for your help I will try and follow up your idea if I can work it out, Cheers
  19. Can someone tell me a good place to get a dizzy made. As I am running webers not efi I need one with mechanical Advance. Is it true that a 4ke Dizzy is easy to fit to a 4age Engine????
